Excellent video! Thanks very much! Just got a seal leak on mine and thought I'd have to remove all the front body tupperware! Huge time saver.

Good thing you mentioned how the springs are set! I took mine apart and someone had actually put them in upside down...and there is VERY little fluid in then, even the one that was not leaking...someone sure messed up!!! Whoa!! so THANK YOU for doing this video. I could not take mine apart due to how tight they put on the shocks...way over set!! So, now I have mine alllll apart...sheesh. I can check the rad at the same time however, so, that was the good part...!LOL Cheers and thanks again!!

A fantastic video full of great tips and information, thanks so much for posting and I couldn't have done the job without your help and advice!!! I would say that from my own experience it was much easier to remove the caps off the top of the forks by going down from the top of the bike by removing the windshield, blinker housing and instrument cluster, all done quickly and easily- vids on how to do this can be found on yt. You need a long extension bar on your ratchet to reach them from the top, but it was much easier for me to do it this way. I did make an attempt with your suggestion of going from underneath, but found the tight working space and the caps being screwed on so strongly I couldn't budge them. Also, I found that the hex bolts at the bottom of the forks need to be removed BEFORE you take the caps off, as the springs compress on the hex bolt enabling it to be removed more easily without spinning (have a container handy to catch the oil). An impact gun will need to be used as otherwise the mechanism just turns inside the forks. So an impact gun is pretty essential. Just some info for others who may want to tackle the job. Thanks again, much appreciated.

You are welcome. Yes I have run into this issue of the bottom bolt getting stuck on other fork
models. Without having the fork damping rod tool I would compress the fork with a ratchet strap (dangerous do not attempt) then get the bolt out. I had one that was stripped once......Ill post that nightmare of a video someday. Thanks for watching!

You sir, are a clever mechanic. I took one look at the fork cap on a Majesty and thought "ummm....why did they put a hex fork cap in a spot with basically zero clearance to remove it?"

I was going to ask how you kept the bike from flipping forward when you removed the front tire -- then I rewound the video to the beginning -- you rule!!!

would it be easier to lock the steering wheel when putting on the wheel? that way you don't have to fiddle with the movement? Not sure, gonna try ...lol Not sure if it only locks on a tilt or not...sigh.

Very well done and with all necessary steps included. I'm just getting ready to replace my leaky seals and am missing two pieces of info: The tool you used to put the oil seal back in and the amount/viscosity of the oil. I can get the oil info from the manual, but some kind of pointer on the tool would help, especially if it's a DIY thing.

Thank you for watching my video. The tool that I used is called a fork seal installer that I purchased on Amazon. No sure why I did not add it to the video. I apologize for that.

Hi. With the damper rod in place, there seems to be insufficient room to slide the fork spring into the inner tube. You haven't shown that in your video. What have I missed? Any help would greatly appreciated. Cheers David

Did you make the 17mm allen stubby in the beginning by sawing an allen wrench?

Ok, so I did as shown however on mine, even with the spring back in I can't get the screw to undo. It still turns without coming undone! How do I get the darn screw out now? I see there is a tool bot gosh sakes this should have worked!!:(Any ideas out there please? Heat?? I drained put the oil and have it ready but can't get the bottom screw out...at all. I have had others try too without luck so it's not just me! Lol thanks!!:) also, why do u have to undo the bottom if you just pull the stem to get out the seal? Not clear on that point. ?

Hi, I have not watched this video nor had my hands on a YP400 in years. However, if what you are describing is what I think it is sometimes it requires pressure on the fork leg to get the screw to turn and not the entire leg. Essentially use the force of the spring to hold the tube in place while you back the screw out. Ill be honest with you I generally use an impact gun to achieve this while the forks are on the bench at least.

Also just so happens next week I will be replacing a belt on one of these units and I can look closer at it again in person.

If you don't have a tool, I see 2 methods of putting on the seal. One with electrical tape. Tape a row of it around the tube about 6 inches up to just under the diameter of the tube and use that to tap in the seal. Or you can cut an inch off the old seal and use that to tap in the new seal. Anyway, so far people find the tape to be the most helpful. I will let you know! I can't afford 100 bucks here for the seal piece to use maybe one more time...yup, too expensive!
