    Heading to Shetland in August of 2023. If I see half of what you've given us I'll be a happy chap. Thank you Nick.

    The soundtrack suits the drama of the place with a transition to gentler music as the visuals mellow. Great job. Really appreciate all the creativity and effort you put into these videos. Thank you.

    Beautiful video of a beautiful place. One of my favourite places of all time and a place where my family lived and my youngest granddaughter was born. I'm off to my bed, but a lovely way to end an evening. Beautiful, thank you.

    I love watching videos of all our British Islands and other places further afield such as Ascension, Falklands, Tristan de Cuhna , St Helena, all good well produced videos, but this one rises above the rest regarding the Shetlands, music so evocative, inspiring, videos of marine life with such clarity, aerial shots that just make you wish your were the drone, I'm guessing you are a shetland resident who is so proud of your island, thank you for sharing Nick, how on earth 8 people can give you a thumbs down I'll never know, now if you could do one of the moon and back that would be great, but I guess you wouldn't be able to use your bike, Cheers Mike

      Thanks so much Mike you're comment are very much appreciated. Battery tech is improving all the time but the moon is still out of reach for me just now (although we're on the same page with that!). I'm very lucky to live here and I it feels selfish not to try share it in some way so you're bang on with my motives.

    That is by far the best Scotland video I’ve ever seen and believe me I’ve watched thousands. Thank you for all the hard work it must of been not only to put this together but the work you and your friend did in the vast sea with tiny kayaks, that shows a lot of bravery and dedication. Can I ask was that one visit or many? The wild life footages I am in envy. I wanted to go there in my MotorHome and use my Honwave with 20hp outboard. It’s 2023 now and since covid and people have discovered Scotland for it’s true beauty ferries and the like are sky high in prices and my MotorHome is 8metres and they want commercial prices now and that’s just for the Hebrides so to Orkney and Shetland is over £1000 each way I’ve been told. Thanks for sharing your experiences,AMAZING Ray K 🇬🇧 YNWA.

    • @southspearmedia
      @southspearmedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, thank you for the kind words! This is years old now and it still amazes people connect with it. I love in Shetland so that was just a collection of clips from a 6 month window, mostly gathered over weekends when I wasn't working.
      Your Honwave will get you to lots of very interesting places too, nice little package tbh. Light enough to transport and launch anywhere and with enough poke to get you places in good time. I've got a few boats myself and they open up the world around you in a way that's hard to explain. I hope you asked it up some time. Orkney is also fantastic, you could potentially double then up if you travel via Scrabster (North Scotland) to Stromness (Orkney) and then later from Kirkwall (Orkney) on to Lerwick (Shetland) that's a cheaper way to do the crossing too which is an added bonus.

    Truly superb video, thank you for sharing. :-)
    If you are not a professional film-maker, you ought to be! Not least, for Shetland Council, your videos are a great advertisement for Shetland, not that I would need much encouragement to move there, I would in a heartbeat, if I could.
    If it is not too cheeky, could I ask for a video presentation of Fetlar, if possible? I seem to have fallen in love with that island ( from afar, ) and would very much like to see your take on it, please.
    Thank you again.

    • @southspearmedia
      @southspearmedia  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much! I'm hoping to move into professional stuff soon, time and money are big factors to consider. Really appreciate the confidence in ability though, I really enjoy doing this and to be honest I love showcasing my home for no other reason than the fact it is incredible and I want others to see what I do. If I could get this to pay for new equipment I would be a happy Dad. I'm trying to improve all the time. I actually work for the Council but in a totally unrelated capacity. I work with families that live on Fetlar (and other Isles) so I know a bit about most of them and have 'on the ground' contacts if you want to know anything about rural spots? Soon I hope to do a small tour of the Isles and put together version 3.0. Besides an impending Winter, some big, work-related (day job) projects are demanding my attention so I may be a little while getting to that project. I'm always keen for ideas and feedback even if it's not always positive (as long as it's fair and constructive). A little video on each Island would be very cool though so keep the ideas coming!

    Dear Nick, what is the best time to see killer whales on Shetland?

    • @southspearmedia
      @southspearmedia  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bruno, in reality we can see Killer whales all year round. They are transient here which means they can appear and disappear at random. However I personally would say they are most regular and predictable between June, July and early August where they appear to come here specifically to hunt seals quite heavily during those months. They tend to hang about for a few weeks before they move off and become more random in sightings.

    • @bruno1989zg
      @bruno1989zg 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nick thank you. I would like to visit Shetland Island (after Edinburgh and Aberdeen). My big wish is to see wild orcas so that is the reason I'm asking you. I'm planning trip for next August :)
