Did you know Studio Avi Arad interfered Sam vision put Venom in because Sam doesn't know Venom but Avi Arad pushed him to do it Sam said something like he tried to make it work it didn't go well Sam was unhappy how he made Spider-Man 3 and decided not to make Spider-Man 4 2011 Sam just had creative control with Spider-Man 3 like he did with the first and second it would have been awesome then Sam would have made Spider-Man 4 2011 In Spider-Man 3 Sam wanted Sandman and Harry Osborne is the new Goblin
The thing about the dance... if a dorky nerd suddenly became a badass, this is exactly what would happen. In the DVD commentary they were laughing at it too.
Spider man 3 super underrated. I know it might be the nostalgia factor but I saw this one and 2 in theaters but ultimately this one really just hit different. The mix of humor, emotion and action really did it for me
You should have watched the Editor's Cut. They cut out the butler scene with an alternate scene. They also changed around some of the scenes for pacing. Imo, the Editor's Cut, is the superior version.
Personally i'm glad venom was in this movie. This film literally introduced me to him and the whole black spider-man plot when i was kid, which i was obsessed with for years. I just think they shoulda been given at least a year longer of production time to smooth out cgi and script, plus made it a 3 hour long movie, and it woulda been perfect. And maybe sam raimi shoulda found another director/producer whos more passionate about the character to help him make the movie
The design of Venom was what was bad, not the CGI for him. Should’ve looked like Hardy’s Venom and not had his mask peeled back so much. Nobody wants to be reminded that it’s Topher Grace under there lol
I LOVE Spiderman 3. Now that we have the multiverse as a thing in marvel movies I don’t mind this version of venom. Because it’s just one of many, same goes for Tom Hardy’s version.
the black suit symbiote is awesome I love when he goes swinging and he says the power feels good and the music when he wakes up on the building. That was my fav part of the movie
I remember seeing Spiderman 3 in theaters back in the day and leaving thinking how much it sucked , even back then as a teenager i hated how Venom wasnt buff like he was in the animated series. The entire plot and feel of the movie always felt off to me. I wish raimi would have gotten to just make his sandman movie , im sure with enough time and studying he could have gave us venom in spiderman 4 and gave him justice.
AWESOME REVIEW - saw this on my 13th birthday and it’s still a beautiful memory of mine. I like the movie more than most, but you highlighted all the shortcomings & high points so well.
I was fortunate enough to see a screening of this movie and left feeling a little conflicted. Time has definitely altered my opinion of it. In the context of the trilogy, it really works. Shame we never got to see a 4th installment. Ive been taking my wife and kids to the rereleases in theaters and I’m way more excited for 3 after watching 2 this week. I’m sure my kids will love it!
I hated Spider-Man 3 when it was first released. I wanted Spider-Man 2 again but with Venom. And it just wasn’t that. I also hated Sandman as a villain and thought he was lame. Years later, I love the film. Obviously 2 and 1 are the best, but 3 is so undeniably entertaining. It is its own thing and every time I watch it I’m never bored, and I’m engrossed in every scene whether it be laughing or enjoying the still consistent notes of intensity that Raimi is able to build. The score is still great in this film… J. Jonah Jameson is still awesome in all his scenes (and I love that we see more of him here)... The emotional plot developments are done well... And I’ve really grown to love all the ironically campy cheese throughout. It’s obviously intentional and it’s just grown on me. I’ll still watch Spider-Man 3 over all the Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland movies any day of the week lol
Your write in is incorrect. They "understand the Star Wars Prequels are bad." Nah, just like Spider-Man 3, they are overly hated for the dumbest reasons.
I've always loved Spider-Man 3 and never understand why people used to (or still do) hate it. Sure, it's quite campy but I really dig its atmosphere and the ending always hits me right in the heart. There will never be a better Harry Osborn than James Franco. Oh, I almost forgot! The Sandman "birth" scene is just masterpiece. The music that plays during it is just amazing!
The studio interference was legendary on this film. That being said, I honestly still don't get the hate. It has it's issues, but it's still on par for me with Spider-Man 1.
Spider-Man 2 set up Black suit Spidey with John Jameson the astronaut. Should've brought it back on the shuttle like in the TV show in Spider-Man 3. Should've been Black suit Spidey vs whoever Raimi wanted to use and just have Eddie Brock get the suit at the end.
I can get you a cut of spiderman 3 cut that will make you completely see it through another lense. It has no uncle ben subplot, and makes far more sense narratively.
This movie has some really good fight scenes, like when Pete fights Harry without the suit and the one with Sandman in the subway. The movie was a bit of a disappointment for me because 2nd was just so great.
I just watched it a few days ago for the first time myself and I thought it was okay, but it could've been better and nowhere near as good as the first two Tobey Maguire films, but mind you, the performance by Thomas Haden Church as the Sandman made it enough for me to like it.
I have to disagree on the film not executing on the themes of forgiveness and revenge well. I think this movie executes those things so well, especially when you compare it to other media that try to incorporate those themes, like the Last of Us Part 2, but fails to execute convincingly. Peter’s arrogance b4 the black suit, while may be a stretch to believe in given the other 2 films, works for me. He’s oblivious to a lot of it, which makes scenes like the Sandman forgiveness hit so much harder bc he realizes all the terrible things he’s done. Hurting MJ, and scaring Harry’s face. I will say the deleted scene of Harry looking at a broken picture of him Peter and MJ works SO MUCH BETTER than the butler scene they included in the film. Bc then it plays into the forgiveness theme even more by making it that Harry has to accept Peter ‘killed’ his dad, and still decide to help him anyways. I recommend you give that scene a watch. It can be found on TH-cam
