My favorite thing in this game is still just cruising around Ibiza and Oahu/Hawaii, not doing races. Just the open world, discovering wrecks, photo locations (the requested ones for game-completion purposes), making photos yourself and just taking in the views. Not to forget to get all the furniture xD I really liked hanging around in the houses and rearranging cars in the garage to make themed garages (italian cars, classics etc). No other game comes even close to that Also other games still don't let you use the indicators or the windows reeeee
I forgot about those photo requests. I personally liked roleplaying that I was hauling the camera equipment in an SUV and use that to go to the different locations (outside of the car shots, of course)
I don’t understand how we have more technology now and no other car game even comes close to the realness of tdu to me it’s still the best/ most realistic racing game ever
TDU2 came out a week before my birthday, whilst I was in my first year at university. I was so excited to get it that I cycled for over an hour into the city centre to buy it. No regrets, it's one of my favourite racing games of all time. Almost entirely because of the stuff you can do outside of the actual racing.
This is the best game of my childhood. Cars, graphic, music, houses, shops, dealers, clubs, friends, mods, weather, explore and many many more. I was totally "inside" game life for many years and I still come back to this game sometimes. Everything in that game feels like real life experience. I'm sure that there won't be a game even close to TDU2. Nothing can beat that production.
Those buildings that you said were probably planning to use are actual Ibiza famous clubs (at least in 2011). Theres the one of the video and theres another in downtown. I was amazed when I googled Ibiza clubs back in 2012 and the accuracy was astonishing. This game is epic !
Oh man. I loved the TDU series. The handling was, let's just say... it took some getting used to. But I found the games so imersive that the handling took a back seat for me at some point. The games simply offered so much that you practically never got bored. I can't say anything about the multiplayer, because I prefer single player. Soon we'll finally get a new game. Hopefully they won't screw it up...
you r sure man I love TDU1 more than TDU2 the car handling on high speed like Saleen was not like any racing game and the gear a lot of pplz that days don't know we start our cars with 3rd gears switch to 5 then 6 and on the corners we make a high speed drift not brake only with the gears from 6 to 5 or 4 I was on the top time records on some multiplayers
There is no other game on the face of the planet i want some kind of remaster/steam rerelease of more than this. I loved the single player experience. I never tried the online, but i remember my sister made me beat the entire game once over as a girl character so she could play the online with her friends like it was a barbie game, with the dress up, and driving convertibles back and forth to her friends houses lol
TDU2 was a vibe!! It looked so good that it sucked the life out of my gpu and was averageing about 15fps, but i loved every momment of it. It started my love for ibiza
My number one issue with racing games today is progression. I have never been a fan of getting a new car every race, and free wheel spins like Forza, where it constantly feels like I'm being celebrated. The game always wants to give you another free something, and having 50 cars in my garage feels more like a car changing simulator and the cars have no meaning to me. You buy a car, max it out. and whatever it is, its a rocket. A racing game could drastically improve its life cycle by making money actually mean something. If you had to spend a reasonable amount of time maintaining and modifying a vehicle, it would give the player the chance to care about them. I think TDU2 did much better to build an environment than competitors even today. Id also like to some sort of instanced street races. Maybe quick 1 minutes meet ups to organize and bet on the race. No menu! Just people able to exit in the vehicle in instanced areas and check out others cars. Building these worlds up a bit is what gives them the depth to bring the people who enjoy the genre in. Also i don't know a single person that would complain about gas stations and a simplistic fuel system added. Not one. Car dealerships, Clothing, real estate, Cars and Coffees, and events. They should build a world to explore with your friends over time, instead of the amphetamine style gameplay where your friends just happen to be there too.
Having fast cars and a nice home in TDU was something special. Just even make it through the whole solar crown was special. Strange driving physics and having no traction control during the driving license test was really hard. But meeting and doing quick races, showing of cars and homes and just cruise through the maps with friends was just awesome. Forza Horizon 5 feels like a quick hop in and get some cars, thats it... Houses are useless and the map way to small for such fast cars. TDU was hard but it felt so much better. Just simply more special.
I absolutely hate that in Forza... The game gets boring so fast when you're practically having cars thrown at you for doing basically nothing. I've never understood why they went with that approach. They don't seem to understand that gamers enjoy a "zero to hero" progression arc, especially in racing games. Forza is probably the only game that's managed to make me feel awkward with the cringe way it tries to suck up to you all the time. 🤣 I always really hated the day-night cycle in Forza too... Sometimes I just want to cruise around at night, with some music on and soak up the atmosphere. Something I used to love doing in TDU2... Taking a genuinely long drive down the west coast of Oahu.
Honestly this game is the nearest racing game we ever got to being perfect, with some tweaks to its physics, modernisations of its graphics (even just slightly) and more things to do (especially in single player) it'd be truly perfect. I wish we had an indie game like this but even better modding capabilities, because it'd be single handedly the best racing game ever made.
