    WOW! That is one imposing model! Reminds me of that old Christopher Reeves dinosaur documentary with the stop motion dinosaurs. You knocked this one out of the park!

      A model this size? Likely an airbrush. Also, not all matte are created equal. In fact, many are semi glosses. Always test first.

      It’s just called “Dinosaur!” I wanna say it was released by FHE back in 89 or 90.

    There wouldn't have been a lot of grass around in the Cretaceous Era, according to the fossil records, but there's nothing wrong with taking some artistic license. I mean, there are dinos in D&D settings, and I'm certain those have grass.

    My son (11) and I love your videos, but he wanted to point out: grasses didn't really evolve until after the dinosaurs were extinct. So, these guys are probably in Jurassic Park or something.

    • @EdwardDowner
      @EdwardDowner 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those tufts don't have to be grasses though, plenty of plants that have either long thin leaves or long green stems and low to the ground. Horsetails (Equisetum spp.) and Whisk Ferns for instance.
      Hold it, turns out grasses are probably older than thought. There is evidence of grasses in the diet of dinosaurs www.newscientist.com/article/dn8336-fossil-dung-reveals-dinosaurs-did-graze-grass/

    This looks really awesome, the only complaint I have is the inside of the mouth looks a little to purple, though it might just be the way the camera picks it up.

    If you think the T-Rex is a handful, wait till you see the Spinosaurus kit, it makes the T-Rex look undernourished. So far, from this series of Pegasus kits, I've built and painted the Triceratops and it was a lot of fun.
    I have the T-Rex assembled, but I have to do some work on the seams before I can start painting. (Thanks for the tip about using an epoxy putty stamp, by the way.) I've yet to decide on how I'm going to handle the beast for painting, but I may do something similar to what you did.
    As for the Spinosaurus kit, it remains in the box and I'm hoping that coping with the size and weight of the T-Rex will give me some insights into how to handle the even bigger and heavier critter.
    I really like what you did with the animals' color scheme and the basing and I'm inspired to get back to work on my T-Rex. Thanks for the excellent video.

      Forgot to mention. Get metal pins as deep into the feet as you can. I hear it's prone to bending over time.

    What king of paints do You use: water based, or oil based? And after coloring do You put a layer of varnish on the figure? If yes, what type of varnish is the best for such works? Please explain. I have an old crocodile figure, that has discolored places, but I don't know exactly what paints and varnish to use for recolor it. Please help me to find out.

    HI Doc Looks absolute cool , other Question how much PSI do you use on your Airbrush and do you thin the Paint for Airbrush ?

    • @ThePaintingClinic
      @ThePaintingClinic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      20-ish PSI. Depends on what paint I'm using if it needs to be thinned or not.

    It looks wonderful, as usual... but is the triceratops taking a nap or something? It doesn't look hurt at all! It would've been nice if a chunk of its side was bitten out.

    Hi Dr. Faust, how do you apply the (matt?) varnish at the end? With a brush or with an airbrush? Great tutorial and a unique project. I enjoyed watching it.

    • @ThePaintingClinic
      @ThePaintingClinic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vallejo Matt Varnish via airbrush. Then gloss for the mouth, eyes, etc.