While Venom and the Black Suit are the highlights of the movie for me, I do wish they weren't in the movie. If I had a time machine here's what I'd do. Tell the bozo that told Sam Raimi to force in Venom to shut-it and let the creative do what he does best. Then I would turn to Raimi and say... "There's this character Venom that people love, and it would be great to set him up in the background of this movie". Here's I'd hope the movie would now play out... Introduce Eddie Brock, and have him form a rivalry with Peter, but don't really show too many signs of resentment. Still have Harry become the New Goblin, but don't introduce him until the later half of the Movie where Peter can fend him off. Alternatively the New Goblin could be a character that occasionally shows up throughout the movie and kinda fills the role of Anti-Hero. The New Goblin would be saving people, and beating up bad guys, but he'd be a bit more rough about it, and constantly make it known that he hates Spider-Man. Then, by the end of the movie Peter could learn who he is(have a similar battle to their battle at the start of Spider-Man 3), ending with Peter unmasking him. Have the same Sandman Arc, and make him the main Villain of the movie(could even have Harry go a round or 2 with him if Raimi went the Anti-Hero Arc). No Black Suit(just have Peter struggle with his emotions a bit). No kissing Gwen(Gwen could be interested in Peter/Spider-Man, but don't have Peter lean into it). If Post-Credit Scenes were the norm at this time, this when I'd say the introduction of Venom would be best done, but since it's not, that's how the next movie could start. I'll try be quick with Spider-Man 4... **edit...I was not** Movie opens up in the same scene in our Spider-Man 3 with Venom landing on Earth, and hitching a ride of Peters Vehicle(or just tracking him down). Peter & MJ visit Harry in the Hospital, because he's either just woken up, or is getting discharged(has amnesia just like in our Spider-Man 3). Eddie gets promoted. MJ's show isn't doing too hot. Peter still has apartment issues(introduced in the new Spider-Man 3, but worse in this movie(unless he's moved in with MJ at this point, then just skip over it)). A villain is introduced(maybe a smaller one like Shocker that can be reasonably dealt with in a few minutes). Afterwards Peter thinking back to his past foes(potentially brought on by something Shocker says, or does(like getting away and hurting people during his escape)). Peter still doesn't feel great knowing that he killed the wrong man, and that he hurt Harry(even though it was in self defense). He'd also be thinking about how he wasn't able to save Norman or Otto(like he said in No Way Home, which is something he'd definitely be thinking about). Then he could have a fight with MJ(could just be an argument about him focusing too much on being Spider-Man, or him just not being around enough, IDK), which leads to him going back to his apartment where the Symbiote finally attaches to him. This all leads into our Black Suit Spider-Man and Bully Maguire Saga, which should realistically only last until the end of Act 2. During his Black Suit shenanigans he'd probably face off against whatever the smaller villain he fought earlier again, and just go to town on them. Then Eddie can start to show his signs of resentment. Harry can regain his memories, and get pissed again. Peter Battles Harry(it's very one sided). Harry sulks for a while. MJ can be all like "I don't even know who you are anymore". Peter realizing that he's hurt Harry again, and is about to lose MJ decides to go to the Church where he gets the Symbiote off(potentially during his fight with shocker he got hit with one of the Sound Blasts, and realized that the Symbiote didn't like it). Venom is born(Eddie was there as well probably trying to get pictures of Spider-Man), and starts doing bad things while somewhat looking like Spider-Man which leads to Peter confronting him. Peter gets bodied, but manages to get away. Peter meets up with MJ, and says he's sorry, but better now. Venom starts causing more mayhem so Peter tries to leave again. MJ tries to stop him, but he starts to head out anyways. MJ goes to Harry for help in fixing Peter after she talks with Dr. Connors, and learns what the Symbiote is. Harry says no, and continues to sulk. MJ says something on her way out that hits Harry deep. Peter finally finds Venom again. Harry has the talk with his butler, but it's far more fleshed out, and not rushed like in our Spider-Man 3. Harry shows up to save the day. Peter and Harry gang up on Venom. Harry dies. Peter bodies Venom in a similar way as in our Spider-Man 3. The End. Similar story beats, but with a little less cringe, and more fleshed out. *also not with 3 "major"(if you wanna call Harry that)threats*
It make so much sense that he didn't want to include Venom in this movie! The movies were already the best! I wish this trilogy would have gotten a better conclusion :(
I just finished a rewatch of all of them and thought they were all great. Raimi did the best you could have hoped for with all the meddling, and made it work. But I have a question. Did you lose a roll hundred dollar bills wrapped in a rubber band? Because I've got good news for you.
I liked this movie but it clearly wasn’t as good as 1 and 2. The not knowing Venom came off for sure as well. I always felt like I was watching Carnage in a black suit.
“Give the fans what they want stop picking your favorites” bro Green Goblin and Doc Ock are two of his most popular villains 💀 I get the sentiment, as a fan I want do Venom, however I’d rather have a good movie. Sandman would’ve been a great villain on his own. These rich guys making all the decisions swear they know what we want as fans, but end up botching it everytime.
Yo, one thing that o find really annoying about the critics of this film is the hate towards MJ She is not abnoxious because she loses her part and spiderman is enjoying his fame. I’m loving the channel but please don’t rely on Marvel and Star Wars content too much. There are already so many channels that focus on those IP’s and it misses on what in my opinion makes this channel so special (a guy watching iconic movies for the first time).
Our apologies! Had to reupload this one, since we put up the unlisted version too soon. All good now

