  • One year ago, January 30, 2019, I began a new chapter in my life when I was diagnosed with Ocular Melanoma. I call it a chapter because the moment itself doesn’t define me, but it is an important part of my life story. To celebrate my Canciversary, World Cancer Day and Rare Disease Day, I want to share my story. I hope this video brings awareness to eye cancer, particularly Ocular Melanoma. I also hope it inspires people to make their eye health a priority and get their eyes dilated each year. For the OM warriors and Ommies that are newly diagnosed, I hope my story may be a source of encouragement for you. EYE believe in a CURE and this is my story.

I was treated in 2015; doing well. It's helpful to discuss. Be well. You really explained the process so expertly. I'm sorry you had to go through that during the loss of your dad. God bless you and family. Oh, and don't worry; you look great

Thank you for posting this video. My son sees an ocular oncologist in a few days for his first evaluation and treatment scheduling. They explained the process, but your story made it so much more human and hopeful.

Thank you for sharing your story. I was diagnosed Oct.13th, 2020 and went through the same as you. I did get my biopsy and I am CL 2 unfortunately. Your story was uplifting. My lesions was 2.3 X 6.5 base. They got it small as well and I pray it doesn't go anywhere! There is a drug that my oncologist said may help with the spread called Sunitinib. Not sure if I will try it. I had the plaque removed Nov. 9th and I sill have double vision after 6 weeks. I know I need to be patient. Is your vision still distorted? Did you have retinal detachment? Is the double vision gone now? I am having my days, because it's so doom & gloom on the internet, so thank you for your video!! I am so glad that you are doing better and you will be celebrating a 2nd year here soon. Thank you!