I swear test drive unlimited 2 Felt like the very beginning of what could eventually turn into an amazing open world racing RPG!!!! I really think that’s what the video game industry needs and hopefully the upcoming test Drive game will be the ultimate version of this?!
With Radiant, I hope that's what they do. Even adding homes letter under Radiant tells me they plan to build the world up. They have a 5 year plan for the game (hope that happens). They had a lot of things planned for the past two but we know how that went. This game spoiled me. Had to get my fix through gtao
I played tdu1 and 2 back when they first came out on 360 I ran those games into the ground I played them so damn much I've always loved this series I've always thought of tdu as a racing MMO I really hope the new one will still have what made these games amazing
I remember spending hours trying to get the Audi R8. Never ended up getting it back in the day. Amazing game well ahead of its time. Yeah the handling isn't the best but everything else in the game makes up for it. One thing you didn't mention was turn signals and the ability to put your window up and down and if it's a convertible you can bring the top up or down. Also that the islands are 1 to 1 scale to the real thing.
What did you think of Test Drive Unlimited 2? Let me know your opinions and leave a like and sub if you enjoyed the video, I hope you have a fantastic day! ♥️
Oh ye, i remember playing it on my ps3, i love the whole car selection and open world aspects, also just looking at the cars in all the different dealerships, better than gran turismo in my opinion😀, i remember being super sad when they disabled servers, at least i can play singlplayer on ps3, looking forward to try the pc modded version, but i dont have much time now for pc stuff
@@keysmccormick8630 Improving the handling and making the races replayable would go a long way for TDU2, TDU1 maybe could do with a couple things here or there, but mostly graphics I think
I loved the game but missed a couple things from the first.. I remember the hype when i saw the trailer with ghetto burning song playing.. I was living in some dark days in some dark place and that trailer was one of the brighter moments of the time..
Tdu 2 is life. The wilder brothers are squabbling again. also if i remember rightly the casino island is actually the newer updated version of what used to be the secret island back in the day from tdu1.. You had to drive through the e on a mountain to get teleported to it.
This series is just too much. It wasn't perfect but my lord. As just a game...there are few that can give you the feel like tdu. Truly transport you somewhere else
I played the heck out of TDU1 when it came out, it was so good with the g25 I had back then. When TDU2 came out I jumped right in full of excitement only to realise wheel is not supported and physics are super bad. I was put off and never came back to the game. If racing game doesnt drive well Im just not interested. It was actually the same with GTA V at first but then Real Driving mod came in to save the day.
Something worth noting: there’s major differences between pre and post DLC versions. Top speeds were tweaked, gear ratios changed, the Veyron sound was changed for the worse imo, Zonda/SLR sound massively upgraded, the V12 Aston’s sound like V8’s, and most importantly the handling was changed. I prefer pre-update I find the cars are significantly smoother and don’t lose speed on bumps as much. My friend disagrees and prefers post update, claiming the cars take turns more responsively. Both have major upsides as the highest possible speed is only limited by the size of the map and smoothness/straightness of the roads. We’ve taken the Supersport deep into the 290’s
Great Video! The new TDU coming up was my hope as well but they already said that the map will be way smaller so they can put more "action" into it. Having these massive maps in TDU2 was one of my favorite things. Driving endlessly on the island was sooo awesome! My first real try with racing games after TDU2 and the older NfS games was Forza Horizon 5. The modding of cars, physics and graphics are awesome but the map size was a big disappointment. WIth a fast car it feels like you can see the whole map in 15 minutes. As well every house isn't usable. You can buy them and then... Nothing. In game chat? Not in open drive, only 4 pre-selected lines... Getting cars is so uneventful and you feel fed up by the map so quickly. TDU2 was almost going in an GTA direction which I loved so much. Probably the reason why I play so much GTA Online.
I only played a pirat copy of the game (the only thing I could get in a third world country with a top internet speed of 30kb/s) so no online features, but my god I love playing this every August, is my anual trip to Ibiza and Hawaii. Only driving my Veyron targa while blasting 'Gold, guns, girls' by Metric makes me happy.
I was a huge fan of the game when it lunched, put on so many hours ! I had everything in the game, even won the R8 at the Sloth machine.. was an amazing game in is prime
I found the 1st game was better with the hardcore assist that you had to buy haha. This made the game class. I did end up 100% both the games though and loved the fact it would take quite some time to drive round the map if cruising. Hawaii was 130 miles if you went round the edge of the map in a loop
An amazing game! Shame I never played it back in the day. Now I'm playing it with the Project Paradise 2 mod! I'm glad I took it up last year. If you want to find me, I'm known as CarlRaven in there.
Came here for some entertainment about a great game I loved to play back in the days - and left with jiggly physics reminder on top of it! Great effort mate! :D Have a good one.
