I am not sure that was intentional. Sounds like he was playing the A on the E string with much aggression and sometimes one bends the string so the note becomes sharp by accident...or as you say a happy accident. Also, do you notice how JB rushes (dare i say) just a bit at times? I call it "vibe" but I know guys that would quantize the hell out of it if they could...and of course they would ruin it!!!
@@drewgoog Happy accidents are just that, but listening to JPJ generally across the Zeppelin catalogue suggests he knew exactly what he was doing - every second of every moment. An exceptional musician on every level.
Bonham had such perfect timing in grooving great drum fills with variety, & dynamics. Imo he was never just a straight forward basher. He had an immense drum/ drum fill vocabulary. Whatever the fill he always laid down the right one at the right time, Everytime! Such a delicate touch & feel too.
This song is, without question, my absolute favorite drum bit of Bonham because it highlights all of his intangible qualities as a drummer.. First of all...the fills? Non-existent, other than SIMPLE stroke roll at the end of each phrase. It's a simple 4/4 groove with a relatively riffy bass drum pattern and ghost notes on the snare to encapsulate the dragging swing greasy feel he plays with. A child could play this drum beat..I nailed this drum part pretty early on. Any novice can play this song. But even pros can't play this simple beat and make it sound THIS good. Bonham's individual time feel, his greasy straight/swung feel, and his ability to play with such dynamics gives his drumming so much swagger and life to the point that even is simple groove like this can be played with such heavy swagger. Ba-tsmm-BAA-tsmm Best there was.
This rip came out as well as any I've heard that isn't from the stem multitracks. Fewer and fewer artifacts as the AI gets better and better. Even the overall tone we're left with is warmer and far less shrill than a few years back. Great work!
omg and this sounds so much better than the original. so muc clearer. dont know how you do it but sooo amazing. bonzo and and jpj groove so well . no 2 other guys can compare, you can hear the james brown funk influence.
Keef and Townsend and Clapton just "didn't get' Zep. This is only one half of the band just fucking swinging and grooving. What is there not to "get" ?

JPJ gives it the right amount of funk
Worlds best rhythm section 🔥
Love the melodic phrasing of JPJ matched with Bonzo's power
Great track. Bonham always had such a great sense of timing with the cymbals and was not afraid to use them
Incredible how he throws in a few B-flats on downbeats in the middle of the A verse vamps. Very metal!

In reverse, metal learnt from him. Check dates.
OH HELL YEAH!!!!!!! GREATEST ROCK RHYTHM SECTION OF ALL TIME AND I'M A RUSH FREAK!

Correct, Anyone who thinks he was a basher knows sod all
his timing is all over the grid, but that makes him PERFECT drummer with a great feel and groove, modern day "click" drummers are nowhere close

Yeah, by wankers for wankers.
I"ll play my guitar along to this loud, and I feel and sound like Page on a very drunk night.
Man. Such a funky riff.
Accidentally going to the F too soon at 1:50 is a happy accident bc it's the 5th of B-flat anyways.
Great pick playing. Funky feel when it needs its.
I do not think he is playing with a pick here.
@@drewgoog agree, he's not
Killer sound! 🎼❤️
They played together like a well oiled machine
John Paul Jones, so underrated.
What? Are you an idiot?
If Bonzo was alive today he would still have awesome hair
If BOZO was alive today we'd have to string him up all over again for what he did, but he'd still have bright red hair !!!
Amazing!!! Simply amazing.
Outstanding.
Really cool and honest tones. Thank you, Hot's on for Nowhere would be killer if you can pull it off.
Will see if I can. Thanks for the suggestion :)
And I suggest you pull off all Led songs, lol! :)

Bad ass to the nth degree.

Funky!!!!
JPJ playing on the upbeat in the verses - reggaeish.
JPJ is the best
Bass players in general just don’t get enough credit. But look at anyone’s system and which nob is always turned up the highest? THE BASS!!!
I love Mr Page.. But John Paul and Bonham literally could've been their own jam band. So tight
John Paul Jones is the best musician in Led Zeppelin!!!
Ritmo blus
Bonham plays so far behind the beat sometimes but he’s right on it here.
No he isn't. Drags the hell out of it here. It's so tasty
