I ordered one today. I also bought an Amazon 3 dual rail humbucker loaded pickguard from Musiclily for $35.95. If I don't like the pickups I'll swap the pickguard out.
You won't be disappointed , I bought the same pickguard for a cheap strat I got for Xmas a couple years ago. I did block the trem though and the guitar sounds awesome with the triple dual rails...✌️
This guitar is junk. There's no point with this or the Bullet. The Affinity is the minimum you should get. If it sounds terrible, you won't play. If you can't afford it, get a second hand guitar.
As long as the body is cut flawlessly and the neck is well made and very comfortable it is a good guitar. Wiring, PUs and mechanics can be upgraded anytime.
I picked one up as soon as they went to $99. I'm putting a new loaded pickguard in it with Alnico V pickups as well as changing out the tuners for locking ones. My biggest issue is every single fret end is sharp. My hand was tore up just testing the guitar out. I'll fix that over the long weekend and install all the new goodies in it. Looking forward to enjoying this guitar. I've played for 35 years and love working on guitars almost as much as playing them.
I got one when they came out and immediately put on locking tuners, a pre-loaded pickguard, changed out the nut, and added a string tree. It didn't really need all of that stuff, but it turned out really cool.
🤣🤣🤣 People still gonna make an issue about this Squier not being a Strat thing?! Silly, lol. Fender freggin’ put it on the headstock themselves! Great deal!
I have a Squire 40th Anniversary Strat and I absolutely love it. I was never a Fender guy until I got that and now it's my go to axe. All the Fender purists need to relax a bit lol.
@MulletTrain-o2g I do reviews & comparisons. So I really should. Seems like it's just a matte finish Sonic strat from the video. Maybe use it as a giveaway or refinish project.
It looks awesome with that pickguard and covers. I dont mind Strats with white guards on sunburst though, because they remind me of Claptons Strat on the back cover of the Derek and the Dominoes album.
I like that tortoise shell pickguard you put on.. I put a black pickguard on mine I had from the 1980s , and it is solid black. But, now that I see yours. I like that one , and look much better. 😮
You right handed players don't know how lucky you are to have every model available to you. Being lefy has slim choices. I'm gonna go play the left handed blues on a red guitar 🎸😂 have a good day to all ✌️
I am a fortunate lefty, which I consider myself because I write and eat left handed. However, most of the sports I've played since I was a kid I played right handed. I throw right, bat right, bowl right, and shoot a bow right. As a lefty, I write left, eat left, play pool left, shoot pistol/rifle left, play tennis left. For guitar, I play right handed. That's what I meant about being fortunate, I get to choose from many models.
@marcd1981 I'm pretty much the same as you ..but I play guitar lefthanded..and it sucks. I can write with both hands..it is weird. I really wish my parents had bought me a righthanded guitar as a kid because I probably would have been alright. But knowing my weird situation, they said, 'What way do you strum'...and they bougth me a lefty acoustic when I was 11 or 12. hehe. We are what they call, cross dominant..which I'm sure you already know. Rick Emmett from Triumph is the same. But like you, he learned right handed.
@@michaelr.4878 I think I got started in sports right handed because my father was a Little League coach, and I watched so many players batting and throwing right handed I just copied them. Then when I played, I batted and threw right handed.
Its not all so bad. Being a lefty as well. Many right handed can be converted to left handed easily with the strings and nut. Squire makes lefties, I got a classic vibe in lefty. Many bigger brands offer lefties. There's a budget brand called tease guitar with a lefty. Hes a US budget brand. I bought a right handed Floyd rose strat for a great price.
Strat is cool and all but you might the only other person I've ever seen that that has those book style Lord of the Rings extended Dvd's. I'll never get rid of mine! lol
The poplar body is thinner than a standard. The trem block is very thin. Dime-sized pots. Not sure about the neck. I would spend another 100 on a new trem and locking tuners and enjoy the lighter weight with more sustain.
Cool, one of my favorite guitars is still a Squire Mustang.. haven't changed a thing on it, and don't plan to. It’s completely stock and I never have any issues. Yes, I have better guitars but it’s very fun to play, and I love short-scale guitars. I’d pick this up but I just bought a new electric-acoustic :P
watched someone trade in guitars lol pelham blue Epi SG super clean...95 bucks lol so what I'm thinking is that I'll be able to pick these up for 40 bucks at pawn shops because using the pawn stars formula that everyone seems to accept, I'll give you half of what I think I can get and what I can get is probably half of what it was new I'll round up the 99 to a hunny and say that it probably got hocked for 20-25 bucks and if I chat up the guy I might even get them down to 35 to take it off their shelf because at that point they'll have accumulated, just like those pelham blue epi sg's that are piled in big box store closets waiting for the 21 day hold period to expire and the comptroller hopes prices hold or I'd expect to see even big box stores just *stop* taking trades/buying and maybe even stop consignments, depending on how crammed their inventories are with "race to the bottom/zero cost" units that just aren't moving. *sounds of sledgehammer whacking a fire hydrant next to the warehouse* Footnote: they're almost inexpensive enough to buy a crate of them, pull them all apart, and cull out the best components of the lot - put them back together, upcharge, write the parts off that are being donated to wherever on taxes. Don't take a loss, donate stuff - nearly equivalent results on taxes, people just don't want to do the bit of work needed to recoup costs from donations, much easier to throw in garbage as it's a much shorter form and process. If nothing else, people can learn to refret necks or route a body without fear of destroying something nice - wood is essentially free, it's just the time of the person who worked in the factory to make it, really.
I'm just more upset these Amazon deals are NEVER on Amazon UK and, living in Ireland, the UK version of Amazon is the one we use - shipping costs from the good old USA are too dear - sob!
I don’t care. It’s a Strat. I’ve played fenders from the Squier tier and as long as the setup is good, do what you want with pickups. And buy another guitar too.
Two things: First - It's Tuesday, and you posted a video. WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DID YOU DO WITH RICHARD?!? Second - It's a real Strat by Fender. Anyone who says otherwise is a guitar snob and should be snubbed.
I'm not concerned about the tariffs , he put them on China in his first term and it didn't affect the prices. I was actually doing way better economically 4 years ago than now too be honest. PS Happy Thanksgiving bro...✌️🦃
It's now not a genuine, authentic, Stratocaster, as you described it, because you've already changed parts of it, so that's a contradiction in itself, and you haven't upgraded it, you've down graded it as it was perfectly fine before you changed it, I would prefer the White scratch plate and parts, you've ruined it.

