Best blood sugar levels advice so far. You're doing a great job.👏👌🙏
My doctor was too quick to prescribe Metformin of Which I've never taken. Doc Doesn't know! 😂 After 3 months, blood test A1c came up as 4.9% where as it was elevated at 6.5%. Doctor says keep taking the medication. Little does he know. The advice and knowledge here has been significant. Gratitude 🙏

I finally have time to take care of my health. Sad that I put myself last on my list for all this time. I saw a video online about metabolism syndrome . This was me!
Dr said my blood sugars were fine, they don't take a blood pressure reading at clinics very often. My cholesterol levels were creepy up.
I purchased a BP apparatus. Glucometer machine. I went back to my Dr. & showed him my readings. Now I am officially a type 2 diabetic with a BP & Pulse issue & cholesterol too high .
My point is . We have to be good stewards
    Of our own bodies.
I look forward to gaining knowledge from you. Thank you..Newfoundland 🇨🇦

Bummed I missed your live! I agree with the CGM, my husband tested pre diabetes early this year. His Dr called to put him on medication, I refused this loudly. I was able (wasn't easy) to get them to prescribe a CGM so he can monitor what he eats. Best investment ever, he completely changed his diet and is down over 30lbs by really watching his carbs and sugar.

I had to pay out of pocket for my CGM. I was prediabetic. Doctor refused to put me on cgm. I went from 6.7 to 5.7 . I am glad you fought for your husband’s cgm. Good for you.

@@lucyheart8033 we had to pay out of pocket as well. Makes me sick how the insurance would cover the drug they wanted him on though. I cant wait to see his next A1C results. I have been low carb/keto for a few years so thankfully I didn't have to prepare any special foods for him, he just followed me and cut out cereal, chips, 2 gallons of milk a week, cookies, ice cream. He would over consume these things after he had dinner or at lunch.

I started watching my blood sugar lately for some of the same reasons you have. My grand mother had diabetes & my younger brother was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I also have gained weight so I started Keto and learned a lot from Dr. Bergs Channel about insulin. I don’t think I’m diabetic but like you I’m so asking charge so I don’t get sick. I also learned about how bad sugar is for most people. Also fasting seems to help. Thank you for your channel.

I am type 2 diabetic. I do not have a monitor. What I do is avoid foods that I know make my blood sugar rise. I basicly only eat fatty meats and cruciferous veggy's. No sweets or fruits or obvious carbs. I can eat small portions of legumes. I don't drink milk. No soda. No seed oils. I do drink black coffee. I eat a lot of eggs. I have to stick to this diet. I get sick if I don't. I can't eat between meals either. No snacking. My diet is strict. I have to stay on the diet or I get sick.

Thank you for helping me to be more informed. I have eaten low carb and keto and done intermittent fasting the last 3 years. I was able to get off diabetic and some other meds. The neuropathy is 90% gone from my feet. My inflammation in my body has gone away. But I know I need to be vigilant, as you are. You are helping so many to be better informed and that we need to find how each food makes our blood glucose reacts. I hope CGMs could be more affordable and easier to get.

      @musicofnote1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Great, good to hear that. I've had ideopathic peripheral polyneuropathy since 1999, diagnosed with diabetes Type 2 in 2012, which is why the diagnosis "ideopathic" and not "diabetic" neuropathy. Just had my yearly checkup with the neurologist and as expected, almost no surface feeling in my feet going up past my ankles. Surface sensitivity is now decreasing in my thighs. Fortunately almost no acute symptoms in my hands, although I do drop stuff and had to buy a set of magnetic screw drivers before I retired from my IT job.
Due to a tendency to obesity in the family and my own fight with it, I've been low carb on/off since my first success with Atkins in 1972. I've been low-carb since 2017. This has had little long term effect on neuropathy symptoms - HOWEVER, I generally am less concerned with carbs when on vacation - doesn't mean I satert eating sweets, I not a sweets guy. But I do enjoy an alcohol free beer with lunch, Schnitzel & Pommes or Spätzle - yes I live in a German speaking country. I notice after 3-4 days if I've been "bad", especially if I've been too naughty. Feet scream more than usual.
What has "helped" keep some control over neuropathy pain, is a routine that includes R-Liponic acid, NAC, ALC, GLA, Magnesium and Omega type 3 & 6. I notice it mostly when I forget a dosage and the pain reminds me.
Neuropathy is a moving target and the symptoms I have now are not the same as 2 years ago or 10 years ago. There is therefore no blanket statement that can be made concerning pain control.

