They did Adam dirty. The Bible doesn't necessarily portray Adam as a saint, but there's a bit of a problem of making him worse than Lucifer.
    A bit of a problem.

honestly, Lucifer being looked up as funny character was the BIGGEST redflag 💀💀💀

@@wehvxnwee The way I portrayed the Lucifer figure in my story was as this planetary creature who was tired with owning everything he could ever need, so he started destroying things on a cosmic scale and started to find thrill in the chaos which his conquest caused.
He eventually decided his goal should be the complete and utter destruction of everything, what he refers to as "bringing nothing," and he would take pleasure in prophecies he read that talked about specific important stars that would be destroyed during his conquest.
His downfall came when he misinterpreted a prophecy about when the main star that brought light to the universe would be destroyed, and the different parts of his army were all sent to 4 different equivalents of hell.

Ask yourself, if someone was convinced they never did anything wrong, that they earned their place in paradise, over 10.000 years, wouldn't that make them somewhat entitled? That's what Adam represents. He is the other side of the coin of "sinners can become better people" if that is true than winners can become worse people

Hell is NOT portrayed as a better place. I’m guessing you never seen the show. The first song is an ironic bit where all the denizens of hell are lamenting how horrible life is there while you see death and pain and suffering everywhere. Then later when they visit heaven, the song “Welcome to Heaven” is about how amazing it is there. And then the ENTIRE PREMISE is about redeeming sinners so that they can escape awful hell and get to wonderful heaven.

I am a Christian and I also love Hazbin Hotel. I appreciate you sharing your views with me it really makes sense. Not all Christian’s are like this but some Christian’s are judgmental. They will judge you for things such as watching Harry Potter, celebrating Halloween cause it represents witchcraft, dressing immodestly, wearing short shorts, wearing lipstick, make up earrings and tattoos cause it’s worldly and immodest and unclean and satanic to this rigid minded people or you can’t listen to any music that isn’t gospel cause other music is worldy. You cannot be homosexual or LGBTQ cause it’s a sin that will separate you from god and send you to hell! Christian’s can judge you and tell you if you do these things your not a Christian and your not going to heaven. Some Christian’s are more accepting and not all Christian’s believe all of these things are sins. A lot of Christian’s find LGBTQ a sin but not all Christian’s think it’s a sin to watch Harry Potter, wear makeup, listen to pop music and celebrate Halloween. Adam and Lute represent the Christian’s who will harshly judge others for being sinners and seeing them unworthy of redemption cause there ungodly and that they belong to the world and that they are not of god and that they belong to the devil instead. Charlie is not an Angel but her personality is very kind and angelic and Christ like and Emily represents those Christian’s who are kind, accepting and non judgmental and doesn’t discriminate against people for their differences or their flaws.

Madoka Magica does an ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL job doing this, the layers of people struggling to live on and ultimately reaching a point where they could find some peace so long as they didn’t die. Only for the reality of death to be looming right around the corner. But then someone does the unthinkable and bears the burden of everyone past, present, and future upon themselves.

As a Christian I can agree with most of this. I just didn't watch anything after the pilot Ep because I just felt like watching more wasn't something I should do. One thing from the video I can see for sure is that the Bible hit the nail on the head saying in Isaiah 5:20: "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" The writers have been deceived into reversing the roles here. I watch a lot of anime, so I'm pretty used to demons being used as the "good guy underdogs" and the angels or saints or priests being used as the main antagonist, even though about half the time they are referencing religion as a whole and not specifically Biblical demons, angels, priests, and God. This show just felt like a complete jab at Christianity, so I couldn't watch it, but I can understand how people enjoy it, heck, my friend has one of the songs from it on his one and only playlist that has less than 50 songs on it. The animation seems good and enjoyable, but I just couldn't get behind watching it, it just felt wrong.
As for the comparison to trump, I'm kinda confused. He stands mostly for Christian values, and I know he is not perfect, severely flawed even, but so is everyone else. I just don't know how anyone today can be a Christian and still follow the democrat ideal. Trump isn't great, but he's the only thing we've got at the moment to not lose so much more, since eventually if democrats get what they want, we won't have guns, which means that none of our freedoms are guaranteed anymore, anyone will be able to kill an unborn child if they want to with no repercussions even if the child already got a literal heart beat, and Christians will be suppressed more than they already are, there will be no more God in our country, and Gods favor will most definitely leave us, if it hasn't already. Enough of that rant, but anyway, an explanation of how you see this would be nice as well, I always like to hear how others view things.