I also loaded that same pickguard onto a strat build - I love it !
This guitar is junk. There's no point with this or the Bullet. The Affinity is the minimum you should get. If it sounds terrible, you won't play. If you can't afford it, get a second hand guitar.
It’s been a fun few years of super cheap guitar buying fun
Yes it has!

Mr. Shredder, so nice to hear honest reviews from a excellent player. Thanks much, Rock On!

Nice recap, really cool jam. I have always liked Squiers and I have lost count of how many I have. They are one of my favorite mod platforms.
Squierfenderized stratocaster! 😮 😊Good build platform! Thanks Shreddermister 🤘
Yeah perfect guitar for a mod!
I got one when they came out and immediately put on locking tuners, a pre-loaded pickguard, changed out the nut, and added a string tree. It didn't really need all of that stuff, but it turned out really cool.
Great review and awesome intro btw Richard!

It looks way better than the white pick guard one for sure and I didn't even see the way it was before but I can tell you that it looks good now...
thanks, looks like a decent mod platform.

Love the pick gaurd color. Looks real good with the sunburst

How in the hell did you get that sound out of that! That sounded amazing!
Great Review as always great neutral commentary real sold on the instrument!
Sounds good when you play it using ur effects But definitely doesn't sound like a strat..

Richard I bought a Jackson Rhoades Minion based upon your review. I know this will be as good an axe! Thanks.
The new price made me buy 2, both are amazing
For the price, it is a great upgrade platform... I could do a Squier/Guitarfetish mashup. Gotta think about it!
Nice Demo there brother...I would've modified it...
Its a Squier, cause one to become nauseous and Leo to roll over in his grave.
Great Deal ! Awesome!
Killer deal man! 👋
Can't go wrong for $99
Has this kind of deal been made for the SG or Les Paul specials?
The guitar looks good.
Strat is cool and all but you might the only other person I've ever seen that that has those book style Lord of the Rings extended Dvd's. I'll never get rid of mine! lol
Pelon shredder how is the tuning stability on those squier?
Very good, but I never use the whammy bar.
I have one, it sounds excellent
It's a great mod platform. I'd get one if I had sold the 2 builds I have on ebay.
I have been playing but have taken like a couple of year hiatus and I got myself a donner..fender shmender

Mine has 2 singles and 1 humbucker.
$239 here in rackateering canada
Sup with leo jaymz o. Ali express, tney have sold out colors. Worth it ?
I posted this deal on slicky deals a few days back.
Ok mine is beautiful but out of the box needed set up like crazy and I think the frets may cut my fingers other than that ot is awesome
I almost bought one . Sweet AXE
The Bullets were $99 for a while.
Perfect guitar for a beginner. Only $100 how could you go wrong?
It looks like a huge fingerboard, definitely bigger the 42 Mm at the nut.
41 mm at the nut
Spec's???
Is it the thin body?
yes
Since it's made under the Fender umbrella of companies it is NOT. considered a Stratocaster copy.
I bought one. It’s the worst guitar I’ve ever played. I’m going to level, dress, and polish the frets, but until then it’s worthless.

ah my friend in Canada Amazon wont ship 99$ woulbe be 140$ CDN$ they cheapset one on Aamazon or is store is 279$ cdn$ its the Sonic series
The Cheapocaster!!
With these you get what you pay for
I know you cannot expect too much for 99 dollars. But the burst looks like a 1 year old did it with a can of rustoleum.
One fact people fail to recognize is that there are other places to shop besides China.
Yeah I'm sure the taxes are going to go up on everything I'm more worried about the powers that be in the world not being here in just a bit

No song
Don't buy Chinese products,, go look on Craig's list there's plenty of good guitars on there
Only in the U.S. too bad
I'm gonna pass on this one, when you dismantlte the pickups you discover why the tone is that thin :')
Lets see, probably a bullet or alike

Wrong! It's every OTHER Tuesday 😅

Its a Squier, fine for a home practice, wouldn't be seen used by a professional on any stage or in a studio recording, be so embarrassing.
