Just to start off this is my first video im watching of yours and man oh man I love your energy! Thank you for the tips, have my first track day coming up soon and just trying to work on foot, hand, & head position as much as possible before heading in! 🚀 STAY HYPE MY MAN
When I finally learned to use my heel and bottom of the outer foot to hook the peg cornering became so much more enjoyable! Best tip out there for sure
Same here, at the beginning i was putting the outside foot in the same position as the inside one, learnt to position my feet properly and felt way safer and enjoyed way more cornering(maybe the track itself(motorland aragon) had some influence on that too hahaha)
Josh has one of the most natural racing styles in the sport. he’s a great rider and a very cool guy with a great deal of experience and he can explain how to use your body to get the best from the bike
tthis foot positioning tip is very key , forces all your body down on the bike giveing yourself more traction especially during cornering, to be honest it felt like the bike was alot more controled and planted to the ground during corners, gives you the confidence to push just a little more in corners
@@joshherrin hi there yes and no, i first came across this tip in a different video, but this video was able to give me a little more details, thanks for the tips man
Josh you came to the dealership I was managing back in 2008 Yamaha 99. It’s been cool watching you progress as a racer since then. I was impressed how nice and down to earth you where back then. Keep puttin in that work on track!
I recorded my ride with the same camera angle as yours and found out i'm not doing such a bad job as i thought. I see that i need to work on sicane corners. The way you move your feet so quickly is something i need to practise to achieve. Thanks again for the video Josh!
A racing line video would be great if you haven’t already done that! Maybe an actual track layout with your preferred line choice. Thanks for the content!
i have a question..and maybe next video..i work at cyclegear (hasbrouck hights whoop whoop) and i hear alot of people crashing is when there breaking!.. (mostly new riders) i try to give them my tips " go to parking lot prctice ..initial the brake and then starts slowly pressing harder and harder till you find your limit or the bikes limit so your are fimilare with how to break in a emergency situation"or if your at a track.. i hear alot of my customers go down beacuse they are useing the rear brake ( tail slides out and they high side) or just slamming on the front brake ( low side) my question is am i coaching them correctly and if you make a video i can refer them to your video to better educate them and everyone else on 2 wheel!.. thank josh keep up the good work and congratulations! on your win at cota cant wait to see you race this weekend good luck bud!
You mean I got to take off the Go-Pro mount off the top of my tank! I already put back on my left rear passenger peg for more turn in weight! And I had all the people standing around me all pissed off because I was constantly revving the engine! Dude I was LMAO when you said all these things... because I new some racers were heeding that advice!
I loved the video. The mucking around was fun but the foot tips were excellent. I now know what I am doing is right and what my mate is telling me is wrong.
I like how you got Ben to roll around on cam for you. You seem fun. I'm going to totally awkwardly say hi to you when you're at Jersey. I was there Saturday of last year, dude you were absolutely nuts in the wet. A+++ would spectate again.
Bro your unreal and down to earth man I’m from the U.K. you should visit one time and tear up the Streets. ✌🏻 good luck this year you got it #lightwerrrkkkk
Great video josh! I’ve been following you for a long time. Your a sick rider & a super cool dude! Keep it up man love the videos. You’re making all us average riders a little better. Thanks again! 👍
Two years late but this video was fucking great. Been riding for about 6 years but just recently have gotten into motosport and racing, actaully just saw you at VIR a couple weeks ago. Anyway, this taught me a lot and really can't wait to take this new knowledge out on the track/road. Seems so simple but its like a "duh" moment when you see where you're making mistakes. Thanks Josh and keep on keepin on! 👍🏻🤙🏼
Oh and congrats on that last win my friend, the wife and I was watching with crossed fingers after Tony had that downshift problem and you blasted by ..... you could easily see what that win meant to you through the tv screen
Josh Herrin I’ll be tuned in for sure, been a fan for a while! I saw you win in person at Barber on a 600 a loooong time ago.. what probably 2007 or 2008??? I want a stand up Rossi style wheelie if you win at VIR , much love from SE Tennessee
Went to motoamerica at sonoma raceway and was rooting for ya josh awesome riding by the way, good to see the tips i ride on the balls of the feet like you say just may have been hangin the toes out a little too far...gotta get my tuono to the track and let er rip. Be safe bro keep the rubber side down and good luck
Another awesome vid. Your outside foot seems to pivot-out more on the left than right side. Wonder why... Can you do a video on how you map out your breaking points on the track? Do you pick spots on the track to tell you where to brake? Do you prefer to brake late?
How about foot weight distribution? Do you put more weight on inside or outside pegs? Or equal? Does weight distribution change on corner entry, mid, and exit?
Personally I find that I have most of my weight on the inside peg, you can also see in the video that in a tighter corner he lifts his outside foot completely off of the peg. I would assume the weight distribution gradually increases on corner entry and then equalizes on exit
Butterflies aren’t too bad. Dragonflies are waaaay worse and their guts stick like sap. Great tips about being on your toes and opening your chest to the turn.
Great video Josh. I really like the relaxed attitude toward getting the job done. Keep up the strong work. Perhaps some insight on how one can approach braking later into the corner. thanks again.
Come ride with P.R.E. if you ever do some track days in NC. And give me all these on track tips. Ha. Good luck at VIR this weekend. I’ll be at the top of the roller coaster.

Josh Herrin Totally agree with you on this.... love the bike.... seen one last week in person and lord it was beautiful.... rider had a ton of nice work done to it.... he said he paid 22k for it..... to rich for my blood, but when you got it you got it ! Lol

Does it matter if you’re all up on the tank? For straightaways it could be better to help keep the front down but what about turns? Do you shift weight forward backward at all or is it mostly determined as a result of your wrist/foot position? I guess just in general talking about body position in terms of forward and back would be cool to hear.
Good info! IMHO a bunch of hard core track day tips will get you a bunch of new subscribers then you can start doing more fun(for you) vids.. good luck with the channel---I love it. PS i still want to see you race some motoamerica guys on the mini bikes.

Great tips Josh. Have you tried out Troy Corsers foot technique? Instead of standing on his toes, he shoves his foot all the way to the inside of the peg and slightly behind the ball of his feet. He then leans on the side of his foot for getting the knee out. That way you don't have to move the foot as much and it will make you very stable on the bike. The technique works for some and not for others. Very dependent on how you are built. For me, his technique works great and makes me way more stable on the bike. I have short ass legs. They barely reach the outside peg. On any bike. With the Rearsets adjusted all the way up. If I hit a bump, mid-corner, I'll lose grip on my outside peg.

Just stumbled on your videos. Have you or will you do a vid on rearset and shift lever position for track riding?
Dude I love your videos. Please do one on braking - like backing it into a corner kinda braking ;)
Backing it on is done on the downshift. Just hammer down the gears, breaking traction to the rear. Super motos may vary.
