4:10 I think this is a nice subversion. In Metroid, Samus only looks like a robot. In ESA, you actually control a robot. Most of the times, this doesn't change anything, but the ending is one exception, when the mother brain like character takes advantage of this. Another is an npc hidden in the lava area, which you may very well have not found. When he first talks, he seems really impressed by what you did and asks you tons of questions. But, of course, the robot doesn't answer. The npc becomes more and more desperate, until at some point he stops talking, probably both offended and hurt that the robot doesn't talk to him. This acknowledges how weird a silent protagonist actually is in a really interesting and funny way. Oh, btw, I don't see footage of True Mwhya in this video, only the first fight. Did you never find it? If so, you should really try to: it's worth it.
The best Metroid sucessor for me is not an indie Metroidvania game... It's the Doom soft reboot It has many of the things I liked about the Metroid games and then some. A dark atmospheric sci-fi setting. An impressive 3D engine. A badass protagonist that works as a self insert for the player but has enough identity of their own not to be a blank slate. Awesome music. Environmentsl storytelling. Memorable bosses. All kinds of awesome futuristic weapons. It doesn't get any more Metroid than that.
This game really makes you feel like a Greek letter.
What ??? I didn't know there was a bicycle !! I thought I did everything ! I guess I still have things to do before ESA 2.
Also, great video :)
Thanks! I didn't even find it until my 3rd playthrough- it's pretty well hidden.

I found it on another recent playthrough :) Seems like you're one of the few people that have actually played through it all!
