It's not often you see artists including the mistakes/things they aren't happy with in their vids. It makes the process a lot more interesting. Regardless, excellent ending result. I'm looking forward to that Dynamoterror head sculpt!
I can not think of a word in the English language that can appropriately describe this. Respect to you and the other artists for sending us back in time.
Some of those tinier details will go on to never be noticed and fully appreciated by the great majority of people in that mural's immensity and yet you guys still put in the maximum amount of effort and cut no corners. That's determination on a level deserving of all the praise and respect.
Honestly 2022 is a golden year for paleo Comunity We've got: Dinosauria Finale Prehistoric planet Jurassic world Dominion Camp Cretaceous FINALLE Jurassic world evolution 2 Walking with dinosaurs remastered by Past eons Primal season 2 7 new species of dinosaurs dinosaurs discovered And new paleo documentary announcet And this artwork is just a sweet cherry on top
That mural is breathtaking - so lush and also with that air of mystery that makes you want to explore it. I get a real strong Douglas Henderson vibe from it. The thing he does so well is not just focus on the animals, but to bring the world they lived in to life and give it character as well. Of all the amazing modern paleoartists out there (and there are a ton), yours is the work that I feel most consistently keeps the focus on the world in addition to the animals. I think you're most well-known for your speculative soft-tissue reconstructions. But for me, this holistic focus on both world and animal is what makes you really stand out. Also, as amazing as the mural is, the most exciting part of this vid is getting to hear more of your Mesozoic music! I really hope an album is released some day!
Thuat and Jeremy are my friends and I gladly accepted help from any of the Western Science Center staff who wanted to help put paint on the wall. The key is having a good paint plan and mixing the colors well (and testing them in the exhibit lighting) so that almost anyone can help "paint by numbers" (aka fill in figures sketched on the wall). If the color plan is solid and paints are mixed well, it is the final detail pass that adds realism and sells the sense of depth.
Was wondering if there's any way to access the soundtracks to your videos, Brian. Really missing the one you did for your old unlisted Allosaurus video and the beat-tracks for Earth Beasts especially. : )
I plan to release some beat tapes on bandcamp.com/historianhimself, also, back in 2018 I shared a secret beat playlist with my patrons on patreon.com/historianhimself, maybe I'll do that again sometime.
I realy love the music that goes into these videoes it realy sets the mood
Is that…your Caiuajara track!??? You need to drop that album with all your paleoart music. Salute!

I know the dinosaurs are the focus but man that tree work and foliage work looks incredible! Well done!
Thank you. Plants are the hardest thing to paint that I know about.

Not including research and sketches made in preparation, we painted this whole mural in about 2 weeks (with a lot of 10-14 hour work days)
@@BrianEnghArt thats a lot, respect man
@@hsdinoman2267 oh man it felt way too fast to me! Our Dilophosaurus exhibit took over a year.
@@BrianEnghArt it must take a lot of patience and i mean a lot
Wow your stuff is always amazing man! How do you pick the other painters who help you out?

Finally someone noticed!

Still my dream to work with you bringing monsters to life. Mike Esola from Prehistoric Magazine and Primal publishing
you keep making videos chief?
What type of paint are using for a mural of this size?
Interior latex house paint. It's cheap, lasts a long long time, and comes in a zillion vibrant colors.
Is the paleo art contest still on?
