Thank you for this Andrew. I've been hesitant to get started because I was afraid that I would not exude the necessary confidence. One thing that I really took away from this video is that I am a "facilitator" versus "instructor ". That relieves some of the pressure. Thank you again.

Great job, you made it so easy. And more relaxing .is less talking and not to get ahead of yourself. Staying focused 💯 is important. Thanks

Your video was really helpful ! I just became an instructor and am working on being less nervous for in person classes. What I’m having trouble with is the flow of a class and how it should go. If you have any tips they would be appreciated! Thank you

Hi Nicole, congrats on becoming an instructor! The manual and dvd's are the best thing to help you move from one thing to the next. You can really lean into the dvd's to do the talking for you! You just need to facilitate the skills practice and testing. This article has some tips you may be interested in: www.cprinstructoraffiliates.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=485464&action=edit

Your videos are all very helpful! Thank You!!! I’m wondering, how many students can I have in a heart saver class with a single instructor? Does it differ at all between disciplines (BLS, etc.?) I have seen diagrams showing one instructor to six students using two manikins.. is there any regulated or, even “ideal” ratio of students to manikins? And students to instructors?

Ideally you would like to have that 1:5-6 ratio in the classroom, then if possible a 1:1 ratio for the students and mannequins, but 1 mannequin per every two students is also common!

First of all, who are you?
It is a great practice to introduce yourself to your class before you start teaching.
CPR Instructors are not licensed - they are certified.
There is a big difference between the two.
As far as "comfort level" goes -
I am sensing you are not all that comfortable making this video.
You keep swaying back and forth - it is fine to stand still.
You also use way too many "ums" etc. which is very annoying.
Using "ums" or a lot of "okays" or "wells" or "uhs" usually means
you are stalling, trying to think of what you are going to say next.
If you practice what you are going to say, as you tell new instructors to do,
there is no need for "ums", etc.
If you need to take a moment to figure out or decide what to say next,
simple stop talking for a moment, think about your next comment,
    then say it.
Finally - as you sign off, you state your name is Andrew.
That is fine to say at the end, but say it at the beginning
so we know to whom we are listening.

Hi Jeanie, thanks for the feedback. Andrew does introduce himself at the beginning but that could be easily missed. We share information like we are talking with someone in person as we so often do. We understand it's not everyones style, but hope you are able to glean the information you are looking for!

And next time you want to intrude into a conversation not addressing you,
you might wish to keep scrolling.
It is not polite to interrupt.
      Have a mediocre day.
