The king of groove. Even though I am a guitar player and not a drummer, I always credit Bonham as my number one musical influence- those relaxed yet powerful grooves … music at its purest.
I remember first hearing Led Zeppelin while over at a friend's house after he set up some new speakers in his room. All I could think about is "Who is that drummer and how can I sound like that on the skins?!?" .... it was good timing because I just started taking drum lessons. RIP Bonzo.
John was influenced by the older Jazz players & Latin drummers. To be this good back then with no internet etc, says a lot about the work & practice he put in.
Greatest drummer of all time. I don't know how he keeps the beat going with all the nuances he plays on the high hat. Bonham was to the drums what Jimi Hendrix was to the guitar.
I started playing drums when I was 5 and when I started to take lessons it got more complicated and I started loosing interest plus playing sports kinda side tracked me but once I bought my First Zeppelin album and hearing this amazing band and Mr Bonham playing drums 🥁 that's when I got serious and rediscovered my true passion and to he'll with sports .
I don’t like the whole comparison thing amongst drummers. There’s way too many great ones to say , “ The Greatest!” I just like to sit back and enjoy the greatness that is and that we are all blessed to listen to.

@@Qixo_ Moon is brilliant in his own way - if you listen to any Who record, he never plays the same fill the same way twice. Yet it all coheres well. He bends the rules in his own insane way. Also: brain fart, I meant Hal Blaine of the Wrecking Crew - not Hal Leonard (the music publisher 😆).
The Live Version from How The West Was Won is the best version to me. I wonder if that is the case for most people? Tbh, I prefer Live music over studio usually, because Live music sounds more energetic than polished studio versions.
@@SamsonMillerDrums It doesn't matter that Moon couldn't do what Bonham did. No great rock musician can do what other great rock musicians did and they aren't interested in doing so. Bonham couldn't do what Moon did. Play with wild abandonment and great spontaneity and flexibility and in a melodic and symphonic manner. He couldn't even play as Charlie Watts did, with an R&B feel and groove, subtlety, swing and restraint.
@@anthonypuccetti8779 Lol You're very wrong about that. Bonham had influences of R&B, funk, african, ect not just in jazz. You're just trying to instigate that Bonham couldn't swing argument because thats all you got, lol. I really think anyone who really believes that either has bad musical ears, or they haven't heard him really play a drum solo. He had excellent chops and rudiments. Also yes he didn't play typical jazz or whatever just because he was in a rock band which is besides the point, but bonhams phrasing always swung way better than the drummer you mentioned.
@@SamsonMillerDrums You don't read well. I didn't say anything about his infIuences or that he lacked variety of styles and I didn't make a Bonham couldn't swing argument. Maybe Ginger Baker was right that Bonham couldn't swing but it doesn't matter. So what that he had those influences and had excellent chops? So do studio session drummers and TH-cam drummers. My point was that Bonham couldn't play as Moon and Watts did. And their manners of playing were essential to the sound and styles of the bands they belonged to. "bonhams phrasing always swung way better than the drummer you mentioned." No. And you can't explain how you think he did.
I have a question. With all this AI stuff will the program be able to reproduce a Led Zeppelin bootleg concert recording that was recorded poorly into and perfectly clean version? Feed it the bad recording and the AI cleans it up into a perfect recording?
Once you learn where to place the ball of your foot on the pedal to get the right balance of throw and kickback from the skin it's a breeze. Let the inertia do most of the work.
imo....................................John Bonham was the First heavy Metal drummer , even though Zep werent metal persey , But his beats had metal ellements all thruout it

he was like a metronome, never missed that beat, ever. I would have called him the Governer because he governed the song.

So overrated.
and bonzo was self taught which is more incredible
All of the nuances in the groove is one of the many things that make Bonham the king of percussion!
100 percent agree. Bonham's ghosting on this song is tremendous 👍

Brilliant. This man could never have been replaced. Same with Neil Peart.
i played my guitar along with it , it's the closest i will ever get to have ever jammed with him thanx 4 sharing that jam was great with the master

This is awesome. I listened to it an hour in meditation.
No one will ever compare, the legend !!
Bonzo did more with one foot than anyone could do with two.
Nope
So great - a true master. Thanks for this!

Yup no doubt about it
Rock Drummer, yes. There are many other styles and categories where Bonham had zero skills. (Prog Rock, Jazz, Fusion, Studio Sessions).
Emmmm...... Neil Peart?? lol th-cam.com/video/RE_wOizsGYw/w-d-xo.html

the subtleties in his tom placements is ridiculous. was never able to hear it before but good god he’s locked in
Toms? Where?
Just listen to that groovy swing! \m/

What an unbelievably good player

Really amazing drummer!
His isolated tracks are songs unto themselves.
No wonder Led Zep just died when Bonzo died. RIP and God bless U 🙏🌟
And somehow he managed to do it without a click track. Who'd have thunk it.
I still can't tell if he's actually playing that snare ghost note on the "and" of beat four that is in all the transcriptions.
Dont worry about them ghost notes, they aint nothing but rebound!!
If you hear a sound.......guess what ima say next😂😅😢😮

fantastic isolation!! redo with loop for 10hrs please

Bass drum skin is loose as a goose.
It's to bad he puked on the 40 oz. Of vodka
Think it was more than a 40 oz. Poor bastard really hated going out on tour and missing his family and coped with drinking. What a fucking waste.

Tireless single bass on this track.
Great drummer playing a super basic ULTRA forgettable drum track. Hey sometimes that's all that's needed.

What about Bev Bevan?
