    Mr. De Lisle, I've found that different plywood produce different amounts of charring and tarring. I've found wonderful 1mm plywood from Finland that gives absolutely clean sides where you can't find any soot at all. I've found other plywoods where the smoke really hurts my lungs and the tar is thick. Specifically, you want to avoid formaldehyde - literally the chemical they use to preserve corpses. My point is, finding the optimal cutting speeds and pew-pews on sub optimal plywoods will still give you a stinky tarry experience.
    with regards,
    mattias

      Thank you. I'm making the most of it with an abundance of free material which are off cuts from a local factory. Extraction using the comgrow hood like in my previous video would work perfectly to rid the fumes and maybe tape to protect the wood from smoke staining. All the very best. Cheers J

      You can actually buy plywood specifically made for lasers and you really shouldn't use anything else. These completely un protected diode lasers are dangerous enough as it is, always use materials made with lasers in mind.

    After having the creality falcon I want to try some other engravers.
    Some have linear rails and other designs that seem like they should be more accurate and repeatable than this design.
    Also some have belt tensioning screws to make that easier. Something the 3d printers have had for a while now.
    Some also have dual motors instead of the shaft to drive each side of the y axis.

    I believe the laser has a built in fan for smoke dispersal, but is this enough air supply to not require a separate air assist pump? Thanks.

    • @joshuadelisle
      @joshuadelisle  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would always use another air supply as it assists in cooling the laser also which will extend its life. I use a compressor at 20psi on all my models. Cheers J

      Hi. Thank you. The comgrow Z1 10w is the cheapest that can cut but takes a long time. If you can splash out a bit extra I'm currently reviewing the comgrow Z1 pro 20w which is probably the best for the least amount of money. Otherwise if you want to be commercial and get a return back on your money I would go for the xTool D1 40w as it's by far the best performing laser in the desktop market. Cheers J

    I buy a welder.. Then find u got and reviewed same one. You get a 3d printer for review..its the same one I have 2 of...and now I buy a laser cutter, and bam, you reviewed the same one. Great minds...so it's back to me..I'll tell you the gadget I get ! A follow up on this would be good though ? ( also just bought your box designs).. The creality 10w is only 309 quid at the mo on creality site BTW. Bargain for a 10w, so bought air assist, enclosure and hex bed!

    I purchased this about a month ago and I can’t get it to work.
    I assembled it plugged it in switched it on it beeps but has never move an inch in any direction.
    I have spent a least 10 hours trying to get it working but without success
    I bought a laptop and downloaded lightburn and use the trial version but can’t get it to do anything is it a faulty unit?
    Tried contacting Creality but they are not much help,asking me have I connected it up correctly even though I sent them a video showing them it illuminated and beeping
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I’m totally frustrated with the situation and wish I had never purchased it.
    Thanks

    How does this engraver compare with the Ortur LaserMaster 2, COMGO Z1 and LONGER RAY5 10W.

    • @joshuadelisle
      @joshuadelisle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't like the fact it auto homes before printing meaning you can only print exactly where you positioned on the software and not be able to manually position. So far I'm most impressed by LONGER for the touch screen, being very costs effective and working consistently well. Cheers J

    Dropped the cash on one of these, still waiting for the bloody thing because Creality chose to use one of the worst rated logistics/couriers services. My 3D printer from them came faster with another service. Busy setting up the work space for all the expensive toys, would you say air assist is absolutely necessary? was looking at the enclosure for the laser but not sure if I should get both? Enclosure would however restrict the size of material I'm using so might be a no go. Do you have any updates/tips/trick on this model? Links? Great video.

    • @joshuadelisle
      @joshuadelisle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. Thank you. hopefully it comes soon. Air assist is essential really for clean and efficient cutting. In my latest video I show my compressor line set up. An enclosure is needed for optimum safety as these machines are hazardous. Cheers J

    I can’t get over the price!
    Ok, firstly, I wouldn’t recommend using 230v ac equipment on a truck, it will work and you will probably be fine but… those inverters can kill so please take care when routing cables. Maybe use copex or SY cable to give a bit of mechanical protection. Saying that, I don’t know how you plan to install this or what you will use it for so the above may be overkill but please bear it in mind. I wouldn’t normally say anything and my engineers used to use inverters to charge their drill batteries / power kettles etc but that was within the confines of their dry, warm cab, not out in the open with all those potential hazards.
    The other thing, what voltage is that control box? I always like to see 24vdc when it comes to the control side but have a feeling that that one is ‘mains’ voltage… Please look at its ‘IP’ rating if it has one, or just see how water could find its way in, another thing to think about if you will have to use this outside.
    Secondly, that capacitor…. I wouldn’t recommend using polystyrene because of the nasties it can give off when the motor gets hot or the capacitor fails, the capacitor will be absolutely fine rattling about, they are pretty robust.
    Lastly, please wear gloves when handling that wire rope, it’s fine when it’s new but after a while it will fray and cause nasty cuts. I use winches quite a bit and have a few scars to prove it. Yes, I didn’t learn the first time 🤦‍♂️
    Great vid as usual, cheers 👍

    • @joshuadelisle
      @joshuadelisle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. It will be seprate to the trucks wiring. I'm using an Ecoflow 2400w battery bank. they're pretty good especially for saftey features and it wont be permenantly fix on, ill only attach it to use it in fair weather and then straight back off. yeah another guy suggested just using hot glue on the capacitor and get rid of the polystyrene. Gloves are a good idea but if the cables are freying then they're loosing their strength and should be replaced.
      Cheers J

    ik this is a longshot, My Engraver Got burnt a while back while cutting a bunch of phone stands in wood, the wood caught on fire... Anyways I got all the parts I need besides the red Magnetic Lense/Sheild that attaches to the bottom of the laser module, I want to 3d print one but need to know the dimensions, more specifically just the height of the red shield, I can measure the laser module for the with, but cannot just guess the height because the beam needs to be focused. If anybody can measure the height of the red Sheild with a caliper and tell me how many mm it is i would appreciate it more than you could imagine!!