The thing about the dance... if a dorky nerd suddenly became a badass, this is exactly what would happen. In the DVD commentary they were laughing at it too.
Exactly! So many people think it's cringe, but it's actually brilliantly thought out and executed. Exactly the way it would in reality.
That’s exactly what it’s supposed to be. Like you said, it’s Peter Parker’s version of what he thinks is “looking cool” not what the public thinks.
*Now dig on thissss...* 😂😂🕺🏾🕺🏾
I've grown to love Spider-Man 3 over time man
Me too absolutely
If you don't give it an 11/10 then i'll put some dirt in your eye
Spider man 3 super underrated. I know it might be the nostalgia factor but I saw this one and 2 in theaters but ultimately this one really just hit different. The mix of humor, emotion and action really did it for me

Agree
They gotta give us Flash at some point.
I actually really like this movie. It's not as good as the first 2 but it's still amazing!
Great review as always, Matty!

Saw in a previous video that you're now reading Berserk. Looking forward to the video about it when you're finally finished.

I’ll be back next Monday lol.
Lmao wtf how did I just now find out he was Eric from that’s 70s show. It’s the hair I guess 😂
LMAO, this had me laughing 8:10 😂
Any chance you could review all the X-Men movies before deadpool and wolverine comes out
There is a 2-disc special edition DVD of Spider-Man 3
No wonder I couldn't find this video again lol
Bully Matt-guire deleted the video so they had to reupload
Please tell me you're gonna cover the Amazing Spider-Man films in the future!?!??!
I haven't even seen them yet myself and I will watch them when I feel the time is right.
I love this movie, really all three of them, but this movie is awesome. It’s so funny how corny it is at times but this movie rules.

As hilarious as this movie is, Peter forgiving sandman really is a beautiful scene. When my gf saw it for the first time she cried
Why would mj think it’s cool he did their kiss bruh 😂

He forced him to put Venom just so he could sell more toys

Just like the first two movies, this one is best to watch when NOT in HD. HD brings out the cgi flaws. Score for DVD
This movie is disliked because it has a bad script. Too many things happen. There are too many characters.
