They're called the Blades of Chaos in this game, indicating these are the very blades that killed Kratos' family. How he got them back is something we'll have to find out in the next game.
Such a powerful scene. Reminded me of Unforgiven, when Munny faces Little Bill at the bar and he affirms that he's killed women and children. Just, like this, he knows he's a monster. But unfortunately, he is a necessary evil. In the end there's always a chance for redemption.

This scene hits me hard... I knew there was a reason i was drawn to this game so much... Seeing how much I have in common with Kratos, now i know why...
My girl took her own life and I still feel responsible.. I feel like I killed my family like Kratos has, so seeing him pick up those blades knowing he is a monster and has to dip back into his old life is something I deeply understand.
the Blades of Chaos were forged in Tartarus by Ares, presumably, and he gave them to Kratos, the blades were permanently attached to Kratos's arms during the battle in Athens, after Kratos grew giant due to absorbing power from Pandora's Box, Ares retrieved the Blades of Chaos from Kratos, and after Ares was killed, the Blades of Chaos were lost and replaced by the Blades of Athena provided by Athena after falling into the River Styx due to Gaea's betrayal, the Blades of Athena were destroyed and the ghost of Athena replaced them with the Blades of Exile Kratos tossed the Blades of Exile aside when he went to finish Zeus by beating him to death with his bare hands later on, after his revival following his suicidal sacrifice to release hope to humanity, Kratos saw that the Blades of Chaos had returned and were now following him around, they were no longer permanently attached to his arms, so he could toss them far away if he wished, but they never stayed away for too long and kept finding their way back to him

I think kratos kept them not to bury his past directly, but to remind him of what he’s done in his past, and to remind himself to be far better then he was years ago
I was really sad when I heard that Mike's daughter passed away and that he feels responsible for it(any dad would) even though he couldn't have does anything about it. In some way it is similar to Kratos and his daughter, Calliope's fate.
I thought Athena was suppose to be "good." To call her own brother a monster? As if to remind him of his horrible past of killing his family and being filled with rage.
Not necessarily. She was an ally to Kratos in the first game to defeat Ares, she was overall loyal to Zeus in the second, and in the third, she wanted the power of hope that Kratos took into himself to defeat Zeus, but Kratos unleashed that hope into the world after he saw the results of him killing most of the pantheon.
Why does the title say “find” and “meets”? He knew where the blades were the whole time and he already met Athena! It should be “recovers” and “reunites”
While I think Kratos is seeing an hallucinations. Athena voices sounds “heavenly” she and dissipates when Kratos makes contact with her . It seems Athena may have a limited ability to use her ethereal form to communicate with Kratos. Or she is simply a hallucination.
I just went through previous games to confirm and he should not have the blades of chaos by any means, they were ripped out of his arms on the final battle with ares in gow1, after he wins Athena gives him the blades of Athena which he uses though all gow2 and the beginning of gow3. Aaron Flores because the blades of chaos are the ones he used to kill his own wife and daughter. They used these blades to give this moment more meaning
I thought that too but they are named and LOOK like the blades of chaos. Its not out of the realm of possibility that he kept them. Remember he was the god of war at some point, maybe he got them back as a collectable cuz remember the blades of exile were pretty banged up at the end of 3
MisterTbone hmm if they are named that in game i guess im wrong but it would make more sense if they were blades of exile since they are the last blades you see and use, remember you lost all those diffrent blades a long time ago, wouldnt make much sense to suddenly get them from god knows where after you basicly end the world at Greece
I think that the devs put the Blades of chaos in the game instead of the other blades cause it would atleast make the game a little competitive considering the Blades of Exile were way powerful in my opinion.
Jonathan Gin the blades of exile look way different those are the blades of chaos The blades of exile have a black color and demons with horns The blades of chaos are gray with gold and demon skulls So these are the blades of chaos not of exile
my bad they are the blades of chaos strange how he has those tho the last blades he had were the blades of exile i thought he lost the blades of chaos against ares and then lost the blades of athena at the beginning of god of war 3
The blades of chaos were never actually destroyed, just ripped from his arms. During the time between god of war 3 and this game, it is possible Kratos recovered the blades of chaos. I don't think he actually got them back out of nostalgia, it was probably due to the fact that those are the blades he used to kill his family, and to avoid them falling onto the wrong hands.
I think it is because Kratos killed his wife and daughter in his old life and now he's trying to be a father to Atreus but he will never be able to undo the pain he caused and that's why he will "always be a monster" as Athena states.
I've never seen so many spoilers in a title, like really? Think about other people, at least put SPOILER ALERT or something jeez, thank God I didn't see this on the 21st !
guys, the blades of chaos are actually the blades of athena, that are actually the blades of exile, they were just modified by Athena (like brok and sindri) in previous gow games but in essence they're all the blades of chaos.
The fact that the actor cried while doing this scene, and later said, " this is a love letter to my children" makes it more sentimental to me.

Sencor Kanalas they don't look at all like the Blades of Exile. They are definitely the Blades of Chaos
Lord Omega you are right the blades of exile have demons with horns
Sencor Kanalas the blades of chaos have a demon skull the difference is that the blades of exile have demons with horns
😢
Me: I'm so sad, games doesn't give me the hype they used to when i was a child
God of war:
mds São as lâminas do caos
I think that the devs put the Blades of chaos in the game instead of the other blades cause it would atleast make the game a little competitive considering the Blades of Exile were way powerful in my opinion.
Blades hold more history than America
too bad the hades claw was damaged
3 things: Those are called the Blades of Exile, he didn't find them he was the one who put them there, and he didn't meet Athena she appeared
Jonathan Gin the blades of exile look way different those are the blades of chaos
The blades of exile have a black color and demons with horns
The blades of chaos are gray with gold and demon skulls
So these are the blades of chaos not of exile
Ronald Pinkerton there was 3,000 years between GoW3 and this game, so he probably retrieved them as a reminder of his past
my bad they are the blades of chaos strange how he has those tho the last blades he had were the blades of exile i thought he lost the blades of chaos against ares and then lost the blades of athena at the beginning of god of war 3
1:51 Why does Athena emphasize Kratos pretending to be a father?
I think it is because Kratos killed his wife and daughter in his old life and now he's trying to be a father to Atreus but he will never be able to undo the pain he caused and that's why he will "always be a monster" as Athena states.
Ugly ass armor killed the scene
I've never seen so many spoilers in a title, like really? Think about other people, at least put SPOILER ALERT or something jeez, thank God I didn't see this on the 21st !
Or you know stay off TH-cam since this was going to happen anyways. No ones fault here but yours.
No u
Dead meme.
guys, the blades of chaos are actually the blades of athena, that are actually the blades of exile, they were just modified by Athena (like brok and sindri) in previous gow games but in essence they're all the blades of chaos.
Moita XIX but these are the original blades. The Blades of Exile were discarded before killing Zeus.
Why they changed zeus and athena voices ?