I didn't get the chance to buy the game 6 or 7 days ago when I got really hoked when I watched it on youtube, I finally got to play it last year, I plated it 2 times, such an amazing game ❤️
I loved how TDU2 was ahead of its time having feature we’ve never expect from such a juggernaut of a game. This game was awesome but had a few problems or issues but I like this game.
Also, god damn my laptop's in-built security system detects that certain files within TDU2's files were harmful and malware. I swear to god I don't believe it at all. It should had working well and still pissed me off tho :(
its like open world racing games parted their own ways now, gotta keep a lookout for the new games, like the tdu solar crown witch is gonna come latter this year and more
This was an absolute blast from the past! I loved playing back in the day, and remember that I got the outlaw car but still had a few more cashes to complete before getting the police car. I certainly remember the poor performance on launch day though - jesus it just didn't want to connect. It was a pity that they didn't have the Saleen S7 as that was my absolute fav from TDU1.
There was only ever two things I hated in this game...okay, three 1. The handling, it felt much more natural in TDU1 2. The lack of replayable race events. I would've liked to have the option to grind for more money 3. MIAMI'S PINK MUSTANG! At some point I was able to sell it though, I don't know if it was in some sort of update or fluke though
This game and TDU1 are hidden gems. I'm so grateful to have it on my steam library. Shame I get ridiculously low framerates, rendering it unplayable! Weird thing is, when I first installed it on my laptop and ran the unofficial patch, the game ran smoothly and with high framerates. Then a day later, the frame drops out of the blue. Sad.
maybe you should consider an upgrade to your pc, i have a shitty gt 710 which almost runs the game at 60fps 720p and medium/low settings but i know for sure a gpu like rx580 will smash it even with mods and patches.
I always wanted to play this game, it's unique take on the racing genre is something i really wanted to try, but no matter what I tried, the game just wouldn't save. So I had to drop it
TODAY my tdu2 disk came in it’s been since about 2015 I last owned the game. Played it at my friend and neighbors house a few times in between now and then and I’m finally back. Game was my childhood, that and Forza Motorsport 4. That disk also happened to come in today :D
Oh man. I 100%-ed TDU1 back on the PS2. Played TDU2 on the 360 but never really got into it. The story put me off. Also, I didn't have online. Ought to play through both 1 and 2 while waiting for Solar Crown.
TDU 2 will always be my favorite racing game. The licenses, the explorable interiors, the maps. I have yet to play a racing game that I like more. Midnight Club comes close, but they fill two completely different niches.
Played TDU recently ins sequence, and my hot take is: TDU1 is better than 2, why? Well, I like the feeling of the first game more, the progression is more arcade and I like the car selection of the 1st game the most (yeah its personal taste), sure TDU 2 had a better map and the campaing have a story, still I felt way more engaged going for the first game events than the second, the general progression felt way better.
People don’t ever mention that while in free mode you could get in other people’s car and cruise around the map, I mean that’s so dope
That was also doable? Actually didn't know that while recording for this

Man, I remember driving around the racetrack with randoms and ending up racing
Only driving my Veyron targa while blasting 'Gold, guns, girls' by Metric makes me happy.
was not expecting @DarkViperAU to have a cameo at 5:30
One of my favorite things was parking out away from anything, get out in nature and just wait for rain. The rain was a vibeee
Toyota is missing? I swear I ran a mk4 Supra mostly. Maybe I’m thinking of nfs world
@@reeewhydoihavetochangethese supra mk4 is available in Unofficial Patch by Xarlith
I was a huge fan of the game when it lunched, put on so many hours ! I had everything in the game, even won the R8 at the Sloth machine.. was an amazing game in is prime
3:27 hehe I approve of the music choice
I found the 1st game was better with the hardcore assist that you had to buy haha. This made the game class. I did end up 100% both the games though and loved the fact it would take quite some time to drive round the map if cruising. Hawaii was 130 miles if you went round the edge of the map in a loop
TDU was so ahead of it's time Forza Horizon and GTA Online are literally STILL copying it to this fucking day. Absolute banger of a game.
thankyou for notifying i dont need to buy it now ive been waiting for this
5:27
Loved the DarkViperAU reference there, clap clap.
Such a great in-depth game review bro 😁👍🏽 and the addition of Ridge Racer Music in the background made it even more enjoyable 🔥
I loved TDU2 cruising around with a few mates
Yeah, fr best part about it
An amazing game!
Likewise man, have a good one aswell!
Features*
Also, god damn my laptop's in-built security system detects that certain files within TDU2's files were harmful and malware. I swear to god I don't believe it at all. It should had working well and still pissed me off tho :(
its like open world racing games parted their own ways now, gotta keep a lookout for the new games, like the tdu solar crown witch is gonna come latter this year and more
DUDE I COULD NOT REMEMBER THE NAME OF THIS GAAAAME I PLAYED THE DEMO ALLL THE TIME OH MY GOD THANK YOU
This was an absolute blast from the past!
