I have been fan of Amaranthe for a a while, just recently got into Sabaton thanks to looking at some of your old vids. Sabaton's version is better, just has more emotion. Probably because they wrote the song and that type of story is what they do. But they are both incredible.

No the most decorated soldier is Audie Murphy and Sabaton got a song about him too named To Hell and Back the lyrics are made from poems murphy himself wrote about the war it´s really good.
They ran out of american medals for Audie Murphey so they had to give him some french ones. I dont remember how accurate that is but I do know they ran out of american awards for him.
York is the most decorated soldier of WW1 but Audie Murphy is the most decorated soldier in US History.

Inspiring! Alvin Cullum York (December 13, 1887 - September 2, 1964), also known as Sergeant York, was one of the most decorated United States Army soldiers of World War I. He received the Medal of Honor for leading an attack on a German machine gun nest, taking at least one machine gun, killing at least 25 enemy soldiers and capturing 132. York's Medal of Honor action occurred during the United States-led portion of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in France, which was intended to breach the Hindenburg line and force the Germans to surrender. He earned decorations from several allied countries during WWI, including France, Italy and Montenegro. He later formed a charitable foundation to improve educational opportunities for children in rural Tennessee. The best version is live from Oslo this year where Amaranthe and Sabaton did it together as a final send off for their joint Europe tour. There are crowd videos from that performance on youtube.
A great song by both bands I can't choose it is a true story and it's cool two foreign bands did a song about it.
Sabaton wins hands down, it is their song after all.

There's a live performance where the three singers from Amaranthe sing the song with Sabaton and then Sabaton's lead singer comes out for the last verse. It's frickin' epic.
dude you gotta gets some Dir En Grey in here. Pretty much any live performance is amazing. It's one of those bands that you experience rather than just listen to. Kyo the lead singer has an amazing vocal range. One of my favorite J-rock bands!

This was how i became a Sabaton fan. I have been a fan of Amaranthe since the Nexus came out, so when they made a new single i january i had to hear it, and then i had to try the original, and now i have bought the 5 most recent albums. And i agree i can't choose either.

Well, how about seeing these two bands together live, playing this song together?! 😄 They did just that, in Oslo, Norway earlier this year. It was the final show on Sabaton's European tour. I was there, right in front of the stage!!🤘 Amaranthe and Apocalyptica were touring with Sabaton. AWESOME SHOWS from all of them!! If you liked this song (original and cover), you'd love Sabaton's "Angels calling" feat. Apocalyptica. You won't regret it!

I lost my shit when this started up at the concert I went to in Chicago last October. That whole concert was the epitome of hype.
I love both versions, but even though Sabaton is like my most played band and the banbd I've seen live more times than anyone else, I have to say I prefer AMaranthes cover on this one, simply because its more of a headbanger!
For me the opposite way, Joakim's baritone voice is just undefeatable.

I love this song from both bands but Amaranthe, to me, edges out Sabaton’s. I listen to it more often and enjoy it just a little more than Sabaton. And you need some more Amaranthe!
