SOME CORRECTIONS:
1. Clock Tower is getting a release this year!
2. Luigi's Mansion definitely came out in the west.
This was one of the most fun I had making videos in a bit so there's plenty more to come, thanks for watching!
The Luigi’s mansion arcade game released in the US too
Yup! My mistake for blindly following the list, thanks for correcting. I've never seen one outside of Japan but apparently it's not even uncommon lol
@@4amLaundry I know I saw it here in Bulgaria once. However it's no longer at the arcade, so I guess they got rid of it.
Also, other Nintendo arcade games are released in Europe too. I've seen quite a few Mario Kart machines.
Great video - gives you some unique titles to look out for and you including the box shots really helps. Thanks for all the info!
Fun Video 4amLaundry, hope you had fun making it!
I'm excited to play with my Barcode boy(complete with battle space) and I also have a boxed Barcode Taisen Bardigun for the Gameboy colour (which has probably the biggest GBC box)... which is till to be unboxed, (only have like 4 unboxing videos worth of boxes left so it'll be soon!!).
Keep 'em coming, I've been enjoying them! Def looking forward to the Barcade Boy!
Great vid, was really interesting! Had no idea that Tingle was so popular haha
Apparently! I never realized his games were mostnly Japan exclusive either
Japan only video games are one of the main reasons I started learning Japanese, so this hits close to home
You'd love the rest of the channel then ;)
Well done! I liked this very much!
Thanks for giving it a shot!
I loved this. Thanks pim 🔥
Thanks for giving it a shot :)
DUDE that samurai champloo poster is amazing... what's the story on that?
Completely random find, it's actually for the Soundtrack's release which makes it even more special imo
Was literally like 3 dollars
wow I didn't know the first Clocktower game was on SNES I feel like I am in another dimension thanks for the video man very well done
Thanks! Yeah I've never played the SNES one do hyped for the re-release.
A few things you left out clock tower snes is getting rereleased by wayforward and Luigi mansion is kinda available in the West or at least in English it's pretty popular in Italian bowling alleys.
Other then that really nice pace and edition
I love how early on with the Web taking off -- you'd see screenshots or edits and just didn't believe people about some of these games. Or there would just be tons and tons of threads and speculation about what different characters, worlds, etc were.
I wonder, too, if some of these never made it over because they didn't want to risk flooding a growing western market. Had the gaming crash in the 80s - if suddenly the market was flooded again wonder if it would have kicked off another. Give room for western devs to get a foothold in the industry or something. Idk lol.
That Tetris 64 one is bonkers. That's such a unique gameplay idea -- have it get more intense when your heart rate goes up (or slows down). Imagine that but with horror games or something. Hrmm.
The barcode thing is super neat. I remember we had something over here called like Scannerz where you could scan barcodes and get digimon type monsters.
The rumors and little pictures (like the biref mention of the Barcode Boy in Nintendo Power) were so exciting back in the day lol. We just kinda forgot and had no way of verifying.
I think, compared to today, the cost of translating games was a lot more back then so they were picky to choose what went overseas.
Damn I love ice burg videos 😊
I really liked making this so thanks for watching
Damn, so many games I didn't even know existed! Thanks for sharing this
Same! Thanks for watching, was super fun to make.
clock tower is coming to the west thanks to wayforward and Limited run games
Barcode boy for Nintendo, wauw! Never know it was there!
Same here!
Densha de Go! 64 is a train simulator that came with it's own special throttle controller, and also the Voice Recognition Unit, like "Hey You, Pikachu!" used. It was on an episode of Game Center CX, and has a fan translation.
Like Pokemon Red & Green, the first version of Pokemon Stadium did not get a western release. Japan's Pokemon Stadium 2 is the west's Pokemon Stadium 1, and so on.
And here's a fishing game starring Mother/Earthbound creator Shigesato Itoi that was released on the Super Famicom, Satellaview, and Nintendo 64. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itoi_Shigesato_no_Bass_Tsuri_No._1
Great additions, thanks! All noted for the "definitive" one haha
i'd love to see a deep dive on all the train simulation games, but i know they get expensive so who knows.
That would be fun but even with the Japan-only ones it'd be so expensive lol
Wry informative video but did native notice the layers went out of sync?
The tv would show a layer live layer 7 and then when it cuts back to show layer 8 but there didn’t seem to be a mention of it and jumped to layer 9
Finally the 'took a lot of effort to create' content we deserve
Imagine putting in effort
So cool
