Such nostalgia. Not only seeing these 2 legendary cars but also these 2 legendary drivers. They represent so much of my childhood. As a kid i loved watching Mike and Deon slug it out on the racetrack. Forever a BMW 325iS and Opel Super Boss fan.
This makes my heart swell with pride...I got to see this epic battle unfold at Kyalami back in the day...and, I owned a Superboss and terrorized the East Rand with it for quite a few years...I miss both of those era`s...
I'm so glad i was part of that era. I was helping out a friend who competed in production motorcycle racing in the pits and travelled all over SA seeing the cars , motorcycle's and drivers up close during the weekends of racing. I was like a drug addict being around those cars and motorcycles which led me to spending most of my money owning some of them. Golf 1 Gti ; Golf 2 Gti 1.8 16v ; 2x Toyota Conquest RSi's , Kadett Superboss ; Kawasaki KR250 ; Suzuki RG 250 MK2 and Suzuki RGV250.
I had a poster of Deon Joubert with a BMW 525i on my wall as a young boy. Seeing these legendery cars today is emotional. The car enthusiast foundament is laid down by these cars.....
Wonder if the drivers ever swapped over (even back in the day) to see what the other car was like? Die hard BMW fan (of the old ones, not the current ones!) but that Superboss is special.
Motorsport as a whole just isn't the same anymore😣😣... WRC, F1, Touring Cars, that mystic aura, that magic, that raw, heart bounding excitement... I personally don't feel in modern Motorsport.
I love the Opel kadett superboss and i love the bmw e30 325is but opel succeeded in what they wanted to do, building a car to rival the 325is e30 and the superboss won

in the past I had such nice situations standing at the red light at the end of a german city, right before the Autobahn begins, with my GSI 16V, orginal 150 HP. On the other lane for example an BMW like this, or an Honda CRX or even an Renault Alpine (does anybody remember?) If the Bullen (german cops) had seen such an illegal race, it had took me 20 Deutschmarks, so what. Today it takes me 2000 EUR, licence away and 6 months jail. Thank you.
A lot has changed since 30 years ago in the automotive industry for me it's more of not so good than good...today's cars are software driven, too sissy signaling the end of oil burners and welcome to the EV...I am glad and fortunate I was born during the era oil burners, our fathers and uncles taught us how to fix cars and we became DIY. In the EV I presume very very few things can do yourself mostly these cars need to be hooked to the mainframe company computer...Long Live the oil burners, Long live the combustion..

Mike and Grant signed my 1991 Superboss visors. So value right there. Both legends.
Topgear's Chris Harris drove both with Deon at Killarney in about 2013. The Opel was Chris Davidson's Yellow Mike Briggs Tribute Superboss.
