    you also had to say that you can always create new tracks, as many as necessary to produce a whole song track by track! It is very confusing what you say because it gives the feeling that you can only record 2 tracks inside a multitracker, if you understand what I mean! Great Video and great playing from your part, thanks and greetings from Germany!

    How the hell can you use the firewire on the ZED 16? No new computer has firewire? Does that make the ZED 16 already obselete?

    • @papa.alfredo
      @papa.alfredo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      why do I need Firewire? I am great with USB Audio Interfaces, this mixer are for that, and for the millions which use USB, these mixers are not obsolete!

    Hmmm, I’m trying to decide on a new mixer for onstage use at gigs, just gonna have 3 or 4 keyboards going into it in stereo, then from the desk to FOH, which is a better built more reliable and better sounding mixer? Soundcraft EPM or Signature models or Allen & Heath ZED14?

    just threw in as an afterthought "you only get 2 channels at a time." that's the whole reason i'm looking for a mixer.. i need more than channels going into my computer.

      Buy one of the tascam 16 channel interface. they are very reasonably priced and you have a dedicated interface which you can independently sell later.

    How many individual tracks can I have as inputs on logic?? Is this only two inputs for logic??

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, good question! Yes, the ZED series mixers are definitely an analog focused mixer and only have a 2 x 2 audio interface built in. This allows you to patch the master bus into your DAW and return a backing track or other two track source from your computer. If you are looking for a solid analog style mixer with a bunch of I/O, you may want to look at the Tascam Model series mixers. They will give you I/O per track allowing much more complex routing solutions. If you want to dig into hybrid mixers further, give me a call!

    I don't see any volume knob for the MONO OUTPUT. The MONO volume is linked with the MASTER OUT?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! Thanks for reaching out. You're exactly right! The Mono Out is linked to the Main Out, so the master fader will be the end of the chain before you hit that output. If you have any other questions, or want to chat more about how this would work in your setup, give me a shout at the contact info below.

    Oh and just one other question. This mixer has no FX right? It has just USB? I'm looking for a mixer with a full analog signal path - so I'm hoping this is the mixer for me! Ive heard that all the mixers which has onboard digital effects send the signal through the effects even when they are switched off or turned down - so the signal is converted into digital :( I want a pure analog mixer

    • @j.alarid4480
      @j.alarid4480 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not a rep, but i can say that connecting your stereo instruments in the way you mentioned will indeed give you stereo image. The zed series of mixers vary in the way of digital effects, some do not have any while the ones that do, specify so. I understand what you mean about the digital coloration that occurs when going through "off" digital circuitry, but if you're planning to record out of the board keep in mind that your audio will at some point be converted to digital unless you are super old school tape recording which i seriously doubt and even so just think of the inevitable mp3 files played back on ipod earphones by your listeners haha.

    I'm going to ask a really newbie question....so please don't shout me down lolI have two instruments - a roland RD800 stage piano and a synth. Both of these are stereo. If I take the leads from these instruments and use the mono channel strips on this mixer would I get stereo sound again by panning the LEFT and RIGHT? Does that make sense?

    • @ccanaves
      @ccanaves 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it makes perfect sense.

    • @obergssin
      @obergssin 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kind of a confusing question. If you want stereo from each keyboard you need to take left and right from each one ... So 4 mono channels. Then you can pan them how you want ... Most times not extreme left and right ... Probably left 10 o'clock and right 2 o'clock if you need to pan at all. If you run them straight up at 12 you are still at least getting a stereo output from the keyboard which if the main thing because most of them don't work right unless you take a stereo output form them.

    • @torikenyon
      @torikenyon 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This mixer has its own stereo inputs so you don't really have to do that

    • @AnalogFlava
      @AnalogFlava 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@obergssin why wouldnt you pan hard left/right - isn't that the way to get full stereo width from two mono channels, for pads, for example, this is how I would doo, and if layering Ii may pan some of them a bit differently, say 11 and 14??

      Hey, Pete. Thank you for checking out our TH-cam video. The Allen & Heath Zed mixers do offer inserts on every channel on the larger mixers in the series. Those inserts can be wired to be a send to a recording setup as individual outputs. For instruction on modifying the cables to have a proper connection, please check out this link:

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Ponzo. Thanks for reaching out! The Allen & Heath ZED22FX is a great mixer that will give you a lot of Input/Output options. Typically this is designed for 3 monitor mixes (2 of them pre and 1 being post), but if you’re just using powered monitors you can daisy chain as many as you want as long as you’re okay with having up to 3 monitor mixes. Pre mixes would be ideal!
      I hope this info helps, but let us know if you have any more questions. Thanks and take care!
