What a great memory for kids to have, salt dough ornaments. Neat savory crepe recipe. Almost hungarian like recipe...Hortobágyi Palacsinta soda water thin pancakes with stew meat tomatoes paprika onions, with sour cream and creamy tomato paprika meat broth sauce
Can you only imagine your life without all of these kids.....NOOOOO!!!!!!! I love how you just take everything in stride and go with it!!!! $10 a gal for milk, oh, my goodness. I'm surprised y'all get by with as few cows that you have!!!!! lol Love watching your videos. The tree is gorgeous and decorated with the BEST handmade ornaments ever!!!!! Thank you for sharing your sweet family with us!!!!!
And oh, We LOVE watching Little Mountain Ranch!!!! Sooooo inspriring and we can deram away to the day when we can move out to the forest and off grid. OR move to Canada 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I love seeing other families’ Christmas traditions. We have a number of traditions too. When my kids left home I gave them all of their ornaments for their own tree. We decided to let the grandkids pick a theme/color combo each year in descending age. It has been very interesting and though expensive initially, now we have most colors imaginable and have even spray painted ornaments as needed. So many combos I could not list them all. The grands are adults now too but we have a great granddaughter to add to the lineup.
Lovely to see a family tree decorated with love. Your attitude reminds me, at least in my home, that the mama and her love really makes the path for how the family treats each other.
The cookies with jam were always known as Thumbprint Cookies in our house. I love that you have the Radio Cookie story to pass down and remember in your family. I've shared it more than once myself. My girlfriend commented that there is probably more than one Radio Cookie for the same reason from days where that is how things were shared more. She hopes people from 2 of those families meet some day.
In our house too, 71 and making them every year since small child. My Mama 99 taught me. We called them Jam thumbprints. Through the years hav done apricot, strawberry, raspberries, etc. Love them. I think Radio cookies is a great fun name. Great family tradition. Hugs from N.C..❤️
As someone that doesn't have kids, I tend to be critical of those that do and how they raise them, or more specifically how they expect them to be small adults. You and your parenting fill my heart with joy! You actually let your kids be kids; you encourage their creativity and self expression and I am in awe. Thank you for being such a lovely example of what mindful parenting looks like and thank you for sharing that aspect of your daily life! I know the internet can be a dark place to do so and I find it both brave and inspiring to watch you do it.
Your tree reminds me so much of the one we have had for over 50 years..always (up to now) have a fresh cut tree with loads of handmade and keepsake ornaments. When we started out, we bought 3 dozen glass and styrofoam ball ornaments. My husband had one keepsake, but I had none. Each year we added, and as the children came along they would add some. Now the tree is such a beautiful (in my opinion) hodgepodge of our life together. I did give the children all of their special ornaments when they married, but I continue to add a few each year from trips or ideas I see somewhere. Now, one of my grandma traditions, is to create handmade ornaments each year for the grandchildren. I know some folks like their tree to be themed or cohesive with color or style...but I love the beauty of the hodgepodge! I also might have to try your radio cookies...look yummy. I've got lots of raspberries and blueberries in the freezer, too! Thanks! Marie...P.S. We still have one blue glass ball and one gold styrofoam ball from our first Christmas; they go near the top!
This is the first year that my now two and a half year old can properly participate in Christmas crafts and salt dough ornaments are definitely on our list. I think the thumbs might be too small to make the jam well in the cookies but she might enjoy rolling them and spooning the jam.
I love the tree. We did Our tree like this all my life, the kids decorate the tree that is what Christmas is for the kids, and Most of all The Birth of Jesus Nothing else matters what you get or how much you get don't count LOL have a wonderful holiday season
Your child''s picture is marvelous! Good job! Love the ornaments...Good job Family! Tree looks wonderful. I had the same problem with my loaves of bread until I decided to start using my digital scale...I bake 10 at a time and sell so its worth dirtying the scale. Yes, milk is pricey...When I was young and grew up on the dairy farm, I would drink 1/2 gallon a day my self...then when I started buying on my own my consumption went way down. Now with making yogurt and what not I am wishing I had a milk cow - not to mention the stuff they are adding to cream and other dairy. Good video!
