- Sure, we all love Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises... but why don't I ever hear anything about Batman Begins?! Well, it's my first time diving in, so I admittedly expected something average, but what I got was pretty fantastic!

Everyone talks so much about Dark Knight, but I really like Begins. People don't give it credit enough.
In my opinion begins is superior to rises
It was the only movie in that trilogy that felt like it was in more of a proper stylized Gotham. I've always said The Batman 22 kind of feels like the sequel Batman Begins never actually got
Because it’s the “Dark Knight Trilogy”
“The Dark Knight” is just part 2 in a 3 part theatrical masterpiece
@@JonathanLukeAveryMASTERPIECE? The first 2 movies are near-perfect comic book movies (especially Begins), but the Dark Knight Rises is a total mess of a movie even though I still love it.
The first hour is all over the place & barely has any Batman, the Talia Al Ghul plot twist was AWFUL, John Blake just happens to know Wayne is Batman?, Bruce Wayne’s vertebrae just gets punched back into his spine and now he’s magically healed, Bane’s death scene is so anticlimactic, etc.
The pronunciation of Ra's Al Ghul has been a highly debated topic since the dawn of time, Matty. Don't worry
It's an arabic name. It's pronounced the way it's spelt. The "Gh" sound doesn't exist in the English language and is pronounced like a "G" like "Ghost"
@@Omar_E11 the debated part is his first name. Ra's has been pronounced both as "Raaz" or "Raysh".
Yup. Batman: The Animated Series basically solified the "Raaz" pronunciation over the movie's and other things saying "Raysh".
@AlexCaste In Arabic, the word is "Ra'as" pronounced like "Rahss". His full name "Ra'as Alghul" translated to Head of the Ghost. I don't know where "Raysh" comes from at all.
I can’t believe you haven’t watched this until now
1. The Dark Knight
2. Batman Begins
3. Dark Knight Rises
Please watch Oppenheimer sooner than later. What a masterpiece
Its a clinic on masterpiece film making for sure
I enjoy this channel a lot, btw; I definitely prefer the episodes that you're talking to someone else.
Batman Begins delivers on so many levels. An origin journey of a hero, supporting cast, and the villains. Also Gotham is a thriving city, while the underground is another environment altogether.
Plus the entire cast is amazing. Everyone has an important part to the story.
The world, and character building feels like a comic book coming to life in the modern era. It does not drag on, it keeps you invested in what is going on, plus who might be connected within the vast rogues gallery.
It doesn't make the viewer feel lost, but it also does not hold your hand either. You feel connected to everyone, and it is a visceral feeling. Begins delivers something special 🦇
lol I got the Nolan Batman fan boys mad and I’m here for it 😂 they get so salty. Probably cause they only got three movies and only the middle one was highly regarded and that’s mostly because the joker. I’m glad we have moved away from realistic edgy Batman.
1a. Batman Begins (9.9/10)
1b. The Dark Knight (9.8/10)
BIG GAP
3. The Dark Knight Rises (7/10)
Murphy is a great choice for Scarecrow/Crane. they pretty much nailed scarecrow in these.
Did you forget that Scarecrow is the main villain of Arkham Knight?
Why would you reference Asylum of all things….
Check out Cillian Murphy in, 28 days later!
He's here.
Who?
The Bat man
My favorite line delivery in this whole movie
This is my favorite Batman movie. It’s the best origin movie imo. I hate The Dark Knight Rises though
Yknow whats really interesting? We have this movie to thank for giving us the arkham series.
1 dark night rises
2 dark Knight
3 Batman begins
its supposed to be pronounced "ray-sh" al ghul but a lot of mediums switch between the two pronunciations, so go with whatever i suppose.
The Arkham games specifically go with "Raysh"
There's also a scene in Batman Beyond where Terry says "Raas," and is corrected to "Raysh."
It's not who you are, but what you do that defines you. That really stuck with me
Real first time? Bro you missed on something!
One thing I like about this trilogy is that each film has a different theme and its villains in each movie reflect it also. Batman Begins is about Fear, The Dark Knight is about Chaos, and The Dark Knight Rises is about Pain.
Rarely comment on anything but I really appreciated the lofi-vibe new era Batman music when you began discussing Matt reeves batman around 10 minutes
People disliking Ang Lee’s Hulk is not the result of some defect or lack of maturity in the audience. There are lots of things that make it difficult to enjoy and prevent it from resonating with people.
Not saying people shouldn’t enjoy it or try to make the case for it, but implicitly or explicitly blaming the audience for not liking it is lazy, self-congratulatory, teenager nonsense.
"Is this a black sheep film?".
