As a Beijing local for 400+years , my great grandparents have never showed us what is the village like in China until We went back to Shandong province where my ancestors lived in 2002, the villagers were so kind and treated us as Family, and took out all of their good food and gifts to us and they put several boxes of organic fruits into my car when we left. Such a wonderful experience in my life !
I was born and raised in a small village in China. people they just know each other, so nice, very simple and easy life style. now everything there is changed, people move out, took down hundred years old buildings. it kinda make me sad sometimes, but think village people life getting better, more convenient, clean, maybe the changes is good, I don’t know, let the time to prove it. thank you for your video , especially the Chinese opera scene, let me miss my grand parents. thank you, and happy new year!
I love that you show real China to the folks who watch YT. They are very inspiring. I’ve been to China (Shanghai) ten times for a total of ten months since 2009, am married to a Shanghainese woman, and can relate! And Happy New Year from Colorado!
Matt, It's great to see how you are so welcome in their home and family, and how you are genuinely interested in learning and appreciating the traditional village life in China. This video serves as an evidence how significantly lives have improved in China over the past 20 years. Their government has done something right to lift hundreds of million of people out of poverty. It is heart warming to watch your videos during the time when the tension between the two countries have heightened to a level never seen before. Our media needs to learn from your videos to spread understanding instead of spreading animosity like they often do. Great job Matt. God bless you.
For most of the time in human history, China has always been one of the most wealthy and prosperous countries in the world. The government screwed the country up in the past, now we are just getting close to what is normal for China.
Matt, I told my wife that you are the "almost only one" of TH-camrs always has smiley face who living in China. Happy Every Day! Your smile cheer up others !!!
My grandfather is also from a small village near Ningbo, around the Dongqian Lake. This November I took a few days trip there, riding bicycle around the lake. I also took another one in the Siming Mountains. It feels very refreshing, especially when I am thinking how my grandfather's life would be in his childhood and what a way it is for him moving from Ningbo to Shanghai. Wish all the best and wish your family a good 2019! Cheers.
Nihao Matt...……. and a Happy New Year to you. Sometimes memories is all we have when miss someone or something. When I was living in Nanning my girlfriend took me to a village to visit her grandparents...……….. Matt, it was so wonderful to see and feel the love of the people. I was a stranger to them but they treated me like family. The whole village came out and made my girlfriend and I feel at home. Thank you, Matt for the video, it also brought back memories of my childhood when we did not have -- cell-phone, internet, I-Pod ect………….. we just had regular conversation with each other. Family and friends had love, respect and responsibility for each other. We were poor Matt but we didn't even know it. We were all there to help out when one of our neighbor was down. Matt, where did we lose all that? Anyway, my friend ( I hope I can call you a friend) Happy New Year and may 2019 bring you Good Fortune, Good Health, More videos on You Tube …………………………….. Joey
I visited my grandfather's village and old home in fujian; quite similar to this, it is also basically the village where mostly the people with the same surname with my grandfather.
No anti-American sentiment at all ! This is a grass-root Chinese feeling for Americans. For all the simplicities, folks are living well here. Thanks for this nice video.
Hey Matt. I got to say this was pretty cool to watch. I get to see a lot of rural china with your videos which is pretty cool to get a glimpse of life in the small towns compared to here where I live.
Oh my word Matt sick video, it had everything. 10/10! I must commend you on your editing and shooting skills. Managing to get this video together and uploaded all in one day. Well done
Great video. Your videos lately has been bring back so many childhood memories for me. All those little villages you visited, very similar to the one I grew up in. Remembering the times when the only electronic in the house was a light bulb. Life was simple back then.
Matt, I love you videos and I am your subscriber. I can see you are a good family man with a good heart and you are sincerely telling the truth about China even with constructive critics, but not mocking or making fun of it unlike Serpentza and Laowhy86. Keep up the great work! Happy New Year to you and your family.
Love seeing the Chinese culture and its own diversity! That bed. I have slept on webbed beds in India that were so hard! LoL I wondered how they did it all their lives. Wow! And, I admit I looked forward to my posturepedic at home ;-) Blessings.
Cool. Still pretty happy community atmosphere which had to find in modern city or in the west. Though I am more of the claustrophobic, but impress me how close knit the community.
8:06 I still have this kind of bed, and I really like it, because I've spent most of my life sleeping on it, and I'm still not used to sleep on a spring mattress , as same as my parents.
Great video Matt. Relating to a recent post you made asking for feedback....Ive been watching for nearly 2 years now. I think i can make a good judgement. I believe your problem is that to grow each channel and interest you should focus on them all, a thing that isn't possible. The reef channel for the reefers, the bike channel for the bikers, the travel channel for the travel fans....etc. However if its a video like this, or one with the family, or one on the road, all excellent because i have bought into you. I think it will be a niche market as long as that will be the case. I have drawn great inspiration from you as i moved to China to begin a new life, in the format you use now. Final thought; Why are the videos to blame? 43k subs 4k average a video, Maybe its the marketing because you are awesome. (PS. More food stuff.....wheere is your burgers of the world videos haha)
Families in this place are well-to-go, they even have a Chevy there. Imagine you sing " Bye, bye Miss American Pie ,Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry.And them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye. Singin' this'll be the day that I die" but the background is a Chinese countryside...
There are a lot of dialects but they all trace their roots to one or two of the 8 major groups (or a mixture of where their geographic locations borders).
Chris Gomez no, the government didn’t just give my dad a factory , in early 80s’ ppl start allowed to own their private business, before all belong to the government.
Yeah, during Sung Dynasty, after the Emperor fled to Hangzhou, along with hundreds of thousands refugees from the north, more land was needed in order to feed the fast growing population.
Great video...really a genuine happiness to it..can’t stand anyone messing with that...I laughed out loud American’s say “”Don’t sh@t where you eat”...Chinese get all annoyed “Damn Americans figured that out!”...and “Back then...”...you mean the ‘70’s...I was a boy in the USA...things weren’t that much different ....still being a conmorant Fisher is absolutely fascinating to me...that’s really cool...Made my day with this vid....Thanks, Matt!

Industrialized make people live better, but also make people more selfish and individualized.

Shaobo Lei Qing Dynasty led to the worst situation.
@@weizhang2834 Overall, Qing Dynasty actually did more for China than what can be blamed on that dynasty.. .
