    So amazing thank you for showing us this. David. You are very lucky to have seen all this. The wild life is so vast and this does not show what is under the waves either. I will say that all of Scotland Wales and British Isle is amazing. I was shocked to learn of the holiday camps from the second world war. I am sure they all enjoyed the area. I am getting old so may not get to see anything like this thank you to you and your girl friend so much. Have a great life together, hopefully for ever. Cheers Tel a bit further down the North Sea lol.

    What an AMAZING story. Never fancied those island but I have a plan in my head to visit as many isles as I can. Now they are on my list, did you do a plan I can see to follow your trip ? I may have a BIG problem tho, I live in a 6 berth MotorHome. Do those ferries take big vehicles? The island hopping is no problem as long as the weather is kind. I have a Honwave S.I.B with 20hp outboard . where the two of you walked all around I would like to mostly circumnavigate around ones that I can but taking the ferries on long hall trips as I plan to do it on my own and use my tent. Thank you so much for that it’s given me another adventure to go on after doing Loch Linnhe in May. Really loved the video and how it was presented. You look a great couple. Thanks again Ray K UK. Dave; just to say and too ask.
    I loved this upload and uncharacteristically posting a comment midway through 🙄!!!
    First up, so far (and am confident it shall continue) excellent narration, mood perfect soundtrack, which captures the atmosphere of these particularly beautiful parts of our wee country. ...
    For the moment, one question; I fess up to being utterly ignorant when it comes to drone photography and rely for such from my son whom, like yourself no doubt appears to make it seem like the simplistic most natural thing to do!!
    Anyways David my drone question, I get it that you can have the drone in hover mode, but it seemed at times that with both of you walking arm in arm it looked as if drone was following you!!!
    Again I have no idea if you guys had a third party on your trip operating the drone, but if not, I would appreciate your comment...
    Thanks again my friend.
    P.S. watching it on my big telly but commenting via my phone.... a thoroughly excellent vlog 👍

      Thanks for taking the time to watch , really appreciate it and really appreciate taking the time to leave such a nice comment!
      No third party I usually either have the controller in hand and out of sight or I use the tap fly feature and put the remote down or it does have a tracking feature which I use sometimes but I prefer to control myself to get the shot I want 😊
      Hope this helps and glad you watched it on the big screen

    About 20 minutes in, when you were at Uyea and North Wick, did you just walk across from Isbister? Looking at a map, I don't see a road out to that part of the coast. I'll be there in Sept and would love to see that area, which I missed last year. Great video!

      Thanks for watching . We parked at Sandvoe and walked from there. If you Google “Uyea Circular Walk Highlands “ it will have all the details 😊 .
      If you want the walk to be easier just take the landrover track in and out and avoid walking around the coast .

    • @Dave_Whyte
      @Dave_Whyte  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you ! I think there was only one night where there was a handful of midges around the van so not a worry at all compared to the west coast.
      I think around £300-£400 on diesel , we did drive a bit further than planned. We found everything well priced for campsites . The ferry’s between the islands were also pretty reasonably priced. Probably spent around £1000 for the 3 weeks.

    It looks like there were at least 3 of you if someone was operating the drone while you were both standing in the arch? Would love to know how many of you there were! Would the DJI Mavic mini cope with the wind there or do you need the bigger one?

    • @Dave_Whyte
      @Dave_Whyte  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There was just the two of us. I had the control in my hand.
      I’ve never flown the mini but from what I’ve seen they can often struggle in high wind. Never had issues with the Mavic 2 although occasionally the footage will be shaky depending on the wind direction if it’s above 45mph.

      @@Dave_Whyte Wow, I'm so impressed! but yes it's obvious now you say it. Did you have to ask permission to fly at all - just wondering if there are many restrictions, especially with the wildlife there? @@artoflifefilmsuk A lot of driving if you base yourself in Lerwick. Would recommend trips to the other islands.
      From memory I did not see any signs restricting drones apart from around the airports . You do need to keep your distance to whales & dolphins and I wouldn’t be flying it anywhere close to bird colonies. Avoid flying around Arctic Terns & Bonxies .