      @urie9158 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

the trump comparison seemed to be just for secular individuals to have an idea of the severity of the "big bad" figure that Christians perceive Lucifer to be, it didnt seem like it was trying to be a political statement. because whether you support him or not it is undeniable that there has been a very heavy negative association with his image in public trends id say
i would like to encourage you and dissuade some nuisance mindsets that will harm your walk with God, while i'm here :]
      >if democrats get what they want we won't have guns and none of our freedoms will be guaranteed anymore
if we walk in the world, surely this is true. but those who walk with God do not carry the sword to strike an ear off, we carry the sword to pierce the heart of evil. and our sword is the Truth as offered by the gracious God through Jesus and the Holy Spirit. in God we will excel, for victory was already claimed by the Lord. fear not the removal of weaponry but the destruction of the truth; spread and persevere the truth with all your might. or as it is written; And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28 KJV)
not to say that we should not be diligent to protect what we have been given to tend, surely it must be so. but you should not do this with the fear of failure, you should do this with full confidence in your faith of God's victory. for if God stands with you, who can stand against you?
it isn't us who judge or lay the ultimate repercussions; it is God who does. our job is similar, to prevent those evils from manifesting death where we can reach (aka, do what is possible), but God knows that we are only so capable and has planned His intercessions accordingly since the beginning.
take heart. Jesus already won for us :]

3:37 i agree with these points and I don’t like that we mostly see bad angels in the show but I just want to point out that a lot of the citizens in heaven don’t know about the extermination, because they know that they wouldn’t like it. With the reveal in the trial and Sir Pentious being redeemed i wouldent be surprised if heaven finds out what is happening and also supports Charlie wanting the hotel to work. Also possible spoilers: we do see Angel dust’s twin sister in welcome to heaven (pink spider winner) so maybe we will see her in season two fighting for her bother and the other residence of the hotel

Great video! I watched a little bit of some other Christian reviewers, and they really need to take into account that this is NOT a kids' show.
I'm Catholic and, funnily, attending the same school where Vivienne Medrano (creator of Hazbin Hotel) graduated from. I have many classmates who experienced religious trauma in their life and make art based off of it. While some are just straight up disrespectful, others make beautiful works that come deep from the heart and express such painful sorrow.
Art is tricky because while it is an expression and outlet for strong emotions, it is also very compelling, and can easily give a wrong impression. That being said, I like how you viewed the show in this light.
Let's continue our Christian journeys of being understanding and charitable, but still sticking to the truth we all know. And that way more people can learn about our faith and the true loving God.
P.S. I KNEW the music sounded familiar! Pikmin and Nintendogs. Great choices.

It feels nice to know that someones able to articulate my complicated feelings about things like this. Theres so much pressure in the world to like certain things and hate certain things based solely on what political or social aims the creators have in making it...
I mean, I like a lot of things the show is *trying* to do, but their ignorance of how similar they are to things they obviously didnt think about or actively opposed them, but theres an enourmous and intangible pressure to just like it blindly without critical thought. Without that pressure I could apprecite the art for what it is.

Charlie is literally Christian (unless it was stated otherwise in the show and i forgot) she was reading the bible and encouraging people to do what the bible says and things that are actually very Christian-like, makes sense since shes technically an angel herself, her dad was anyways. Another thing is that the show tells you in your face that it's not 100% bible accurate and takes creative liberties like how Lucifer fell was slightly different ftom what happened in the bible. And yes of course this show is obviously made from a more gnostic and atheist perspective rather then a christian perspective, but that's not necessarily mean or rude, the fact that other people view things differently from Christians is literally true, it's reality, and it's normal, not everyone can agree to everything, and i think this show was actually really needed for non-christians. I also like that this show tackles corruption really well, and also how it shows us that not everyone that sins is a bad person, and that there are people that are technically righteous that are bad people, other then the obvious a person that sins happens to also be bad and a person that is rightous happerns to also be good, since real-life is way more neuanced then that. Idk Christians seem to love to jump to wierd conclusions about anything that remotely challenges christian beliefs and get offended and disgusted by anything that doesn't need it.