Your Christmas tree is beautiful. Your kiddies did an excellent job on the dough decorations. I'm definitely going to make your radio cookies. They look so yummy. We live in Ontario, but my husband is originally from the east coast (New Brunswick). I've got a cook book that was put together from a few ladies down there and a lot of them are very much like your radio cookies. Course my husband was raised with cookies like yours, so I'm sure he'll really like them. Thanks for the GREAT video! Take care! ☃🎄
My mom called them gum drop cookies, she was french.. my aunt called them thumb print cookies she was married to an Italian at that time. Same exact cookie!
Radio Cookies the name is great it comes with history a recipe that is treasured. I love you save decorations for your older children to put on the tree, everyone has hands in decorating Christmas Tree an important family tradition and makes memories. Enjoyed todays video❤️🙏🏻
What a beautiful tree. I love handmade ornaments on a tree no 2 are the same and each is a memory of something or someone. We decorate our tree from ornaments that we collected on our travels or that I collected when I was in the Air Force.
I loved seeing the tree come to life! I’m actually making homemade ornaments this year to give as gifts! It’s nice to know so many others find them super sentimental too. ❤
I love pine trees to especially the pine cones still attached :) The first one we ever had many years ago had a little birds nest in it. My husband gave me several boxes with little notes hinting things and finally I figured out to look in the birds nest and he had bought me beautiful ear rings. Very fond memory of that tree. Oh wow with the parchment paper trick! My gosh the crepes look divine. And that is lunch? Tree is truly beautiful. hugs
Lovely tree. It's so nice to have homemade ornaments. My grandmother gave me ornaments she made many years ago and a few years ago I gave those to my son and his family so they can enjoy them. It's great to pass them along.
My mom made a variation of this cookie. I believe she used white sugar and she rolled them in very finely chopped walnuts before putting her thumbprint in. She call them Thimble cookies. Your tree is beautiful.
My mom and I make these. We call them thumbprints. We make the dough, cover in egg whites and then roll in chopped walnuts. Press your thumb in the center and bake them. Then I fill them with icing but we do a version with jam too!
@@LittleMountainRanch another idea is to roll them in crushed flaked cereal so corn flakes is what my mom used to use because it was less sweet and what she used to do was overextend her thumbprint and didn’t fill with jam until after they came out of the oven! That way no sticking overflow and the jam still bakes a little as the cookies cool. We called them Jammies or thumbprint cookies. I happen to be in touch with the radio personality that was on the radio when I was growing up in the early 70’s he was the morning show person Rusty Draper in Southern Ontario, Canada and at the end of his show every morning he said the same thing as a special message to his wife and if you ask anyone older then me (my parents generation)they can remember what it was. It’s the funniest thing that everyone remembers. He said “put the kettle on honey. I’m coming home” He wrote a book in his later years his memoirs and he says he wrote it for his grandkids so they would know all about him. To his surprise a lot of us that grew up listening to him are enjoying the read too! 🥰❤️🇨🇦🙏🏻
A beautiful tree, I would love to be able to go get a tree in the snow. The little one painting was beautiful, and so were the homemade ornaments. I could almost smell the bread with a lot of butter yum. I could watch your videos all day.
Just came here to say. That I made your Best Chocolate cake recipe last week for my sons bday. It IS the BEST chocolate cake ever! I reduced the amount of sugar by about a couple of tablespoons. Omg! Thank you
Love the radio cookie story. In our house we call Empire cookies Honeymoon Cookies and always have. My Grandma made them for my parents to take on their honeymoon trip and that's all I've ever known them as for over 60 yrs!
You have some very artistic and creative kids! The painting was lovely and so were the ornaments. So cool to see children using their imaginations, increasingly rare with so much screen time I’m afraid.
