I thought about trying to keep the old one but it will take some fab work on the column. The reason I didn’t do that was because it doesn’t have a parking lock and can drop out of gear pretty easily.
@gentrysgarage7956 gotcha brother, I appreciate the feed back. My buddy wants to put a 90's v8 in his 52, we have it pretty summed up but I feel the linkage will be a bit of a pain when it comes to it.
I had to cut this supports that stick forward off the firewall, but not the firewall and did not have to cut the tunnel. The headers are just cheap stainless steel. LS swap headers off of Amazon. They are the ones with the van clamps, and the extensions for the O2 sensor.
@@gentrysgarage7956 Hello Sir, Good Afternoon. The Walton website sates there’s bolt in crossmember doesn’t fit for the L460E transmission? But I seen yours is a bolt in with an L460E, question is did you have to fabricate the mounts transmission? Thank you for your videos
I believe mine came with two different types of crossmembers, which are just a little flat bolt in pieces. One of them was a straight and the other one was offset to either of the front or rear, depending on which direction you put it in. The one I used is the straight one. If you do need to make one, they are pretty simple. The main part of the crossmember is the most important part.
I doing the exact same build right now. I have some questions on the radiator. What hoses did you use? Did you have to cut your hood support? Is your intake 4 inch? I don't have much room so im hoping the intake i ordered fits.
They are just a cheap set of stainless steel LS swap headers. I had to dimple one spot for the original steering column, but if you put a new column in it that wouldn’t be necessary.
Thanks and no a problem great video. Are your headers v band style or the bolt on style? I'm getting ready to build a 1950 with a 5.3 I do have an aftermarket steering column that will be going on also. Thanks for all the good info
Thanks for watching! It wasn’t a lot of fab work. Some bracing on the fire wall had to be removed, radiator moved, motor mount and transmission cross member kit.
Pretty cool. I've got a rough '53 I'd like to do that to.
It is a fun car to drive! Definitely worth the effort! Thanks for watching and sharing
I was born the same year love it
I'd like a driver like this
Hey, did you have to relocate the hood latch when you moved the radiator forward ?
I didn’t relocate the hood latch, I just trimmed the hood
What's a easy way to keep the original shifter for a v8 swap on a 52

Which radiator did you go with?
It’s a radiator from Wizard cooling but I did have to notch and move the radiator. I also trimmed the hood.

Did you use stock exhaust manifolds
No, just some cheap Amazon LS swap headers
Hey, awesome work.
I had a question about the radiator and the fan set up did you go with. And did you move it forward for clearance..?
Thank you.
I went with a radiator from wizard cooling, and I had to move it forward, build a bracket and trim the inside of the hood

I did have to cut the hood, don’t remember what hoses and I believe a 4” intake

How much fab work was needed to ls swap it
Thanks for watching! It wasn’t a lot of fab work. Some bracing on the fire wall had to be removed, radiator moved, motor mount and transmission cross member kit.
Do you have part numbers for the kits?
I’ll see if I can find them for you
