Does the history of Prince Andrew's life change your views about him?
It's not really surprising how Andrew and Charles turn out. It's just tells me the Queen although admired by a lot of people but also a bad mother at the same time.
Not up to me to judge.
Charles was raised by nannies. When Andrew was born 12 years later the queen was more hands on. Andrew grew up as "the favorite son", the best looking one and a helicopter pilot in a war zone earning him the title war hero. That combined (along with being a prince) to give him a feeling of entitlement that was truly massive. It grew over time along with his ego and his waistline. Bottom line: A jerk is a jerk, be it a prince or commoner.
Nope. He is in control of his behavior. He made his bed... Now he has to deal with the consequences of his disgusting behavior.

Thing is the Queen has to distance herself from him because it's become public knowledge. Had it been known only to the royal family, they would have covered it up.

The basis of most of Andrew's "friendships" with people were whether they could provide him and his ex wife with money. He went to see Epstein in NY City - when they were famously photographed - because she was hugely in debt, again, and he was trying to get Epstein to bail them out. Remember this was the same period when Sarah Ferguson was caught by a News of the World reporter selling favours for $500,000. She said that if she was paid that amount, she would introduce the person to Andrew and Andrew would see to it that some deal would be done that the person wanted. They were both in on it.
They were millions of pounds in debt around 2010/2011, yet went and purchased a huge ski "chalet" for 17 million pounds about 3 years later. Which they also didn't have money to pay for. They continued to stiff the person they'd bought it from, never giving her all the money, and being angry that she expected them to. The press were told that the Queen stepped in to pay for it. But now it is being said that she didn't. However, they are selling it, because of his legal debts (and other debts), but it had a 13million mortgage, so they'll not pocket 17m.
They just assumed that they shouldn't have to pay, that one of their rich dictators' sons pals would bail them out, as usual.
As Harry said, money is the thing that obsesses all the royals. For Andrew and Sarah it was particularly so because they, and their daughters, lived lives of constant expensive holidays, skiing, yatching, travelling etc. They clearly felt it was their "right", even if they earned no money to pay for it. Andrew famously would take a helicopter to fly to a golf course - one he could easily have driven to - for which UK tax payers had to pay 5000 pounds. He got really stroppy if anyone suggested this was ill advised.
He is notoriously rude, vulgar, bad tempered, egotistical, and stupid. The idea of his being a business ambassador for the UK was worse than laughable. Not only did he know nothing about business, he couldn't even manage his own affairs. He wanted that role so he could meet rich people and use their boats and planes etc.
In one job I had a couple of decades ago I had to be involved in visits from politicians and royals to various premises and operations of the company I was working for. These were always a waste of time, but nothing was dreaded more than a royal visit. They were pointless and ridiculous, but nothing was dreaded more than an Andrew visit. He was a rude, boorish, whining, idiot, who snarled at everyone about everything, and knew nothing at all about any aspect of commerce, economics, technology, industry, finance etc..It was all ego stroking for him - which required putting everyone around him down.. His protection squad particularly detested him.
Why someone has to be expert on every aspect of things. To know everything like Mr. Know-all, because there have been people who have done these jobs, that is their work. This comment is so presimistic.

Age for one does not play a role here, as in the UK what he did, if it was not forced, was totally legal. If it happened at all that is. So no, he is not above the law of his country. I don't know. Back in the mid 80's, when he married Sarah Ferguson, he seemed so likable and fun loving. Maybe that was just her rubbing off on him. ("Phrasing" I know!) Now....... he just seems to ooze arrogance. I can't really say I'm glad this happened to him, because I don't wish this situation on anyone (including Virginia), but I can't say I'm surprised. I still think there was more to Charles' "friendship" with Jimmy Savile that the palace swooped in and cleaned up super quick. Of course they had to, Charles is next in line for the throne. Couldn't have a scandal of that magnitude that close to the throne. Guess Randy Andy just wasn't that lucky. I guess the palace either couldn't or wouldn't go far enough to erase this scandal from existence.

Lelana Lela: I understand your viewpoint but I reside in the States and since he has refused to give any kind of a statement to the FBI after repeatedly saying he would cooperate my outlook is somewhat colored. Also the photos of him walking through Central Park with Epstein after he was convicted as a pedophile and staying in his New York townhouse at that time tend to undermine his credibility. I think the fact that The Queen wasn't around for much of Charles/Ann's childhood is the reason why she's so openly affectionate toward her grandchildren/great grandchildren now because at the time of Andrew/Edward's childhoods, Royals were expected to not show emotion or anything.

I noticed she shows more affection and love to her dogs and horses.
She just seems cold to the children until Andrew.
I watched a cpl videos that showed the children barely recognized her, and she never even hugs them or kissed them after not seeing them for months while being on tour.
U can see she force's attention one time while sitting on a blanket, and setting-up the press to take pics.
It was just very COLD & DISTANT.

Since Medieval Times members of The Royal Family had the right to 'Droit du Seigneur.' This gave the Lord of the Manor.........or Duke or Prince...... the right to free sex, fun and debauchery with any peasant, serf or village yokel they chose. Everyday I am more and more disgusted by ‘Dandy Andy’. How could his ruthless antics have gone on for so long? If you look back on Andrew's life, you can see that he was well thought of and loved by the public and his parents. He did serve in the Navy and saw combat. He was devoted to the Queen and was admirable in many ways. The press called him Randy Andy but the fact is the British women were crazy for Andrew and mobbed him in public. The press also called him 'Sex on 6 feet'. He seemed to have a healthy sex life, not a pervy one. Then things began to change, and it didn't seem like anyone was paying as much attention.