I did you them to show other people it help much. you mentioned notice your joints were hurting. That is inflation cause it's sugar/ carbs. I have been of medicine for 7 years. I did what you are doing with the monitor. However I did it with the sugar stick. One hour 2'3'4 after meals n different foods. Now it is much easier for people to monitor and control their diabetes. All the power to you. Please Keep doing AND BIG THank you.

Yeah my late snack if I'm starving is either some sunflower seeds that are not shelled or 2 oz of cheese. Just got my CGM two weeks ago. Walking is the best thing I found to lower my blood sugar. Right after meal if I can. That brings it down better than a shot of insulin. And more quickly.

I appreciate your posts and the information you give. I have heredatory type 2 got a brief period of 49 Hba1c, that with good diet cutting fast burn carbs it's Dow to 44 in 3 months I am aiming for 41 on the next test I am on metformin and changing what I eat has helped me to loose weight. I don't have carbs after breakfast.
Is it expensive to use use the glucose meter.. I tested in the morning and have gone down from
6 9 to 5 it has been hard cutting out so many things cutting out bread potatoes pasta and rice n crisps or sweets I don't drink alcohol and have cut out anything with a high carb count, I tried your advice on adding protein to my breakfast of porridge and berries it has worked well. I am doing the walking and trying to sleep better and luckily don't have a sweet tooth I love chicken fish and meat and have increased my protein to stay fuller. No processed foods cook from scratch added more nuts and pulses don't do low fat but cut quantity of cheese. I look forward to your guide and any more advice to stop spikes.

I read from a number of contributors on this subject, offers me different takes. What I understand is that Type 2 is largely the result of family eating habits from an early stage. For the most part, Type 2 is not a disease but a condition from sugar, vegetable oils and processed foods that are unhealthy to our bodies. Eliminate these products and the Type 2 goes away. Over time, insulin resistance will dissipate.

My husband has had a lot of complications due to diabetes. He almost had to have half his foot amputated, had a pinky toe amputated, triple bypass open heart surgery, lost his vision almost a year ago. Has had 3 surgeries on his eyes. His vision is coming and going in one eye and not returned in the other yet. He also has diabetic retinopathy in hands and feet so bad he has no feeling. His A1C's ran so high off the charts for so long, they couldn't get a reading past 14. His test a couple weeks ago is now at 6.3 A1C. He has been working very hard on what he eats. He has had a Dexcom on his arm for almost a year and it has been a total life changer! I highly recommend a CGM. I am going to recommend your videos to him.

According to Dr. Jason Fung, insulin resistance typically begins decades before sugar levels define you as Type 2. It does beg the question why we do not do insulin tests as we get older to work on diet while there is time on one's side.
Thanks for the items online very helpful. As reference I am 64 and have now been started on insulin. I cannot help but wonder I may have had this over a decade or more. I too like you identify the sweet tooth aspect and have diabetes in my family history. I started with Metformin, then Jardiance but could not handle the side effects (yeast issues). It is my hope that i can wean off insulin with diet, but as long as I have had it, it may be a hard road - several years- if it is actually possible.

Really useful stuff, thanks for all your posts, they are helping! Any advice on neuropathy / nerve damage would be welcome - my diabetes nurse literally just shrugged when I brought it up.

Diabetes runs in my family, and the man that I married is a type 2 diabetic. I thought that I would watch you to find out what I can feed him and what he should not have. Thanks for your help. You are a big help.

Really enjoyed this Q&A. You asked about cereals. There is a Keto (NuTrail) blueberry cinnamon nut granola that we like. Would you consider testing it? Love your shorts that I've seen

I suggest you get a monitor and test it yourself, what happens to him does not mean it will be the same for you.

Good thing to get ahead of it. A good book to read is metabolical by Robert Lustig. It's too bad more doctors don't do that fasting insulin level testing. You are so correct fix it now.

From what I understand alcohol as long as it's not combined with fruit juice and other sweet things lowers blood sugar because the liver prioritizes processing the alcohol and does not cast glucose out into your bloodstream. .