    • @urie9158
      @urie9158 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

i really enjoyed Hazbin and i don't personally remember any reference that Charlie read the Bible or was specifically known to be a Christian, but i can definitely see that as a plausible demonstration... assuming that part of reality is translated (which i doubt it will be considering the creative liberty that was taken in most areas to set the story)
the only thing you said that offended me was the last part. "Christians seem to love to jump to weird conclusions about anything that remotely challenges christian beliefs and get offended and disgusted by anything that doesn't need it."
i suppose some would be offended by this show or similar artistic depictions, but personally i just find myself uncomfortable. it is disgusting when it becomes gratuitous satanic imagery for the sake of gratuitous satanic imagery or comparably gross things. in Hazbin i saw no issue with the satanically inspired imagery in hell because... it's hell lol, it is supposed to feel evil/sorcery/magicky/voodoo. but yes things like that do tend to err on the side of things that make believers uncomfortable. i believe that God has revealed many truths to me, a key one of which is who His adversary and by extension my adversary is; the Accuser, the literal translation of the word "satan" (wasn't originally a name). the show depicts him as the misunderstood wacky father, which at least in my mind is fine in the context of the show, but is also justifiably something that makes me uncomfortable and probably other people who share my worldview. that's not what we know him to be, and from our perspective a depiction of him that lessens the severity of who and what he is can very easily be seen as very disrespectful.
if we are right, being offended could be easily considered a waste of time still but disgusted or (most commonly in reality) uncomfortable? nah. that's very reasonable.
even so i can see you have no conscious intention to offend anyone, and i by no means intend to accuse you of that. i just hope that without closing off or mocking it will be possible for others to understand why these depictions can be upsetting, and to prepare yourselves for collected conversation that helps to open my fellow believers' minds to the positives that you guys see in the show.
      Jesus loves you

It is a sad fact of humanity that the loudest voices are the ones that are most hurtful and the most motivated to do harm.
And you're right that many non-theists go too far in response. Though non-theists are almost always not violent and don't push for laws that harm their political opponents.
For myself, I haven't believed in God since before I was 10, and I don't even remember when I stopped believing. I think it might have something to do with reading a lot of Greek mythology and knowing it wasn't real.
But it doesn't mean I'll disrespect or dislike you or anyone of any religion. As long as that individual's actions respect my humanity and individual choices and beliefs.
To all who seek to live their best life without harming or belittling anyone for any reason other than actual harm that person has done, I wish you the best that I can, and may you find peace and happiness in life.

i must disagree with the notion that "non-theists are almost always not violent and don't push for laws that harm their political opponents", from my perspective politics is the secular variant of religion and it is primarily characterized by these kinds of behaviors in modern day. i do believe that MOST non-theists are not violent people, because i believe that the good that God instilled in all of us is mightier than the wicked influences of the world; plus my anecdotal experience attests to that truth, as most people i have met by and large across both lines are not violent people.
evil itself is indeed just very loud, as you yourself said. it has to be or you wouldn't pay attention right? and evil dwells within all, something that the vast majority of worldviews agree on especially Christianity
(Romans 3:23 KJV) "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
one who has been taught the right dividing of the Word of God will attest that the manifold message of God is often to love the sinner and hate the sin, and to forgive others as we have been forgiven. there are surely instances where we fail to do this, as we are no more perfect than our fellow man, but this should be one of the core aspects of a Christian's faith. i pray that none will have an encounter with one that commits evil under the name of God, for this is extremely harmful to all parties, but as many of you have attested this is a commonality for many nonbelievers. i hope it will not close off minds to potential truths, because God has a great plan for you and Jesus gave Himself to purchase you back out of the jaws of death in His deep love for you :]
may you all have an absolutely wonderful day. much love, and may God be with you

