Ronin228 I so agree - I have one and love it but it’s definitely in a different class. And I think that’s to be expected given that this is $750 and the samurai is often like $250-$300 from ADs.
Johns Frenchies Yes that’s correct that the SPB051 has a retail price of $1,000 in the US, but the JDM model, the SBDC051 (same watch) sells for ¥110,000 or about $750-$800 and can be purchased at that price from Seiya Japan, one of the most trusted JDM watch importers. Hi Josh, I've got the 051 and I love it. I have bought about a dozen straps for it, as it's a strap monster !!! I currently am wearing it on a snakeskin cobra strap and it looks amazing. A black waffle also looks great on it. Such a beautiful watch, and I too like the captain cook, but the seiko is hard to beat for its price. Seiko is releasing 4 new versions of this and they look amazing too. Smaller in size at 40.5mm they are the spb143 /145/147 And a limited edition 149. Not out till July though .
daniel hoey Hi! Mainly because like most people I will never take this watch diving and I think it looks great this way. Leather straps on vintage divers is an entire subculture that I’ve always found interesting.
Looks great! Leather strap works well. After watching many TH-cam videos on it, the SBDC051 will be my next buy.
I agree..the band looks great!
Just bought mine, got an Uncle Seiko rubber strap for it too, keep the vintage feel without having to wear a bracelet in the summer 🤙🤙
Hello sir, i have a question. Would it be ok for smaller wrists? Around 6 inch wrist
This is a great watch, under rated, I bought a samurai after I got this watch and don't like how cheap the Samurai feels in comparison

The SPB051 is actually $995. In sites like EBay some are asking $1500. Where did you find yours at the 700s ?

Good stuff Josh keep it up!
I had this, but sold it due to being too big; lug length is too much. Check out the upcoming Seiko SPB149!!!
Why have you put a leather strap on a dive watch though?

@@joshjamesyoutube Got a brown 5mm genuine calf leather strap on my SRP777 (Black Turtle) and it looks fabulous!
