Tears in my eyes as Claire walked into the room full of relatives. As an adoptee I remember attending family reunions thinking to myself that I wasn't blood related to one person in the room. 35 years ago when I was 21 I found my birth parents married to each other as well as a younger sister and brother and a huge Italian family who embraced me. What a wonderful feeling
Oh my gosh, I'm so glad this meeting happened for you. I remember meeting my friend's entire family of extremely large, dark-haired and boisterous people. There was one skinny young man with super bright red hair who sat so quietly through the family gathering. He was not visibly withdrawn, but just sort of an observant person and what you'd call "thoughtful". I thought it was a friend of one of the teens but no... he's adopted. I hope he found his family because if a stranger like me can see it in 10 minutes, he had to have felt it every day of his life. :/
Yes, she seems like such a sweet lady and it was delightful to see her walk into that room and realize she has a connection, albeit distant, to these folks. I love these stories, even if they make my eyes well up.
God bless you Miss Claire, I’m so glad you were able to connect with some family. I pray that you’ll find more of the answers you’re looking for. Much love to you!
Oh my xx I've lived in Hong Kong since 1992 - This is the most incredible story. I heard you on RTHK ! Wishing you every success in finding more of your family members, Claire. If there is anything I can do to help you, please reach out x
This makes me so happy for Claire. I'm thrilled that she has at least some relatives even if they are distant. Obviously more people around the world should submit their DNA to the database. I hope Claire gets more answers in the future.
Totally agree. She seems like a very dear lady and I teared up watching her surprise when she arrived at the gathering of blood relatives. Distant or not, to know that they share a common ancestor must be such a thrill. I hope that she finds close family in China.
What a wonderful story. Even though she hasn't found close relations, now she has people in her life who are genetically related,& she's made some new friends. I'm so happy for her.
Claire is so happy to have new 'family' and they have all taken each other into their hearts. Maybe one day she will find some very close family members.
Yes, if she didn't care she wouldn't have left her in a place of safety. Sadly, we hear of the babies thrown away like garbage and that is a monster not a mother.
Certainly I think accent is from what you are surrounded by or exposed to. There is a proliferation of American accented kids in Asia, their parents don’t have American accents, they have never been to America, but I think they have been exposed to so much media on Netflix that they have American accents!
What a wonderful story this is. Imagine finding out that after all, your best friend is actually your relative! Its quite unbelievable. I really didn't believe she would find her parents, given the story about all the refugees flooding into the country at that time. Perhaps her parents were a couple of those refugees and decided to leave her where they did because they knew she would get into an orphanage and have a better life than they could give her. They must have been struggling if that was the case. It is so very sad. But she seems a happy person and look at all those relatives she's found, even if they are distant. How wonderful for her 💗💗💗
Nowadays it is nearly always possible to find you relatives. BUT for this to happen they need to come forward. Maybe in this case it's a good idea to look in China as well.
💛🎉 I am very happy for Clarie being able to find relatives, God bless you all! -I whish I will be able to find my biological family, I am 64 now. Any time I pray I say: if any one still alive, please Father in Heaven take care of them where they are. Sometimes I cry, or tears up during my little prayer times. I am very glad that she found relatives 💛🏡🙏🎉. God bless you all🙏🏡💛🏡🙏🏡🙏🏡💛🙏
I live in Asia and those DNA tests are not going to show anything new so most people do not take the tests. For people searching for their relatives, this will not help their search. They did a great job bringing so many people together for her. Judging from her personality, I believe her mum loved her but had no choice.
The party was a beautiful idea and it looks like it helped several of the attendees feel connected to family in person. I can't imagine the detective work is over yet! I was able to tell a DNA match whose mother was adopted who her biological GRANDFATHER was based on our shared matches, their trees and other records. And she's a fourth cousin! So surely, surely, someone out there somewhere has enough records and shared matches to be able to help Claire. It's a matter of finding that person. She just needs to find that relative with extremely good records and a good working knowledge of where third cousin Harold was working in 1947 etc. David, please post another video if it happens for her!
Thanks for the heartening words, and yes Claire is still on the search. If her story develops, we will be sure to show to everyone who has given so much support!!
I believe Ms. Claire's family originated from Shanxi and were part of the migrants that came to HK during the famine. Joanna's parents must of also came from the same region and giving up because the migrants were not financially able to care for them. Luyi has quite the family resemblance to Claire, and I can see the resemblance with the other members, interesting how genetics work. If Katya still has contact with her Chinese family, there might be better leads. Good luck Claire.
Claire looks so different from the average Cantonese her parents had to be from northern China suffering the Great Chinese Famine 1959-1961. The most stricken provinces were Anhui, Chongging, Sichuan, and Guizhou. During that 3 years, abiut 250,000 people came to HK by land of course. Then British shut the door in 1962. Given Claire was born in Dec 1960, I would guess her mother might be carrying Claire already when they arrived in HK. Given where Claire was found, their living condition must be horrible. My guess is her family came from northern China in 1960, Claire was born and her family had to give Claire a chance for a better life. Even though this guess,if true, narrows the search, but ultimately DNA is the only way.
I disagree! 30 years ago information and the internet were so different and 23 and me shows like these didn't exist. Maybe ten years ago would have been the earliest she could have tried imo
@@SPadventurOUS I totally agree. What matters is that she is trying now. The fact that she found a man in China that saw her as that abandoned newborn was a miracle in itself. To then find people that she is genetically linked to in the UK was amazing. I hope that she finds closer kin in China one day. Lovely lady.
Hi, first of all thanks so much for your interest in Claire's story. She continues to search and when there is any development we will be sure to share with this community.
I recently became friends with Claire. I live in the US and shared her story on Facebook here in hopes someone knows something. I have been very fortunate and hope it continues. Claire really is lovely.
@@stacysantana9642 We don't know how closely related, but if there was famine and refugees at that time, then many abandoned them as they could not care for them. Wonderful For Light Love & Truth
This is wonderful. She found so many relatives. It's just amazing! So happy for her.
Couldn't agree more!
A mother that must do this for her child has the strongest LOVE known to all man/woman kind!💖

Thank you!
I lost my dad too.. He is a us navy
Thanks to family, they’re awesome LORD and you are the wonderful one who gave them to us all love your child.
IT'S SO SAD////
Well, if u trace all the family trees of these people, u might hit on a common ancestor, which could lead to her parents
Must be in the database! Her parents are not.
Beautiful Story.
Many many thanks
I am sorry to say she waited so long. If she could have started early she could have met them😕☹️
Very true, her mother may well be very old or no longer with us, but we can only hope - siblings, nephews, nieces....?

Some of us found out, and met our parents. But, was better not knowing.
What a lovely woman. So happy for her. 😃😃. But can somebody please explain the four Caucasian people in the background?
Great to see the husbands and wives of the Chinese families that are connected to Claire joining in the celebration!
Is there a follow up on whether she found her birth parents yet?

Wow what science can do actually
Science is amazing!
I’m 29 and I still rock myself to sleep
We all have our own way of calming and putting ourselves in a comfortable place - whatever works for each of us I say!
So basically one family is giving away all their kids
Sorry all their daughters
