I used to believe in the bible and all that stuff. I realized the creation and flood stories were disproved by science thus making the whole bible false. What started me in my deconversion is the death of my mother, which didn't convert to Jesus and probably ended in hell. Or so I thought. So I checked the basis of my faith. Maybe, one of her argument made it through to me. Human parents won't ever punish eternally their own children if they disobey. Why not god do the same? Even some denominations came up with doctrines to try to make it more reasonable. But then, it may somewhat conflits with the Jesus salvation. The claims of divine origins are just way to prevent embarrassing questions.

Hi everyone, I just want to share a couple Bible verses that help me navigate this topic, I hope they help you as they help me! Matthew :24-25 says that we must deny ourselves and take up our crosses meaning we have to reject our desires and do God’s will for us, meaning sacrifice. Mind you this is NOT at all easy it is a daily struggle. Jesus is literally telling us that following Him means that we are willing to die for Him. That is what the cross means because Jesus speaks in metaphors. But why? Because Galatians 5:17 says the flesh desires what is contrary to the spirit and the spirit desires what is contrary to the flesh. Something scary but important to remember is that if something is against the Holy Spirit than it isn’t from God, it’s from the enemy. Who is at your door, He works for your downfall hence why he opposes those who follow the Lord because he is scared that you won’t believe the lies he tells you. But why are our fleshly desires bad? Because they lead towards destruction. For example temptation, in the first example of sin, Eve fell into sin and it create a cascade of destruction. God commanded Adam and Eve not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil because He loves them and cares for them. But the reason He put the tree is because He acknowledges their free will and not putting there doesn’t give them the gift choice. Ok sorry I went off on a tangent there. But my last point about why I believe homosexuality is a sin other than that the Bible says it in many places like Leviticus, Corinthians, Romans etc, is because if God never said it was okay than it isn’t. In Genesis He created male and female. Biologically it isn’t possible any other way. What I want you to get from this if you read it, is that… 1. Jesus loves you so so so much that you can’t even comprehend it. Because He died for you and you don’t ever have to walk in shame for your sins because you are renewed 2. Because He loves you so much, He acts that you follow Him not just because He wants you do it out of your love for Him but also because he cares for you and knows His plan for you is the best plan because He has your best interests at heart ❕Something I want all of you to know is that if you don’t understand the Bible or a passage it’s because you can’t just pick up a passage without historical context (when was it written + who was it written to) and expect to understand it. Also coming to the text with your own ideas is deductive and only closes your mind to possible ideas, instead come to the text with and inductive mindset which allows the text to speak for itself. I say this so if you struggle to read the Bible, it’s totally okay beucase it is difficult! Go through these steps to make ir easier on yourself Observation- What do you see, hear, notice etc? Interpretation- Why based questions and try to answer them Application- What lesson or idea will you try to your life with what you have learned? 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says the Bible is God breathed meaning inspired by God meaning it’s lessons capture God’s character and true love and power because He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. As someone who grew up christian (but left the church). I can relate to a lot of your points. I also think that this show doesn´t try to depict a heaven or a hell in a theologically accurate way. When I watched "Inside of every demon is a rainbow" many years ago, my first association was that this show is more about things like prisons and intense discrimination with othering of the discriminated. And I saw Charlies redemption vs Adams punishment more as stand ins for a rehabilitation approach vs a punishment approach, with Heaven vs Hell being a convenient aesthetic for it that many people know, which is reinforced due to negative experiences that many people have had with some of the loudest people who claim to be christians, as you pointed out. I can understand that this show made you feel uncomfortable and I am sorry you had to go through this. I really liked your take on this show. :)

I have a few questions, right now I’m curious about a lot of the things i consume on the internet like shows and games, what’s your stance on things like marvel, dc and anime and stuff? I saw something that was pretty compelling and it’s that you shouldn’t give these super heroes glory and only god the glory, like is it wrong to even consider these people heroes? Like if spider man saves a civilian from getting hit by a car and i were to call him a hero, would that be wrong? I always thought it was fine because it teaches you to be good and do good things and doesn’t glorify evil, but idk.

The thing is, I often have the impression that many Christians don't speak out of love, but out of envy, and then use such words to try and make those they envy and who don't share their values and beliefs feel bad. An example would be anyone who appears happy and content but is not a Christian. In that case, a Christian could, out of sheer envy and jealousy, not love (even though they may be convinced they're doing it out of love), start telling that person how only Jesus can save them from the eternal fire of hell and, in doing so, subconsciously (or consciously) try to make that person feel bad. I am not religious, nor am I an atheist, but I am still okay with my life and I am not depressed. For example, studying philosophy (primarily Spinoza, but also Schopenhauer and others) and critically thinking about what I read has contributed much more to the improvement of both my mental and physical health than blindly following any religion. I’m not saying that religiosity cannot be beneficial for an individual, I’m just saying that it didn’t provide me with satisfying answers and didn’t help me better understand myself and the world around me, while, on the other hand, philosophy, even evolutionary psychology, and also science, have certainly helped me in that regard. I want to emphasize that I don’t hate Christians, I just sometimes find them annoying when they impose their values on me. And since I’m from Serbia, where most people identify as Christians, specifically Orthodox Christians, and where the church constantly tries to interfere in secular life, I suppose that’s why I have some negative prejudices. All in all, as John Lennon would say, "Whatever gets you thru the night." I love your art btw :)

Everyone has a viewpoint. Everyone has a desire to proclaim something, the Christian message helps and saves lives. I believe that if it is productive and helpful and life changing we should share it. There are no faults with Jesus, literally. I believe in the promises which edify the soul and connect us to our spirit. The bible does that.

Thats not true, yes it is written that we are saved by faith, but this does not mean that works are unimportant. In fact, the Bible teaches that while our salvation is a gift from God, good works are a natural result of that salvation. After Ephesians 2:8-9, verse 10 continues: "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." This means that while our good works do not save us, they are evidence of our faith and transformation in Christ. James 2:17 emphasizes this point by stating, *"Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." * We are saved by grace through faith alone; however, genuine faith will produce good works as a reflection of our relationship with Christ and an outpouring of His love to those around us.