What a delightful video to watch. Thank you for taking us along on your eventful day. Your Xmas tree is beautiful. A pine tree smells so good but in my experience it does dry out faster than the other trees and drops needles. Get that cow to work...Looking forward to your next video. Again thanks.
💚 What a beautiful Christmas Tree, thank you so much for sharing the tree decorating (and dough ornament-making..we used to do that growing up-good memories 😊). Cookies and Crepes look delicious! 💚
ah, my fave fillings for crepes are tomato/mozz/basil with a little olive oil (messy but so good!) or tuna salad, preferably with a bit of cucumber in it. both of these are super summery and not appropriate for this time of year, but ideas for the future are always nice!
In Germany we call these cookies Husarenkrapfen (Hussar's doughnuts). I always made a recipe where I bake the dough and fill the jam afterwards and let thats dry for two days. My has a icing too. What a beautiful tree! We have a family member coming into town next week to stay with us over Christmas and are waiting to decorate with her. I loved seeing all of your precious, homemade ornaments.
The painting…..so much to love. The color of the clothing, the SUN ( so warm feeling), the trees… it just made me feel right at home. You can’t remember a recipe doing it once a year! Busy family making memories for this year!
Theres a trick to get the cow to let down the milk. You bring the calf out and tie it right by the utters and then start milking. She thinks it’s her calf and will let down her milk. THIS WILL WORK! ❤
I love the name of your cookies, I think it is a very special name for them! A well loved recipe and the family tradition is so heart warming. The painting, decorations and tree all made for a very sweet, and beautiful video. Thank you for sharing and God bless
The tree is lovely. And, what fun to simply go out in the woods and cut one down and take it home. I’m from North Carolina, and going out in the woods and getting a tree was the only way to get one back then. The cookies and bread looked marvelous!! Blessings always!! ♥️🙏🏼♥️
I just love watching you. Your videos always make me feel warm and peaceful. I don't know how you do so much though. I'm terrified of making bread. It never turns out really good. I have a ton of grain and my own mill to mill it but it just never seems to taste right. You are inspiring.
I absolutely love my different size scoops for measuring cookie dough, meat balls, and cupcake portioning into tins. It actual cuts down on the time as well.
Oh cool. Those "radio cookies" are called Hallongrottor (translated to eng: Hallon = Raspberries and Grottor = cave) ☺here in Sweden. :) Its the best and yummiest cookies ever! Me and my kids love them!
I wish I’d have grown up in such a wonderful family unit! Do you bake the ornaments you made at all or do they just dry? Such happy happy memories. I will have to try your recipes, even though it’s just my husband and I now… Thank you for sharing how a more “functional” family does things; especially does them together. God Bless
Luv ur Christmas tree and all the homemade ornaments & painting! U have quite a talented crew!!! Ur 'radio cookies' brought back a childhood Christmas memory. My mom use to bake them @ Christmas....I do not recall what she called them, but I called them.....'good'!
Those are my oldest Granddaughters favorite cookie we call them Thumbprint cookies and can use any jam you want in them. Thank you going to try her recipe
Oooh, I have really need to make "Radio Cookies" this year. My grandma made them, but (she) we rolled the balls in chopped pecans before putting the divot in. Thank-you for unlocking a Christmas cookie memory
Good Thursday morning Little Mountain Ranch. What can I say? These videos just keep getting better and better, with excellent content and superlative production values. But that's of course to be expected from a charming offgrid woman such as yourself. Those homemade Christmas cookes and crepes look absolutely delicious - and I love the ornaments. 😉😉
@@LittleMountainRanch You're quite welcome. Have a Happy Friday and a wonderful weekend. Once again, another excellent video from an outstanding and talented self sufficient offgrid woman - strongly evocative of the poem "The Four Seasons" by Cecil Alexander" "The fields are rich with daffodils, A coat of clover cloaks the hills, And I must dance, and I must sing To see the beauty of the spring. The earth is warm, the sun's ablaze, It is a time of carefree days; And bees abuzz that chance to pass May see me snoozing in the grass. The leaves are yellow, red, and brown, A shower sprinkles softly down; The air is fragrant, crisp, and cool, And once again I'm stuck in school. The birds are gone, the world is white, The winds are wild, they chill and bite; The ground is thick with slush and sleet, And I can barely feel my feet. The last is done, the next is here, The same as it is every year; Spring -- then sunshine ' autumn ' snow, That is how each year must go Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day and weekend. ❤❤🌼🌻
Wonderful vlog, as always! You’re so creative with your meals & I admire how you enjoy cooking & visiting with the kids all the while! Beautiful tree, bread, cookies & crepes! Many blessings to your family 🤗💕
Thank you! This was a warm Christmas hug of a video!

