Blades of chaos was transformed to Blades of exile to kill zeus, after the blades finish its purpose, it will return to the blade of chaos.
But like they are the blades of Athena not the blades of chaos. Different weapons.

I think they are all the same blades. The Blades of Chaos were transformed into The Blades of Athena and, later, in The Blades of Exile. After the battle with Zeus The Blades of Exile lost their magic and become the Blades of Chaos one's more.

So let me get this straight for everyone: Blades of Chaos and Blades of Athena are two sperate weapons.
Blades of Chaos: Weapons that were given to Kratos by Ares before the events of his curse.
Blades of Athena: Weapons with the same style with Blades of Chaos, though they are different. They were stored in Ares' arsenal, and later were claimed by Kratos as he was the New God of War. Kratos used them mainly since they were more powerful and effective as an olympian weapon, in the beginning of GoW 3, they got rusted and lost shape when Kratos fell to the River Styx. They were shortly after enchanced to the Blades of Exile by Athena as seen in this scene. They did not return to their original form they are still the same. But Kratos threw them away cause he didnt need them anymore as well as the other olympian weapons and magic.
So yeah thats it, these two weapons are NOT THE SAME even though they share the same style and mechanics. They are two sperate weapons.
@@kudinturtles4462 because they are his own weapons. He threw away the Blades of Exile in the end of GoW 3 cause he didnt need them and also didnt want them anyway. As I said they are 2 seperate weapons. Kratos was keeping his blades somewhere else so he Just took them and got out of Greece after the events of GoW 3.

@@kudinturtles4462 also we still dont know what happened after GoW 3 but probably another reason is that he took them while leaving Greece cause he wouldnt have any weapon to fight with otherwise.

Guys after kratos "killed himself" he went to ares's tomb for the blades of chaos, Ares left them in a world kratos thought he could save his wife and daughter, the reason he took them because they are the only weapons that can killed him and there was only two or one gods left
Gow1 - Blades of chaos to blades of athena
Gow2 - Blades of athena
Gow3 - Blades of athena(damage and rusted in river of styx) to blades of exile
Gow4 - Blades of chaos (as the reigning god of war in gow2 kratos have all the equipments of the late god of war ares including blades of chaos, no matter how he throw away the blades it always returning to its master which kratos the last god of war)
Actually the blades of Athena were damaged by Zeus' attack

The Blades of Athena are a different weapon alltogether. It wasn't the upraded version of the Blades of Chaos.
@@theonewhoismany8072 it is. In god of war 2, when Kratos drained his god power to blade of olympus, you can see the blue blades of athena downgrades to blade of chaos. It is literally in the gameplay

The blades of chaos returning in 4 can only be explained with the information we got in ragnarok.
So here's the explanation: the blades of exile disappeared because olympus was detroyed and Freya said that magic is tied to the earth it came from, so it got destroyed as well. while the blades of chaos stayed because it was made from primordial flame (flame older than both olympus and the 9 realms). And while Kratos never grabbed the blades in between 3 and 4, the blades keep following him (said from one of the boat dialogues and the comic book)
I also Feel If Athena's Blades are the same as The Blades of Chaos it has its Fire from the Titan Thera that Kratos had the Power of In Gow Ghost of Sparta and also fueled the Blades after being drained of its Godly Power at the Beginning of Gow 2( Which ties Gow 2 and Gow Ghost of Sparta).
I like how the color changes, perfect for the theme of limbo since he is calling the army of sparta

They returned to their original forms when their purpose was fulfilled, I guess.
No kratos was keep the blades of chaos that after kratos got blades of athena he keep it somewhere then in gow 4 he use it again for easy journey then the axe
After killing Ares and taking his place as the God of War, Kratos gained all of Ares' weapons, including the Blades of Chaos though he vowed never to use them again.

Never it explains how the blades got there in chapter 37 of the god war novelization of the game
In the end he suicided and fell to the sea. I think blades of exile either were given to the world along with athenas powers (hope and evil deeds from gods such as fear) from pandoras box or he just lost em when he threw them to punch Zeus to death. Thats why in world exists evil and hope too. Meanwhile blades of chaos are bound to stick with him forever. Aries is dead and now he can unequip them but still cant get rid of them thats why in god of war 4 he had blades of chaos. Just hidden not in view but still near him
Ares had the blades originally so maybe the just come along with being god of war there a weapon only the god of war can summon and since kratos was the god of war after killing ares and he did regain the power technically is still the Greek god of war and would have the power over them being one of the few gods remaining in the Greek pantheon
Imagine on atreus' journey to find more giants he finds the blades of exile and starts using them

well, if you want to still play with the fully leveled Blades of Athena and retain Kratos's fully leveled previous magics, there is a collectable relic that allows you to do so, if you choose to activate it in new game plus
(I think the item is the "griddle garter of Aphrodite" which you can get by checking behind Aphrodite's bed)

Also I like Athena's Blades since gow 2 was my First Game and they look way Cooler and in Gow 2 and Gow Ghost of Sparta both the red and Golden Blue Blades change when you level them up . And in Gow 2 at the end at certain points the Blades look Blue and Golden

They are not,the blades of chaos are a completely separate set of blade for when Kratos served the gods and the blade of Athena where when he Became one,the blades of exile in not sure on,they're ether the transformed blades of Athena after they were ruined by the styx or a new set from within kratos

It's the theory that makes most sense. Athena literally changes the weapon appearence in this scene showed in the video. I think it's safe to assume she did the same with the blade of chaos in the end of GoW 1, turning it to the blades of athenas

In GOW2 Athena gave him the Blades of Athena entirely new weapons created by her wich rusted and lost their power when he fell in the River Styx. After that Athena turned them in the Blades of Exile wich Kratos dumped on Olympus after he killes Zeus

pretty sure that Gods go to the "void of chaos" after they die, since they supposedly have no souls, but they can still manifest their consciousness in spiritual form after they die, hence why Athena appears as a ghost

I hate this kinds of plot holes you must learn from novels or some other shit. For Gamers point of view - how he get Blades of Chaos again since Ares removed them from Kratos? Armory? Nope. I know this is bigger meaning with Blades of Chaos then Exile but they should adress that in the game for people not knowing novels.
After he became the god of war he gained access to all of Ares' weapons including the Blades of Chaos but vowed to never use them again. After he released hope to mankind Athena cursed Kratos in anger and spite so that no matter what he did and how he tried to rid himself of them, the blades of chaos would never truly leave him.