I was a fan of Hazbin Hotel ngl, but the way they disrespected every biblical character was a huge turn-off to me. Adam was never hinted to be an a**hole, in fact it was even speculated that he joined Eve in sin because he loved her so much and made the stupid choice of eating the fruit with her, just so she won't be alone outside of Eden.
St. Peter is not a soft twink. He was in fact the most outspoken of Jesus' followers and carried a sword that he used to cut a Roman soldier's ear. He was also not afraid to die on a cross for his beliefs.
Lucifer himself has also been butchered in HH. He did not rebel against the Father to give humanity free will, his motive for rebellion is to sit on the Throne of Heaven and overthrow the Father. I do not see the greatest angel who said the 7 "I Am"s to be a wimpy duck-loving goof.
Also the fact that the behavior of the angels in Heaven is almost the same as the fallen angels we have seen already disappointed me.
I liked the fanfic comic videos of Hazbin Hotel that I've seen here in TH-cam a lot more than what the real show gave us.

I’m not a Christian, I was raised to believe in God and Jesus and to follow what is good, but I don’t subscribe myself to any religion. Hazbin Hotel at its core has a sweet premise, it’s about changing your sinful ways and turning to goodnes and the show doesn’t depict God or Jesus in anyway so that it is not seen as disrespectful. It’s merely just inspired by the bible and Dante’s inferno. If you find that your faith is being challenged by a little musical cartoon about demons trying to be better people then I can’t relate🤷🏽‍♀️ I don’t actually believe demons can be redeemed but it’s an interesting premise and I adore musicals and animation, so that’s the main reason I watch this show

All Biblical and Religious references and ideas, which I was able to find in the first season of the series:
    1) In fact, the whole plot of the extermination is very similar to the plot of the Book of Exodus, where Pharaoh ordered the slaughter of the children of the Hebrews in order to reduce their number and avoid rebellion. A similar story is present in the New Testament with King Herod, who ordered the capture of little boys in order to find the King of Kings among them in order to get rid of him and preserve his power and throne. Sera essentially resembles Herod and Pharaoh of the Exodus, then Paradise can be considered as Egypt and Judea. And Sinners as Jews, abandoned by God for 400 years of oppression under the rule of a foreign country. Funnily enough, but in the song Hell is forever, Adam drops the phrase "An eye for an eye", which is just present in the Book of Exodus. It says, "If a man hits his male or FEMALE slave in the eye, and the eye is blinded, he must let the slave go to compensate for the eye" as Adam and Lute did to Vaggie, cut out her wings, her EYE and threw her away, releasing her from service. Just as Sir Pentious enters Heaven and becomes an Angel Cobra, when he renounced his sins and redeemed, this can be seen as a reference to how the serpent created by God devoured the serpents created by the Egyptian priests. And this is added by the theory that God himself carried Pentius directly to Heaven and near Sera and Emily.
    2) If we assume that Jesus existed in this universe, this can be understood by St. Peter, one of his Apostles and disciples, then Charlie continues his work, so to speak, but if Jesus worked exclusively with living people, then Charlie is trying to atone and make the Sinners in Hell believe. And in fact, she also has apostles, Vaggie herself, AngelDust, Alastor, Husk, Sir Pentious, Niffty and Cherry Bomb. Lucifer then can be considered as a Joseph and Lilith as a Virgin Mary, because I love to theorize that she after eating a fruit from the Tree of Knowledge become the bearer of the true pure power of good, which was partially passed on to her daughter. And if we take into account the fact that she is formally the granddaughter of God, if one still exists in the universe of this series, then he would not only be glad that such a glimpse appeared in Hell, but it is also possible that he himself contributed to her being born and helped the souls of the dead to be cleansed of sins. And just like Jesus in his ideas, Charlie also has enemies and opponents, Adam and the Exterminators themselves can be seen as Pharisees, who are kind of priests and servants of the Lord, but who are not clean, corrupt and who wanted to kill the righteous man, Jesus himself, seeing in him a threat to their power and influence. Sera can then be seen as Pontius Pilate, who conducts a trial and pronounces a sentence on the further fate of the righteous man. Emily can be considered as Mary Magdalene. And Heaven can be interpreted as the Roman Empire. And if we talk about who will become the new Judas Iscariot, then it will definitely be Alastor, who will betray Charlie and her ideas, but then, perhaps, either sacrifice himself or destroy himself, just as Judas himself, realizing what he did and that he was guilty, committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree. Even the way the Angels, and in particular the Lute, condemn Sinners and at the same time not noticing their own vices or thinking they are right, this is a living illustration of the wisdom of Jesus: "Judge not, lest you be judged."
    3) Also, the plot and characters is relatively similar to the Book of Esther, with the plot of how a female ruler from the people who are under the rule of a powerful kingdom, saves her people from destruction and extermination. Charlie and Emily herself - Queen Esther. Sinners - Jews. Angels - Persians. Sera and Lucifer - King Ahasuerus. Lilith - Queen Vashti. Adam - Haman the Agagite. Lucifer and Vaggie - Mordecai. And just as Ahasuerus is unable to revoke the order to exterminate the Jews, so he issues a new order that the latter may be resisted, and this entails battles and celebrations. The same is true in the season finale. Sinners and Cannibals, along with Charlie, Vaggie and Lucifer, give battle to the Exorcists and win not without losses, and then celebrate.
    4) And finally, the very way Charlie tries to guide Sinners to the true and righteous path, this is what many famous prophets of God did, in fact, Moses, Jonah and Elijah. And yes, Heaven can be considered as a monotheistic state, and Hell and demons as a pagan idolatrous people. As the Europeans, English, or Spaniards actually treated the native population of America, hating them largely simply for their different faith and for the color of their skin. Or just as the Ottoman Empire took tribute from conquered lands, so Heaven essentially takes tribute from Hell by murdering Sinners.

