      It was mine too! I realized I was probably drinking bacteria a few yrs ago when I first got an insulated mug, and began seeing "black gunk" on my rubber seal. I asked my Mom, "Like, what is this gunk all over my lid??" Her exact reply? "Your body's own bacteria! Go clean that thing!!"
      Mind you, I'm 53yrs old! But I'm still a Momma's girl, so I started doing a weekly, diluted vinegar soak for 24hrs. Thought I had a great handle on it! But leave it to Melissa to scold me, lol! Still NOT clean enough! I DO rinse it daily, but actually CLEAN it with soap & water daily??
      Nooo....haven't done that. Just what I needed was another project to add to my already hectic day!
      But what Clean My Space says, (and my Mother!) I do! Especially when it involves my health!
      I have a bad enough immune system, I don't need to add to it, by contaminating my body with my own bacteria!!! Dang, can't someone make a "Clean Itself Water Bottle" ???
      Genius idea💡!!!!

    You can also follow the CDC recommendation for adding bleach, a few drops likely for a water bottle, just to make sure it's clean. Toothbrush to clean the various parts also in the diluted water with bleach, then rinse well. I generally after cleaning something you drink or eat out of well will fill it with clean water and let it sit for 15 mins, dump it and repeat, just to make sure any chemical is gone.

  • @slc1161
    @slc1161 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Better tip. Get denture tablets. They both clean and disinfect. Before bed, remove the cap rubber ring. Drop the ring and the cap into a deep glass bowl. Fill with enough hot water to cover. Add 2 denture tablets. Fill your water bottle about a quarter of the way with hot water. Drop in 2 or 3 denture tabs. As it is foaming, use a brush and distribute the water mixture all the way up and let it sit overnight. In the morning, give a light scrub and rinse with warm water. Alternatively, add 4 to 5 tablets into your bottle. Add hot water to top. Let sit overnight. I have also filled a dishpan with hot water and put a few drops of detergent along with 6 denture tabs. Drop in all your disassembled bottles, rings, and tops.

    For mold, the best option is, after washing it with detergent, to use a solution of vinegar-water -leave it inside 10-15 minutes - or a small amount of vinegar without water - pour it inside, shake and leave it 1-5 minutes. Then, of course, rinse it well. It will kill bacteria and remove any type of odor.
