He was reluctant at first to pull the trigger, but when he saw his best friend go down, he "snapped". Sgt. York killed over 28 men with his rifle shooting with amazing accuracy. He then fought off a 6 man bayonet charge with just his Colt .45 killing all 6 men. After it was all said and done, he captured over 130 prisoners and over 50 machine guns.
Alvin York killed 25 germans and captured 132 germans by himself. He took a German machine gun nest with a half loaded rifle and his M1911. When a general asked him" Well York I hear you captured the whole damn German Army," he replied with "No sir, only 132." I saw Sabaton live in Dallas last year they were amazing.
The thing about Alvin York worth mentioning that makes mentioning him bringing "his rifle and hist faith" worthwhile is that he was a Conscientious objector forced into the service, these days nations which conscript or draft troops generally have options like firefighting, medics etc for those people, whereas all volunteer militaries like the USA don't have to bother much with issue at all. But Alvin York wasn't given an option in this and was forced into this role in spite of his religious beliefs hence why his faith is relevant since he struggled with the what he had done(killing people) throughout his life.

The guy ended up flying into a rage after his best friend in his squad had gotten shot and he'd begun slaughtering any of the Kaiser's men that he saw. It got to the point where the German First Lieutenant announced IN ENGLISH that he would surrender his men if he would just "stop killing." They were then surprised to learn that the group of what they thought was about 20 Germans had then turned out to be 90. On the way back to friendly lines, they encountered another group of exhausted Germans, all but one of whom promptly surrendered, bringing the number of captured soldiers up to 132 and his kill count to over two dozen. If anyone deserves a movie about em, it's that dude.

@BillyYouSoCrazy if you don't know Sgt. Alvin York's story may l suggest you watch the old Gary Cooper movie SGT. YORK. He was a conscientious objector in WWI that went on to earn the Medal of Honor.
