Hi John! This piece is stunning! This poem and WB himself have a special place in my heart. Many years ago, while studying at the Yeats' International School in Sligo, I strolled along the edges of Lough Gill and looked across at Innisfree. Softly I spoke the words of of this this poem to myself and enjoyed the precious emotion that swelled in my heart. Then, two wild swans very close to the water's edge, stuck out their necks and snapped at me. At that very same moment, several cows appeared at the top of the hill to my right. Then all eight of them, apparently excited, started racing towards me. I stood between the cows and swans and contemplated a quick sprint, and then a cold plunge into the lake. Suddenly, a border collie crossed in front of the cows, and led them back up the hill! Still, so many years later, my heart skips a beat when I hear those words and I think of that gifted poet. Thanks for your marvelous work.
