    Great video! Thank you. You saved me from the hassle of having this cheap, Chinese IFJF filter installed. I bought quickly and didn't realize I wasn't getting an OEM part.

    Hi thanks for the video.!! Which one is the best filter for Ram 2500 6.7?

    • @repairvehicle

      When it comes to fuel filters for Cummins, Mopar or Fleedguard, best filters money can buy. I have not seen other brands offering better filtration than specification listed for Mopar or FLeetguard. There companies that claim to have better microns ratings than Mopar or Fleetguard, but they are lying when you cut open these filters.
      Where to buy OEM Mopar or Fleetguard fuel filters?
      Ram dealers online or directly in person on site.
      Cummins website
      Genosgarage.com
      Stay away from ebay and Amazon, I have contacted these companies directly asking if they have proof that their filters genuine and they told me they could not provide.
      There might be Ram dealers on ebay selling OEM fuel filters, I have not came across one yet. If I find Ram dealer on ebay I will make a video.
      Keep in mind there is a lot of fake filters that have OEM name on them. Its best to buy from reputable resellers or directly from manufactures.
      Currently there is shortage of Fleetguard filters, genosgarage don't have them yet, on back order. Even Cummins website did not have them in stock for the last 2 months.

    HA! Funny thing. I just started using a iFJF filter, had it for a few days, not even a week. But I'm not using my iFJF to replace my OEM filter. I have an auxiliary fuel tank, and sometimes the paint/liner on the inside of the tank will flake off. So to protect my transfer fuel pump, I installed a reusable/washable stainless steel mesh filter from iFJF. But I'm still running my OEM filter on my truck, no way and I getting rid of that, not even for a filter that is "high quality approved". This is so funny, if it wasn't so serious. Let me just say, trying to go cheap can get real expensive real fast.

      For majority of people cheap is good enough. Quality always comes with cost.

    I put a fuel filter water separator on my gravity feed fuel tank line going to my factory tank. I mounted it to my bed frame exiting out to the filler neck valve. Yes its overkill, but wanted extra filtration before it reaches my main fuel tank. Good idea or no?

    • @repairvehicle

      Yes, it is good idea. Clean fuel is always good thing for diesel engine.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but that extra space at the bottom is the cavity to hold water, correct? Since it is supposed to be a "water separator" as well.

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You need extra space for water, but not Half a quart. Well known brands and factory don't have a Half quart extra space. Extra space is not to collect water and drive with it. You suppose to drain water every month or sooner if sensors senses.

    • @jrodpadilla22
      @jrodpadilla22 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@repairvehicle correct you drain water out every so often or if a sensor trips. I couldn't tell that well how much space was actually there. Thanks for the clarification on filter depth

    I have a 2020 ram 2500 Cummins, I'm I suppose to be draining water out of my fuel filter? I use Mopar filters only

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It use to be a required every Month to drain water from fuel filter and not to rely on sensors. Now it's all about relying on sensors to tell driver you have water. When sensors say you have water, it could be too late.

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mopar fuel filters, not any worse than aftermarket fuel filters. They're good filters. Many people bash trash oem fuel filters but they are not bad fuel filters, just change them more often and don't follow factory recommended intervals.

      Thank you for the information, one more question. I've been using hot shot secret diesel treatment with the lx4. Is that good enough lubricity for the cp4 and not to much for my dpf. Thanks again for all your helpful knowledge.

      Excellent question. Don't forget to subscribe. I am working on the video exactly about this subject and details will be shared in the video. Continue to use hotshot secret and after the video we can reevaluate your options and what is the best for your truck. I am not trying to be mean here, it's a lot more details than I can describe here in words.

    I am pretty sure you misspoke. That filter you show is not for a 2019.
    [EDIT: I strongly believe many CP4 pump failures can be traced to junk fuel filters and owners that fail to purge air from fuel system after filter changes.]

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did I say 2019? If I did, then I misspoke. 2019 is cartridge style front and back. Up to 2018 ram uses canister filter in the back and cartridge in the front.

      It's from water contamination 99% of the time. As a long time diesel tech, I've seen this far too many times. The other 1% is def contamination from user error.

    Interestingly enough. the canister is more expensive than the filter media. In realty they could probably make a quality filter.

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      quality media comes with the cost and that's what cost the most.

    • @JA-ux7dd
      @JA-ux7dd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@repairvehicle some manufacturers are getting $54, $62, $104. no matter the quality no water separator/filter is worth that much either.

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      10 microns filter media vs 4 microns, makes big difference. 4 microns will cost more and will make equipment last longer.
