    As a mother who relinquished my first daughter there’s a pain in my heart that is impossible to describe. These vignettes of broken up family’s struggling to regain wholeness help me to feel less isolated less “odd”
    The grief is difficult to describe. I am blessed that my daughter and I have a loving relationship.

      I was just recommended this show (which I'd not heard of) and love it. But this story of Sylvia hit me in the heart. Her face showed exactly what you said. The look when he said he had pictures made me tear up--like a kid being told they can have a cookie. I am so glad she did get to be in contact with her children again. I logged on to say what you said, but you beat me to it.

      Sylvia's story was heartwrenching. I'm in awe that she made a life for herself despite the crushing heartbreak and shame all those years. And to think her daughter's father could have shared more of the story to ease her fears that her mother didn't love her, yet he didn't. It's so cruel. But ultimately there was grace enough in this world to reunite them all. So amazing.

      Some of these scenarios blow your mind. After a brain overload I will have to take a break. People do lots of things when they are desperate, facing family embarrassment, tossing a newborn in a trash can, leaving a newborn in a bathroom, facing being put out on the streets just for having a child out of wedlock or having a child with someone of a different race/nationality or think about a family who finds out they have a brother or sister they never knew existed. Long Lost Family has it all!. Get ready for an emotional rollercoaster!

    So much pain and suffering. As a mom of two adopted children, adoption can be so painful for everyone involved, including the adoptive parents. It seems that no matter how loved the adopted child is they always wonder why and who the are. They feel a sense of rejection, no matter how much assurance you give them that they are so loved, wanted and they have worth. When our son was reunited w his biological family I cried for days about how much his parents had missed not knowing or raising such a lovely boy and knowing how painful all of their journey had been. In our son's case the parents had eventually went on to marry and had 3 daughters, who are our son's full biological sisters. There was such a resemblance and connection for me w his sisters that I felt I was seeing my son as a much younger child. Really an odd and unexplainable feeling. Speaking from an adoptive parent's perspective, there can be so much emotion and pain knowing your joy has caused someone else so much pain. That pain includes pain for our son. We have not found our daughter's birth parents. She is 34 now. This is wonderful that you are helping people on both sides resolve a life filled w uncertainty and question. Lovely, well done, touching series.

    Woah Sylvia's story really broke my heart. They lied to her and took her child away 😭. I feel for her. This is not like other cases. She was married and still everything went to hell and she went thru hell 😭. Poor woman.
    And yes her son is handsome! :')

    With emotional stories like these( especially Sylvia's) who needs to chop onions?? On a serious note though, the atrocious way young mothers were treated back then makes me grateful I live in today's world, where struggling mothers are given help and not made to feel useless.....

      Its different according to which state she lives in or country. And how the law is observed by the people and the government/law enforcement. You need to look at the facts. And the law isn't always what you think it is. But I do think it is crazy all the couple's who are a few months or year or two apart and as soon as the boy turns 18 he gets charged for statutory rape.
      Also there are a lot of teens who date someone older.

    I’m in the USA. If this show has been produced over here, they wouldn’t have told the sisters who their other sister was off camera. Telling them off camera is the dignified thing to do. Over here, they would have made a big deal about telling them who their sister was on camera, and I assumed they would have spruced up the acting if the hadn’t gone all hysterical When they found out.
    Also where “the intermediary advised that the sisters be told about KT off camera,” I’m glad they did that in the UK. If it had been here in the USA, the Intermediary Might have said that, but the sponsor would have said come on we want the ratings, And that probably would have won the day.
    I hope the two sisters got free tickets to that concert and got to go backstage.

      SW2799 I feel the same about that. The show always seems to protect the dignity of their guests, unlike a couple American shows. Telling them about the passing of a family member off camera for instance

    • @conigjo62
      @conigjo62 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      True.. I have watched the UK, US and AU version. The UK are done the best . I live in the US and sorry to say they do them the worst. I saw one where they called people on the phone and told them the person they are looking for is dead. I guess in the US its more about hunting for ratings...

    Where the hell were her parents? Cant imagine being parent, and not helping my child and grandchildren escape a bad situation... there was clearly abuse happening for a mother to have felt the need to take her kids and flee into the streets... how could you look yourself in the mirror an ever call yourself a parent again much less claim to be religious? Hypocritical "Religion" and "sociital what is done ism" be damed 😭

    It may be nitpicking, but I wish they wouldn’t put the words “adoptive mother.” She is her mother, period. I have no problem with the words “birth mother”, it shows a blood line and the fact she loved her enough to give her a chance at life
