The guy with Eddie towards the end, Rick James, wrote and produced this song. Check out the 2006 movie "Dreamgirls" because Eddie sang in it. He's got a good voice but most people won't take him seriously as a singer because he started off as a comedian/actor. Eddie actually has a song and video with Michael Jackson called "Whatzupwitu."

Eddie Murphy got his big start on Saturday Night Live, at age 19. He was just a kid, but he literally put that show on his back and carried them through the next four years. Those of us who watched SNL back then knew he could sing, because he had skits where that was part of his role. I specifically remember his bang-on James Brown and Stevie Wonder impersonations that were completely hilarious. You can't do a good impersonation of either of those singers if you don't have some serious vocal chops.

Eddie wanted to work with Prince first but that didn't work out (because Prince did not work with people who "partied" too hard)...so he switched to Rick James who was happy to hear that Eddie didn't want to work with Prince. Eddie used to date Whitney Houston in the late 80's, but broke up with her. His brother, Charlie, told Howard Stern that the reason is that she "liked to party too much." In his autobiography, Bobby Brown described a conversation that he had with Eddie when he was interested in Whitney...and he said that Eddie said that Whitney is "too wild" for him, which intrigued him even more (because of her good girl image at the time). According to 2002 Whitney, she answered Diane Sawyer's question about drugs with "Yeah, I love to party..."
More surprising 80's one-hit wonders: Bruce Willis' "Respect Yourself".

Are you kidding me? THAT was Eddie Murphy??? I had no IDEA! Oh man! How stupid do I feel! I heard this off and on for a lot of the 80's, but I don't EVER remember hearing that it was Eddie Murphy who sang it. Oh wow! That's incredible! And man...he had a great voice! Why didn't he continue to make music? This is CRAZY! Loved your reaction, Bro!

These two (Eddie and Rick) were the biggest partiers in the 80's. Rick lost everything due to drugs.