WOW amazing vid (I give it 5 stars out of 5)
TDU2 was what NFS used to be with underground 1&2. And no other racing game really hit like that ever again.
The right game made with the wrong physics engine. Huge backstep compared to the first TDU.
I played TDU a lot up until they shut down the servers and never played tdu2... I pursued the IRL Driving and jiggle physics instead.
I used to climb mountains
Man, back in the days I spent countless hours just cruising the island, it's fun.
You forgot to mention that you can customize the houses
2:30 😂😭😂😭 Howling at that my friend! 😂😂😂
Yakuza 0 substory music at 6:28 got me
GOAT racing game and its not even a debate.
This game was legendary. I miss it all the time.
Wow I thought I recognise the backing track on the intro is from gran turismo 2 nostalgia right there
Even though some of our views on this game differ quite a bit, this is still a really good review.
This game had ferraris when other games couldnt get a license and DROP TOPS THAT WORKED such a fun to roam around. Massive map as well!
There was only ever two things I hated in this game...okay, three
1. The handling, it felt much more natural in TDU1
2. The lack of replayable race events. I would've liked to have the option to grind for more money
3. MIAMI'S PINK MUSTANG! At some point I was able to sell it though, I don't know if it was in some sort of update or fluke though
Yes, u can't forget games like Test Drive Unlimited 2 and Driver SF (underrated asf) if u have played them
Eden Games is a french studio, F.R.I.M. is probably a wordplay on "frimer" wich would translate to showing off
This seems fun
big thumbs up for highlighting one the most memorable racing games to me (and also yakuza ost!)
that game was a big part of my childhood
This game and TDU1 are hidden gems. I'm so grateful to have it on my steam library. Shame I get ridiculously low framerates, rendering it unplayable! Weird thing is, when I first installed it on my laptop and ran the unofficial patch, the game ran smoothly and with high framerates. Then a day later, the frame drops out of the blue. Sad.
maybe you should consider an upgrade to your pc, i have a shitty gt 710 which almost runs the game at 60fps 720p and medium/low settings but i know for sure a gpu like rx580 will smash it even with mods and patches.
The game that started my gambling addiction all by releasing a casino dlc
I appreciate the use of the Driver Soundtrack
I always wanted to play this game, it's unique take on the racing genre is something i really wanted to try, but no matter what I tried, the game just wouldn't save. So I had to drop it
Didn't expect to hear matto in this video😂
dude, the monitor you put in the intro is the exactly the same where in this moment i watch your video
The interiors of the cars were so good
My first online game ever, glorius
TODAY my tdu2 disk came in it’s been since about 2015 I last owned the game. Played it at my friend and neighbors house a few times in between now and then and I’m finally back. Game was my childhood, that and Forza Motorsport 4. That disk also happened to come in today :D
Oh man. I 100%-ed TDU1 back on the PS2. Played TDU2 on the 360 but never really got into it. The story put me off. Also, I didn't have online. Ought to play through both 1 and 2 while waiting for Solar Crown.
The idea that Ibiza is “glamorous” is hilarious to me.
I hope TDU solar crown doesnt disappoint
i remember how we cruised or just chilled on the cliffs.
I loved the game. What held it back was the servers, I think that they didn’t anticipate the player numbers.
Ye fr or just wasn't ready for release. Anyway, I'm glad that PP2 is a lot better now.
Haven't touched it in years, I suppose it's worth reinstalling and see who jumps online : )
I really miss the future that I thought we were going to have in the 2000s.
I need to finish this game one day, whenever i got the motivation to reinstall the game and PP2 again
I like that that background music is from need for speed undercover 2 garage music
Love the DarkViperAU refrance 😂
So this is Forza Horizon before Forza Horizon, big map, a lot of cars, wrecks to restore, houses to buy 😮
Still think of this game alllll the time :(
You can also play the game online with TDU world
Neat darkviperau reference with Agatha 😂
You’re an outstanding TH-cam channel.
TDU 2 will always be my favorite racing game. The licenses, the explorable interiors, the maps. I have yet to play a racing game that I like more. Midnight Club comes close, but they fill two completely different niches.
TDU Solar crown has been in my steam wishlist for so long and I'm still waiting for that day I get notified there's a release date 😔
Oh and the music selection in the series mmmmm mama mia.
Played TDU recently ins sequence, and my hot take is:
TDU1 is better than 2, why? Well, I like the feeling of the first game more, the progression is more arcade and I like the car selection of the 1st game the most (yeah its personal taste), sure TDU 2 had a better map and the campaing have a story, still I felt way more engaged going for the first game events than the second, the general progression felt way better.
That's not a hot take, that's a fact.
