Episode four is an hour-long special following one woman’s search for her mother and, through the use of DNA testing, reveals layers of her family she never knew existed.
Kathleen Fraser Jackson was adopted as a baby and grew up in London. At the age of three her adoptive mother died. Kathleen was then raised by her adoptive father and stepmother, until she was sent to boarding school aged five. After her mother passed away, Kathleen felt lost. She tells the programme: “If you haven’t got a mother, you don’t get loved. I realised that that’s how I felt my whole life.”

Just imagine how ofte they deliver sad news though.... most of that is never showen on the program, and there will be lots of searches where they find family and they dont want to know anything of their relatives.... but it wont be showen here. We only get to see the nice parts!
I’m curious to know about all the ones that turn out bad. Researchers being told to pound sand, parents denying the past, people refusing contact with family members. Or family members that turn out to be axe murderers or lunatics. Orphans whose family was wiped out in a tragic event. I wonder what the success percentage is? I’m hoping it is very high.
I have watched this one 4 times and cried every time. I love Kathleen’s spirit!! M heart burst when Teddy told her so sincerely “Be happy!” I hope the entire extended family is happy together.

My heart is just overfilled with joy that those two women who both lost their adoptive mothers at three are reunited. Beautiful. I can't imagine they won't from that day forward become each other's best friend.

This episode brought me all sorts of warm fuzzy feelings and tears of joy. Loved it when Kathleen and Jean met. A special instant bond.
This lady has some very strong genes, all her kids look alike and they don’t have the same fathers nor are the same race.
Kathleen and Jean are so much alike....lovely reunion.
As someone who is of mixed race and who grew up in foster care, without real familial success, I feel an overwhelming connection to this woman. She feels like family. I am so happy that both her and her older sister have each other now and have closure around their birth mother.
I feel emotionally drained after watching this, I can`t even begin to imagine how Kathleen feels. Amazing.

Good question. I'd love if they could help them find them their fathers. The mother though comes across as very cold. I'm so happy for Kathleen and Jean.
Kathleen's brother, Teddy, stated their father did not know about her. They didn't mention anything about Jean's biological father.
@@mainemaine8438 First moments I also thought the Mum seems a bit cold... but then I realized she's not at all... she has her own way of expressing feelings and affection. She's been through a lot, had to be strong and has great humor still.
Me too thought mom had a cold exterior but then I concluded that she's just hard core, tough as nails but full of love inside.
Mom was processing it all through her intellect. She needs to access that heart.
Cathleen's laugh should be a ring tone. Everyone would smile whenever your phone rang 😊❤

This is jean, the first mixed race baby i have been reading the many comments. The main thing is we have all been reunited, and the love and sense of knowing who you are is the important thing. I have since found my bio father who is nigerian not Jamaican. now i know who i am and have found peace. It would make an amazing film. Also just to say my mother kathleen senior had a traumatic childhood. As john lennon said all we need is love❤

I love this show as it proves how family and our roots are what truly matters in life. We can rationalise all we want about all the great things we have, the nice life we've got, etc., but until those birth ties are restored something is clearly still missing deep down... I feel for all those who haven't got a chance to reconnect with their long lost family. Really makes me happy to watch this show and wish them all well

I've watched Long Lost Family here in the USA for a long time and this one in the UK, is absolutely one of my very favorites and I loved it.. Such an amazing adventure to family and what love... this episode just emitted love.. beautiful and precious.
I absolutely adore Kathleen! She's Auntie Kat now!!! LOL She seems like just a real and down-to-earth person with a huge heart. Both sisters do! They deserve all the love in the world, and to feel like they belong. I pray they get that from each other, even if they aren't able to bond like that with their mother/family.

I’m so happy for all involved but especially for the sisters who now have each other. Through dna, my sister found me, both of us in our 50s. We had each married farmers and lived an hour apart our whole lives. The first two christmases, we got each other the same gifts! We’d even been married in the same wedding dress- and knowing her, loving her, has been all the healing I’ve ever needed.
You could get married to your own sister and dont even know...look at how close they were living..glad they found each other

I love the story of Kathleen...BOTH of them! They both have such contented dispositions despite, or because of, what they endured. God kept BOTH Kathleen's alive for the rejoicing.
I came across these videos a couple of days ago, I was totally shocked when they said Kathleens bio mom lived in Canada... when they showed him pulling up to her building, more shock. It’s only 9 km away from me. So cool 🙂🇨🇦
I know someone who “lost” her mother at 3 when her family split and she went to live with her dad, but the brother went with her mom and it has affected her deeply. Thank goodness for a loving stepmother that stepped in to be the full time mom. My heart goes out to the half-Jamaican sisters who did not have that backup support so early in their lives.

I love how this program showed up on my feed. Wish only happiness for kathleen and her new found siblings/mum.
So Mama saw the consequences the first time and decided to put another child through that mess. She had no business even sleeping with black men knowing she wasn't brave enough to raise the offspring. 2 times isn't a mistake. But I am glad that closure was received in the end.

