  • BUY, LEASE OR FINANCE A SUZUKI JIMNI FROM OSV - bit.ly/3qGYwh1
Good news if you thought the chirpy, endearing little Suzuki Jimny small SUV was dead. It lives on in this commercial form as the Jimny LCV. But all the things we loved about the fourth-generation Jimny stay intact. It's the van you never knew you wanted.
Like us, you can probably think of quite a few cars that left production far too soon. In the modern era, that's usually because they fail to meet ever-more stringent emissions regulations and such a casualty was the fourth-generation Suzuki Jimny small SUV, which launched here at the end of 2018 but stayed on sale in the UK for only 18 months.
Turned out its modest 1.5-litre petrol engine was dragging down Suzuki's model range 95g/km CO2 fleet average, so it had to go - and that was that.
Or so we thought. But then someone at Suzuki discovered the 'N1 Light Commercial' vehicle category that covers LCVs under 3.5 tonnes. Models of that sort sold here classified as vans don't contribute to their manufacturers' CO2 fleet average.
Other parts of the globe already wanted an LCV-orientated Jimny; why not sell that here? Hence in 2021, the launch of this model, the Jimny LCV.

If you are a farmer/landowner yes the Suzuki Jimny is worth buying for its reliability and off road capabilities. Like most cars today it won't be cheap to buy but it will last a long time and will be more reliable than a Land Rover.

But what are you going to use it for that justifies £25k? Just buy an entry pickup

    • @bondjamesbond9041

@@MarthaMansbridge What "entry pickup" can you get for £25k. The cheapest new pickup in the UK is the SsangYong Musso at £32k. Or you can get a Dacia Duster commercial diesel 4x4 for £25k.There aren't any new "pickups" on the UK market in the UK for £25k unless you are looking at a used example then you don't have the warranty and the running costs will be higher.

That is impressive for a "proper" 4x4 with solid axles and low range transfer case... I'm luck if I get that much from my puny 0.8L electronically injected NA hatchback...

      How do you manage that?
Long drives without stopping and starting?
Most people (without things like roof racks) seem to get ~37.

Suzuki is wise to create a cheap, compact, uncomplicated and fully-enclosed car that uniquely serves the purpose of farmer-friendly mud-plugging. Now that there is no Lada Niva or true Defender sold in England, it has almost zero competition. The addition of rugged steel wheels completes the conversion into a proper offroader. Hopefully, it maintains the theme and the simple NA engine in any furure redesign.

I'm surprised Suzuki didn't change the engine instead. Not that it seems they're having any difficulties selling it as it now stands!
By the way, I'm not certain it applies to the Jimny, but Suzuki have just introduced Service Activated Warranty, which does indeed extend cover to seven years / 100,000 miles. It does require that vehicles are serviced at Suzuki dealerships, but the good news is that used cars qualify retrospectively.

I got a 2019 SZ4 with the steel wheels and no Sat Nav. Can't say have noticed any issues with how it drives. My only
frustration is the rock hard passenger elbow rest, bit annoyed the amount of rust on all the chasis parts.
    It is not for sale.

Firstly its not an SUV l hate reviewers calling it an SUV it is a proper 4X4 and in Australia fortunately it still comes in passenger form our son has one and in Australia and most of thr world these are a very desirable vehicle's in Australia second hand they are worth aus $8000 to $10000 over the new price and the previous generation are selling for what they cost brand new it is so difficult to get one brand new there are waiting lists because Suzuki sent 1000 Jimnys to Mexico and they sold out in 2 minutes that just shows you how disirable

About £22,350 in a nice colour. There are new unsold ones at dealers in white, which you can get below list price. You can't order one as such; you have to ask the dealer to reserve one when it's already on the boat from Japan.

It was weak willed of Suzuki to kill the normal version in the U.K. - how can other brands sell enormous gas guzzlers with 5 litre engines and yet they can’t sell this tiny thing due to ‘emissions rules’???

If you want to topple over on tarmac roads and die then yes.... Lack of safety features found on most modern vehicles is lacking..
If you are doing narrow forest roads then it is a good little thing...
They had to make it a two seater to avoid CO2 penalties in most countries.. The engine is an old design..
Best purchased used and only if very, very cheap...

    • @MJin03
      @MJin03 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Mate you have no clue what you are talking about.
This car does not have a history of rollover on tarmac. Tell me which important modern safety feature is missing.
The car has been sold out everywhere with a massive wait list that started before the worldwide semi-conductor shortage. All the 400 stock mentioned in the video is probably already sold out so even if you wanted one you probably can't.
So you want a second hand one for cheap? Good luck buddy. Currently second hand costs 20% more than brand new.

@@MJin03 3 star NCAP rating 5 years ago, 50% for safety feature. Not good on side impact protection
I have not heard about overturning (I guess idiot drivers are capable of anything), but NCAP coupled with its small engine renders it unsafe on national road or highway traffic.
That said, it’s one of the best design package for 4x4, brillant vehicle in its narrow application.
Just not fit for purpose on most tarmac

    • @MJin03
      @MJin03 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@@Toubabou I am aware of the 3/5 star ANCAP rating, but 3 stars is actually the average. So if you consider it as unsafe then you are saying the average car is unsafe. The 70%+ adult passenger and 80%+ child safety ratings indicates that this is not an "unsafe" car.
One reason for the 3 star attributes to the bad pedestrian protection core of also ~50%. This does not relate to the safety of the passenger/driver. The main reason for 50% safety feature rating are related to lane keep assist and blind spot warning. They are not standard on most modern vehicles.

@@Toubabou Most cars get 3 stars. The other two stars are usually for "safety gizmos" - which you wouldn't expect on what is pretty much a farming implement. On balance, I think I'd rather be in the Suzi when hit by any small 5 door hatch or city car you care to name, bar an Ignis. You maybe not.
