J. Hud has so much soul for DAYS. Her voice is like velvet, it has such a smooth texture and tone to it. Aretha Franklin made a great choice when she picked her to do her biopic many years ago. I know Jennifer will do a great job portraying the queen of soul!

Jennifer Hudson is a goddess. She's part of my Hercules dream Muse cast because she's is just the powerful and I know she can do that role justice. Here in this video it's shocking to see how powerful she is, but also so lax. This performance looks effortless, yet sounds masterful. I have never actually seen someone step away from the mike before she continue to sing. That feeling that action evokes. Woof! It was possibly the coolest thing I've seen in a live performance. It really just brings on the intimacy. Tara is right how it brings her to the level of the audience. It very much felt like she was honoring and respecting the song before she started to sing. Then how she finished the song away from the mike very much felt like a "this song is beautiful and great by virtue of it's existence and I'm blessed to be chosen to sing it in this instance. So thank you for this opportunity". Masterful. Now, I still say there was one choice she made that I didn't love. She would sing and stop the air in through some parts. I would have loved it if she kept it more ligatto through those sections. But, I still love this performance.
Now, I'm done with that it's request time. But in the last TikTok video Tara mentioned her producers have some power in the episode choice. So, now Tara and the producers, I beseech you to react to Tank and the Bangas Tiny Desk Concert. Please!!!

I'm not gonna get super detailed. I will just say that every performance of Jennifer Hudson's; there's always a moment that stands the hairs on the back of my neck. The first or the hundredth time I see it. When she sang to the audience it sounded as if the holy ghost entered the room to guide her. I was mesmerized. She is amazing. I know she is a professional. And she has every resource and tool at her disposal but that performance was haunting. Ty for the post. I love this channel.

Mahalia Jackson did that same thing at the end of her performance of "We shall overcome". Back in 1971, I believe. The video is here on TH-cam. Just walking away from the mic and still being heard. She was already in the hallway, and still being hurt. The best performance you'll ever see it, check it out.