Adam in this show is God’s parable for his son, Jesus Christ.
His blood the only way to heaven, so he mocks Charlie because her hotel of works are nothing but filthy rags to him. That’s why he wrote the commandments instead of her.
His divinity is unknowningly alluded to in the story (the original seed holder title alludes to him existing before his birth and the angels, he can destroy the soul and body in hell, he is the groombride, he is a figure of worship) because the writers are merely puppets of God for him to glorify his only begotten son. The sinless son that is meant to be worshipped and obeyed.
That’s why Lucifer hates him so much.

@@stubbwinkley4015 So I haven’t watched this show in awhile, ever since I got saved I just dumped everything demonic out the door as I did lots of witchcraft and talking with demons before I got saved by Jesus but basically I do remember that this show had a ton of sexual references (I believe this one demon called angeldust idk) was always doing sexual things. And then there’s a ton of cussing, just a lot of culture promoted in the show is not promoted for people to turn to Jesus Christ’s love and be saved by Him, which is what Christianity is all about, it’s a secular parody show that promotes the opposite with all the cussing and sexual stuff again. Also… hell is not a party like the show is and we probably know that but we should actually think of what he’ll actually is, which is separate from God’s love, and tortured and alone.. I don’t really encourage anyone who’s following Jesus to watch it cause it can really influence our attitudes. Much love to you though 🙏

I'm a Roman Catholic woman, and I see it as "It depends on what you get out of it." I saw the series, and the main things I got out of it was "Don't judge a book by its cover, because you don't know what's inside and you don't know what the other person is going through." Another thing that I got out of it is that life is way too short to be ugly to people. In the case of Adam, I just thought "What an ogre." But I do hope he gets a redemption arc and learns from his mistake. Now, Vivienne Medrano is a Roman Catholic herself, and she created the series as a way to share that feeling and because lots of people feel that way too; you don't know how many times I've beat myself up for accidentally eating meat on Good Friday, and I still do sometimes do it. Over time, I realized that it's not about being perfect. God loves all His children equally and unconditionally from the inside out. The last things I got out of it were that forgiving someone doesn't mean that you think that what they did was acceptable and when we lead with love, everyone wins. Life is way too short to be nasty to each other. It's all what you get out of it.

