This is personally why I do not stand up paddle. It is simply too dangerous. The high speed, the extreme weather you do it in, the insane impacts when you hit the water falling in from 3cm above water level... The risk is just not worth it even for the thrill of going 5kmh with way too much effort
Shoutout to the sailor using your GER7 for showing you're always faster and make effortless gybes with pro gear. 😀 No really, you're a legend for bringing across such positive spirit despite the unfortunate injury, Nico. I wish you a quick recovery allowing for some Sylt comp prep!
Yes 2mm Split Toe Super Freak booties!!! Wear it when you need to protect your feet from rocks, coral or UV. Also I think you can tuck them into your lower mast sleeve to ride bare in the straps. Or use a "mushroom anchor" (which is safe to step on) and rope to an empty milk jug with a clip for the boots - leave it out on the water the whole vacation... Protect feet when not on the windsurf board at all costs!!!
You’re like a rockstar. You’re lucky you’re not doing a more popular sport, otherwise you couldn’t walk the streets without paparazzi coming after you 😂. All jokes apart, you’re a great ambassadors for the sport. And we really really need that.
Sorry that you couldn’t join at me at the IFCA WORLDS in Hvide Sande this week. Hope the healing goes smoothly and quickly. In five years Turkey is gonna be the dominant windsurf country at events. They had so many young sailors at IFCA, super impressive
Hey nico i left alacati right before the day you came😢 i wish i could have met you So sorry for the injury i hope you get well soon. İ hope i could see you next year if you come. 🤙🏼
Exactly at Alacati I've injured my foot by cutting my toes with the windsurf fin. I know it sounds weird but I've fallen towards the back of my board when trying to waterstart and then the board somehow lifted it's tail and exposed the back of the fin which is really sharp and yeah... blood all over and then feeling down. Fortunately they have a great surgery clinic nearby and they sew me nicely. I've recovered in half a year but at that time at Alacati, just the fact that it happened in my 2nd day there and all the rest of my stay I had to sit on a chair and watch everybody speeding around, it was super frustrating. Take some homeopathic Arnica CH7 / CH9 and maybe it'll help speed up the process. Good luck healing fast!
I've always sailed with at least the 2mm ONeil super freak split toe for easier shallow rocky water entry and exit and to protect the skin in the big toe knuckle and prevent sunburn but about zero chance I would have been wearing them for bozo sup session. 😢
A bigger disaster would be if the whole leg was torn off, the knee was broken, the neck was broken and you were paralyzed for the rest of your life. Compared to the above, you got off very lightly. Nice films, thanks.

These kind of mishaps always happen to me on windsurf holidays - good stories to tell at the end 😂😂😂
Beterschap! You have reminded me why I always wear neoprene shoes.
Swift recovery my friend!
Nico I'm so sorry for your injury... come stronger sooner as possible
Ouch! Heal well.....can't wait to watch you on Sylt!

I busted my windshield the exact same way 30 years ago. Welcome to the club.
2:00 Yup, I've done that too, in my Seat Ibiza with slalom gear!

Ohh, sorry to hear.
Thanks!! I’d did take some Arnica, no idea if it helps haha
El mas pro 🥇🥇
"Ehhh waren wir das?" 😭😭😭
Is that the location where Lena Erdil has a windsurf club?

Bad Luck.
Really.
10 stiches is à serious cut
Back on water soon
Good to know! Damn…
Moin Nico, gute Besserung
Seems to be a very nice spot with flat / flattish water! What's the best season to go?
Summer is the safest for wind!
Hey, where can I find information about this Dutch event? Have a good recovery

Thanks! 🙌
That’s a real stupid injury for a high level athlete. Get well soon
As an owner of a shop, you should buy an inflatable roof rack, which no one is thinking he needs one.😅😂
Hast du echt das Paddel abgebrochen 😂Maschiiiiiine! Carbon sticks sind nicht für kraftpakete wie Dich gedacht. Gute Besserung!
😅
Hi, Nico! My name is Kiko, don't worry about your injury. I broke my toe while I was getting into the straps 😂😢
Hah! Uncle had the same thing last week and just continued on going 🤣
The same happened to me 2 days ago. Now I'm duct-taping it to the neighbouring toe. I hate wearing shoes for sailing.
Stupid.. but where do you sign up for stuff like this? is there a organizer?
There is (it’s me 😜)

Oh my god your foot, horror story

Nice films, thanks.
Snel herstel gewenst.
Niemals Türkei-Urlaub.
Weshalb?
So cutting your foot is a “disaster”…….hyperbole reigns
Yeah! you can't windsurf properly if your toe is hanging by a thread 😅