The Brits do documentary so very well. This beautiful woman's story made me cry. I try to NEVER cry unless their tears of joy. So many people who have missed out on love. Something everybody needs.

Wow what a beautiful family reunion! I jus loved wen Kathleen said, "she feels so much love everywhere coming for her!" Yes, for all the work she done to help other families, the good lord blessed her with a gift she cannot receive anywhere else! She looks like her mama, but has the personality like her dad based upon what i got from this video and in my own opinion! The lord blessed her w/an inheritance of blood family even tho she didnt get to meet her dad she got to hold her mama, and also was blessed w/abundant ❤️. Now her kids and grandkids are complete! Who can ask for anything more! May the good lord continue to bless Kathleen, Jean and all of their families esp mom with many more golden years to come. P.S. Have a blast in Jamaica 🇯🇲 as well!
I understand the feeling... I met my father when I was 16yrs old...
I am so happy for Kathleen and her new family. However, the mother appears to be colder than the ice in Canada. In my humble, bumble opinion, she was fairly emotionless. She didn't seem moved much by finding out her poor daughters were looking for her. When they met up in the hotel lobby, for someone who gave away her children over 60 years ago, she didn't seem too warm and/or joyful she had them back in her life.
Carol Conlogue I agree. She only brought up that she had given up another child for adoption once the show came looking for her. Which was great in the long run, but still. When she met her daughters the feeling I got from her was ‘Well, this is nice.’ Like she was having neighbors around for tea. There was no joy or shock and awe, or happy tears. I don’t know, maybe she just thought she’d never see them again and compartmentalised her grief. And now that it’s all drummed up, she’s just super shocked.
That's not fair. Not everyone react the same way. Just because the mother didn't react the way you expected her to react doesn't mean she didn't wasn't happy or thrilled. She after all agreed to meet her daughters. She was the one who mentioned about Jean and agreed to Nicky's suggestion about looking for her. Different people react differently. You can't judge someone's emotions - whether they are happy, sad, thrilled etc - simply because they reacted in ways which are different from you. That is neither fair nor open-minded.
Maybe she's traumatized or something else that makes her emotionally shut down? Or it's too hard for her to process so she just doesn't or hasn't dealt with it. She's not capable of those reactions/feelings so as long as the daughters accept that it'll be ok.
The woman's 87 years old and British ... I think she seemed genuinely happy to meet both her daughters.. The fact that she even mentioned the fact that she had given Jean up prior to Kathleen spoke volumes as far as I'm concerned ..
I didn't see a tear drop, not even when they revealed that they were both motherless since age 3.

What a beautiful family. I'm almost envious, Kathleen is such a beautiful soul, and all her siblings seem so sweet as well. What a shame that they couldn't grow up knowing each other. Hope they get a lot of time on this earth together. They deserve it. Lovely story. Wish them the very best!

OMG i start crying since the story began. Kathleen looks so kind for all human beings and she gets paid back. I can imagine there are a lots of people who suffered in the same situation if they are raised adapted family. I hope they will find their biological parents alive and feel the real life as everyone of us .

That was one handsome man her daddy was. Cathleen won the jackpot on family. I hope they have bonded together. I wish it could have been the same for my mom when she found her baby brother who was put up for adoption. God Bless them.
The mixed daughters are so loving and forgiving. Kathleen wanted to have fun and play around with the Jamaican men but she clearly said she had no desire to settle down with those men and create a family. When she decided to marry she chose a white msn and had white children. Extremely selfish. Im happy for their reunion because the sisters have an open and loving heart. Gene is around 69 and Kathleen 62 they look great with youthful spirits.
The Jamaican men were not settling why blame her?
How about the fathers? How come they don't get criticized?
Also, you don't know if she chose her husband because of his race or just because she loved him.

When you're of mixed heritage, growing up with both sides is crucial in forming identity and self esteem. The world is harsh to those of us who don't fit in a predetermined box. I had both parents and a brother to witness the genetic links and experience love beyond racial boundaries. Jean and Kathleen didn't have that blessing, so it's incredibly moving to see them get a bit of that later.
I never wanted a sister until I watched this video, realized the closeness I’ve missed. Two such lovely sweet women. ❤️

I can’t think of a better thing that could’ve happened to Kathleen and, secondly, to Jean. So sad that Jean’s mother walked out on her family, knowing that her husband didn’t accept the mixed race children that had been adopted. It makes me wonder if the mother adopted them without her husband’s knowledge or consent.

True confession. I've watched this episode multiple times, especially when I need emotional boost, a positive way to end my day before bed. Kathleen Fraser Jackson's spirit/soul makes my heart sing. What a marvelous woman! Her sister and brother are sweet and gentle souls as well. We need more people like these in our world.

Kathleen is such a giving person--she reached out and comforted her sister, let her sister talk to their mother first, comforted them both, what a pure, loving heart. Her sister has lived such a similar to hers, and Teddy is a prince of a man. I'm so glad for her.