No Matty. It's a Batman one
@@kennypowers1945 That's crazy imo as I thought it was widely regarded as superior to Rises(when you get past all the hype of that following the Dark Knight, and weigh up the trilogy objectively), and some even have it as their favorite of the trilogy. It's very underrated imo
As a gamer and film lover.. How have you never seen these films 🤔glad to see your filling gaps that need filling 😎
I rewatched Batman Begins not too long ago and was pleasantly surprised. I love how it’s a good mix between original ideas and comic book ideas. Above all else it feels like a true movie. Also love how you mentioned the fear version of Batman. I feel like that scene doesn’t get mentioned enough but it was a real standout when I watched it.
Yeah the movie got his name wrong
This is a better film then Dark knight Rises imo. And I wasn’t one of the fans who walked out of theatre’s shitting all over it, I just think from a structural standpoint and it’s effective origin story really hit it out of the park. Begins has better pacing and an under rated set of villains that are overshadowed by the joker and bane on some levels. I didn’t hate bane in rises, but I do feel scarecrow and Raas Al ghoul were better overall portrayals, I like Hardy as bane but I have my issues. The grounded take on him works for the trilogy tonally speaking and it was memorable. If it weren’t for the villains in begins being underutilized and over shadowed by expectations the second film set. A Batman movie dealing with fear, how it can be used in a negative Vs. Positive light. thematically is such a match made in heaven for a villain like scarecrow. Agreed they should’ve given them more screen time, but I get it helps set up the world.
This movie made me want to be Batman. I left the theater the 1st time just amped. And yes, Liam Neeson had some of the best lines in the movie. So much character development for Bruce & Bale was at his best as Batman in this film. His chemistry with Michael Caine, Gary Oldman & Morgan Freeman was excellent. Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard COOKED! Their score was fantastic. My only gripe with the film is the way the fight scenes are shot & edited. If they were done better, this movie would be perfect in my eyes. This movie is criminally underrated, though. When you see the comic book inspirations for this movie, they pulled from classic stories. Definitely one of my favorites.
Honestly, Begins is my favorite of the trilogy. Can’t believe you’ve just now gotten around to it.
Hey Matty if you really liked the portrayal of the Riddler in the new Batman movie you may be interested to know that the actor that played him, Paul Dano, wrote a prequel mini series about that Riddler. Pretty sure it’s called Riddler:Year One and probably has a Trade Paperback collection out by now.
I'm not positive on begins but Jonathan Nolan, Christopher Nolan's brother writes on most of his projects. He also wrote HBO's Westworld and the new Fallout series.
Fun Fact: This movie was when they were still making the batsuit in a way where the actor could not turn their head due to the way the cowl was made which is why the action scenes look stiff. The suit seen in the next movies was designed to allow for more freedom of movement which is why their action scenes look better.
This is my fave of the bunch, Ras is my fave batsy villain and this one is the most rewatchable for me.
I will always say that Batman begins is my favorite of the Nolan trilogy
Begins is a great movie. Loved both Liam Neeson and Cillian Movie in it.
Saw this stoned at the movies when it came out. Veerrry coool
How have never batman begins???
The best Batman film in my opinion.
Wow, your presentation is so good!
Cillian Murphy's scarecrow is so much better than the comic book scarecrow
thats...debatable. Very
@@Joshcoshbagosh Glad its an opinion. But hey The movie was good enough to spark a fire for Both Batman Movies and Murphy's career.
Now those are facts.
I admit this is a nitpick but Christian Bale’s terrible voice kind of ruins these movies for me. Just can’t take them very seriously.
I can’t stand the Nolan Batman movies, they are TERRIBLE Batman movies and okay at best hero movies. Too realistic and not enough Batman comic wackiness, the Arkham games/80s and 90s Batman movies handled all that a lot better. Sadly WB will just keep rebooting Batman and others cause they never find one that works or has staying power like the MCU does for most of their heroes
Yikes. Batman begins literally changed superhero movies, it was an actual great movie that wasn’t goofy like Spider-Man or x men. Batman comics doesn’t need stupid wackiness, go to marvel for that shit.
Begins is an incredible film. They weee never meant to be cheesy comic movies they were REAL drama movies with Batman, and that’s why their better then 95% of superhero movies.
You can say you prefer wacky Batman, but this is a wiiiiild take
“Terrible Batman movies and okay at best hero movies” contrarian take for contrarian sake. There’s a reason they are beloved films. It’s okay to have a preference but don’t speak on objective quality of subjective media
Hahaha what an L take
@@barkley8285nah i definitely prefer the Xmen, Spiderman and marvel movies in general lol