As someone who grew up christian (but left the church). I can relate to a lot of your points. I also think that this show doesn´t try to depict a heaven or a hell in a theologically accurate way. When I watched "Inside of every demon is a rainbow" many years ago, my first association was that this show is more about things like prisons and intense discrimination with othering of the discriminated. And I saw Charlies redemption vs Adams punishment more as stand ins for a rehabilitation approach vs a punishment approach, with Heaven vs Hell being a convenient aesthetic for it that many people know, which is reinforced due to negative experiences that many people have had with some of the loudest people who claim to be christians, as you pointed out.
I can understand that this show made you feel uncomfortable and I am sorry you had to go through this. I really liked your take on this show. :)

Hey you gave me a new perspective on that show. I haven’t watched it because I saw a few shorts about some pretty horrible things it says, like redeeming Satan as a punished dreamer and whatnot. But it is good to open one’s mind to things they might not like or understand, kind of like the many non-believers must’ve done back when Jesus was around. Thanks for your take on the show, i still don’t think i will watch it because i don’t feel comfortable watching a show that apparently might try to redeem the devil at times, but i will not be so judgemental and be more open to what people who watched it have to say, after all that could be what God wants us to do, open our hearts and senses to all our brothers and sisters regardless of anything.

The angels that you talked about are what I think are supposed to symbolize not all Christians, but just the Christians in power like priests except more like governors in their realm I find it to be quite accurate to most of the priests and stuff I’ve met. Christianity was heavily capitalized on to gain power, and that’s exactly what the higher ranks of heaven are doing I’m hoping in season two that there’s like a secret organization of angels that are against how the higher ups are killing sinners, because I know a lot of Christians that disagree with how churches are run and stuff and don’t exactly agree with the concept of hell and stuff, I think that would be really cool if this is written from the perspective of Christians running heaven

The story was made from a young vivzie from when she was about ten. I don’t understand why people feel so strongly about this show is you feel like it’s not for you. If you don’t like it, you don’t like it. If you do, you do. Showing the bad parts of Christianity is the point. It’s showing that people are shit. Everyone is a little shitty. That’s the point of life. It’s showing life. I have religious beliefs, not yours, but beliefs. I wouldn’t be mad if someone did this with mine. I would expect it. Yeah it's almost like the show's trying to make a point
About so many peope who claim to be christian and yet
Spit on Christ's teachings in practice (adam)
Hold people to mistakes and never forgive them, depsite preaching forgiveness (lute)
Who claims to uphold the ideals of their faith but then makes excuses for why it is necceasry to violate or side against those ideals when required (Sera)
I wodner why that has relevance in a country where a literal wannbe fascist is supprted almost entirley by religious christians
As religious based chrisitian conservstives country wide oppress and target Minorities, immigrants Gays and trans people
While also enacting draconian laws forcing women to have zero body autonomy and to be forced broodmares for the state agaisnt their will
As they also try and ban contraceptives and access to healthcare
I wonder what the show is trying to highlight as hypocritical?

But when Helluva Boss became a thing and had such bad taste and characters that I could not sympathize with, I refrained from watching Hazbin Hotel and seeing how it displayed Christianity as being a misogynistic religion that needs to be fixed for “modernity” purposes made me not want to watch it and fear that it would only further polarize the divide between sinners and believers.

I do agree that generalizing christians based on these stereotypes is wrong because one should realize that christians are human like everyone else which means of course they will have personal problems just look at my life. Therefore some christians may have these traits but many don't. Rejecting and disliking christianity because of bad experience is not really excusable since one should realize that they shouldn't generalize but yes of course we should give empathy to the person.

I like to think that the reason that the demons in the show are technically the good guys could be in reference to how humans, like how the demons are addressed as, are sinners. Note how there were several times the demons in hell were referred to as sinners, just like us :) The church is meant to be a place where the most demonized, hated, and devious people are meant to go for redemption. The church, in the end, is a place ran by sinners just like the show. In the end, I don't think the show choosing to not make the sinners the antagonists is meant to convey the message that "Satanism good Church bad" but instead it is a commentary about how many who go to church and isn't seen as "perfect" is often demonized.
