Personally this wasn’t my issue. But for those where this trick doesn’t work, I reset my surge protector by turning it on and off and then it was back to normal (make sure to completely power off your ps5 first though).

a fix is in safe mode select hdcp 1.4 - i did to fix my issues, i checked tonight and that sony update this september fixed so far. I returned hdcp to automatic and its fine thus far.
I tried changing the resolution, hdmi to 1.4 or 2.4 or whatever it is. Then tried changing the resolution to my tv. I tried everything nothing helps. I was told it’s because my tv doesn’t support the output the ps5 has.
I scrolled a good amount of comments to see if anyone asked what does this do and why? What is happenting to my PS5 is that it randomly goes black for a few seconds during gaming and resumes the video output. It's cost me multiplayer competitions and I have to pause campaign games to not miss the story.
my issue was only with some games doing this not all. deep rock and one other was giving me black screen. what i found was my tv is not a 120hz and the ps is supposed to detect that and not try and run in that output but some games were trying to force it into 120hz so i changed my setting on the 120 "when its supported" to always off and this fixed my problem.

I have the same issue. PS5 crashed during Far Cry, then didn‘t continue on the repair memory. So I restarted it. Nothing helped so I factory resetted it. It worked. But after another restart or shut down the issue in the video happens. Nothing else helps…wtf
Follow up: after talking to the Playstation Support, they told me I should remove the external SSD, and factory reset my PS in safe mode (menu point 7). I did, and it worked, found out the SSD was broken. Got a new one, now it works perfectly.
@Boom boom Boom monomer solid state drive. It‘s a type of memory, like HDD (hard disc drive), usually used in computers. Not going into detail on HDD (look it up), but an SSD is smaller, doesn‘t have mechanical parts to safe and read data, consumes less power and is way faster. So the PS5 has a slot for it, you can extend the memory to safe more games and stuff.

I had a problem where there was thunder in my area and somehow it affected my ps5, and it said the data base was corrupted then the screen turned black. I went in to the safe mode and rebuilt the database and it fixed it. Btw if the screen is still black let it load for about 10-20 minutes and it should be back.
This is ridiculous but I can get an image by connecting my playstation to the computer monitor, but if I connect it to the hdmi input on the TV, I can't get an image. I can get an image by connecting my computer to the TV with hdmi from the same hdmi input. In other words, the TV hdmi input works, but when I connect the PS, I only hear sound.

A disc was inserted, that I could not remove. It ejected the disc during shutdown, after the black screen error disappeared..

When I turn hdr on my lg tv I restart it and go on my ps5 and doesn’t show display when I have it on it dose