She loves to paint and has a real vision for the idea she’s trying to get across.

Wonderful video! all the recipes sound & look so yummy! I like that the children were making ornaments. Thank you for sharing~!

Great job on the tree and ornaments
YES I enjoyed it very much - thanks!
Wonderful video. Christmas is my favorite time of the year.
Jam drops 🎉all time favourite
ah, my fave fillings for crepes are tomato/mozz/basil with a little olive oil (messy but so good!) or tuna salad, preferably with a bit of cucumber in it. both of these are super summery and not appropriate for this time of year, but ideas for the future are always nice!
Beautiful painting! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Yes beautiful picture!
I love watching your show. The tree looks fantastic. In Australia, we call the cookies you are making Jam Drops.

My Nanna and Mom made these and always called them thimble cookies. Very yummy cookies
In Germany we call these cookies Husarenkrapfen (Hussar's doughnuts). I always made a recipe where I bake the dough and fill the jam afterwards and let thats dry for two days. My has a icing too. It's always a hit.
Crepés.. I love them! In my family we do them savory all the time. Our dough is without butter or salt, just flour, eggs and milk and we fill it with potato salad. I know it sounds weird but it's so good. This comes from my great grandparents who had 12 children all married and they all had at least 3 kids. they used to meet at my greatgrandparents house every Wednesday and my great grandparents didn't have much. but they always had everything for crepés and potato salad. We call that Flädle and its eaten with broth. Like but some in a bowl add broth and enjoy. It's one of my favorite soups ever!
I love this so much!❤️
What a beautiful tree! We have a family member coming into town next week to stay with us over Christmas and are waiting to decorate with her. I loved seeing all of your precious, homemade ornaments.
Love all the homemade ornaments. Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and the happiest of New year's
That only works when their small enough to get back off, this calf is huge and I’d never get her back out! Lol
Yep. Works every time😁
Love your kids ornaments and her painting! Amazing! ❤ The tree looks great!
The crackling sounds Martha makes is so beautiful
Beautiful tree.
So lovely.
I love the name of your cookies, I think it is a very special name for them! A well loved recipe and the family tradition is so heart warming. The painting, decorations and tree all made for a very sweet, and beautiful video. Thank you for sharing and God bless

I have had those cookies filled with apricot jam. Delicious!!
The tree is lovely. And, what fun to simply go out in the woods and cut one down and take it home. I’m from North Carolina, and going out in the woods and getting a tree was the only way to get one back then. The cookies and bread looked marvelous!! Blessings always!! ♥️🙏🏼♥️

Beautiful tree and beautiful painting
Good Thursday morning Little Mountain Ranch. What can I say? These videos just keep getting better and better, with excellent content and superlative production values. But that's of course to be expected from a charming offgrid woman such as yourself. Those homemade Christmas cookes and crepes look absolutely delicious - and I love the ornaments. 😉😉
Thanks friend.
Yumm I'm hungry.
Great video.
Gotta go cook now!!!
And put up our tree.
Keep the faith,
cheers
