I have thought for a while that Gibson might go to Japan for "in-line" and keep the US for Custom Shop only. Less staff, less are (rent), $6K+ US builds.
I personally wouldn't care if Gibson left America (I'm English anyway) but given how much they pride themselves on being American it would be funny. It'd be cool if they could bring the price down a bit
Oh my goodness. I love that Studio Session. If it's priced right ($2000-ish, less than a Standard) I'll be bringing one of these home. 3600 AUD is 2300 USD as you said, but their prices also include VAT. A $2000 price tag makes sense since the Modern Studio probably didn't sell well, and Gibson realized they need to give more for the same money, since they can't very well charge less. That article is completely made up.
I don’t see Gibson moving from made in USA. Maybe they might move their “cheaper” Gibson’s to Indonesia like the studio modern lites but I doubt they’d do that even. They’ve got Epiphone made in china as their more affordable option but even they are getting up there. Here in Australia those high end Epiphone’s are $2,800 the same price as the Gibson modern lite is
I was at my local Guitar Center store yesterday, and they had 2 of the new Les Paul Studio Sessions hanging on the wall, 1 trans black and 1 honey burst. They looked really nice, and they were priced at $1,999. I got one of the new LP Studios that came out a couple months ago and it is fantastic, so I have high hopes for the Session as well. Might have to check one out.
I like that they're now doing a "regular" Jimmy 1275, hopefully it's only the beginning of his guitars. I wonder what a Gibson USA #1 would be priced at
Leaving America won't ruin Gibson, their pricing, quality control issues (given the price), and overall attitude will. Or already has. I like their guitars and all but yikes. My $750 Epiphone Koa custom makes great music, makes me feel happy, and I literally do not care where in the universe it was made.

I looked around at new epis, and there is no way in hell I would spend a grand on a Chinese made guitar. So I bought a Gibson studio. It’s amazing, pleked, plays like a dream, and made in good old USA. It was worth the extra money for me.
If gibson moves out of country, it would ruin their brand.
That Fender eclipse Burst is my favorite they have next to that Blue outside Black inside “night Burst” they have, that reminds me of Pandora from Guitar hero
Fender calls that burst finish with the blue edge and black center “dark night”
What about the Fender Ultra 2 series?
I had to restring a JP Double neck & I went through the same thing with getting strings that were long enough. I contacted Ernie Ball/D'addario/Picato etc etc & they all said they didn't make strings that were long enough for the 12 neck due to reasons mentioned in the video HOWEVER I did find a set that were just about long enough ( despite Ernie Ball telling me no they wouldn't fit!) - Ernie Ball 12 Nickel Custom Sets will fit:)
If they are going to Indonesia they are out for a money grab , labor is super cheap and quality will suffer!
Really ? Did your Apple products suffer after they moved to China ? 🤣
@@bxsoup A company in the area that I live in receives yarn from this country it if very low quality and the only reason they buy from them is because it's cheap, worker's earn very very low pay , ih other words labor is extra cheap, that's the reason Gibson is wanting to move there , quality will suffer!
@@bxsoup I'm not that uneducated, apple is a simple product that people think it's thing that makes them better than anybody else,,,!
I honestly think they are starting to get concerned about the fakes now. I would be all for it! them offering a cheaper overseas model with the Gibson logo most people could actually afford.
I love my firefly guitars 😊
My student ordered a Gibson Super 400 , for 14.000$ 4 years ago. Beautiful and great sounding guitar. The finish under the neck extension though was still full of buffing grease, unbelievable that something like that happens. Well it happaned on a american made guitar. Who thinks, that chinese craftsman are worse than americans is not only stupid, but ignorant overall.😊
Moving? Maybe, maybe not. But best to grab a used Gibson right now, since there are some amazing bargains to be had in the currently slow used market.
i hope Gibson does move offshore. My 2015 Gibson LPJ will double in value overnight.
SO "Made in the USA" may be going up in value, after they are no longer available
Or not, if the Indonesian ones are cheaper and better made.
I just got my eclipse strat today, limited to 400!
No for Gibson products made anywhere else
I got that Stratocaster Eclipse !!! I got so lucky because the one I got has insanely beautiful flame on the back of the neck compared to the ones I’ve seen in my local Guitar Center. The ones in my GC still had beautiful flame but the one I got the flames were more pronounced !!
OMG IVE SHOPPED IN VIVACE MUSIC
I have thought for a while that Gibson might go to Japan for "in-line" and keep the US for Custom Shop only. Less staff, less are (rent), $6K+ US builds.
Just buy a PRS
The specs you show on the Strat says RW fretboard and the guitar you show is maple.
if they do this then the price best drop by 70%.....
NO, i would not buy a non-usa gibson.
good !-now maybe they can sell them for realistic prices😂
Which guitar center?
I like that they're now doing a "regular" Jimmy 1275, hopefully it's only the beginning of his guitars. I wonder what a Gibson USA #1 would be priced at
Leaving America won't ruin Gibson, their pricing, quality control issues (given the price), and overall attitude will. Or already has. I like their guitars and all but yikes. My $750 Epiphone Koa custom makes great music, makes me feel happy, and I literally do not care where in the universe it was made.
Guitar center is calling the supreme sea smoke but on the box from Gibson it says Nordic blue
Annoys me that to get the product info i have to go to some site, its not at the store. Inconvenient.
The only way I would ever buy a Gibson is if I found one at a garage sale or other dirt cheap score to sell on for profit.
Those are sold on zzounds those studio sessions?
I played the Eclipse finished Strat at a Guitar Center last week. The neck on that one was also very figured and very cool looking.
