  • We visit a legendary seafood restaurant in Riviera that's been reeling in Texans from all over the state.

This is my favorite seafood restaurant. We go from Mission Tx to Riviera just for this place. Breading is very light and shrimp are huge. Fish is also great. Other places put very heavy breading on their shrimp and takes the place of the shrimp. Here, shrimp is what you taste. And their tarter sauce is like no other. Goes great not just with seafood but we like it better on the huge slices of tomatoes that you get as a side dish. Also order the avocado salad. Now I'm hungry for shrimp. Guess we are going to Riviera this week.

I grew up in Kleberg county between Kingsville and Riviera. The building that Kings Inn is in started out as a dancehall. Mrs. Ware bought the building and transformed it. I can remember when the window air conditioners couldn’t keep up and you’d sweat through your meal. But it’s the best shrimp and onion rings I’ve ever eaten. The secret to their great taste is sweet and condensed milk in the batter. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve eaten there. Occasionally my wife and I will drive over from Rockport, but we have some of the best seafood restaurants in Texas, right here in Rockport.

I love this place. I remember the the time my parents took visiting relatives from Pennsylvania there. They loved it.

Not gonna lie! I worked in the area and stopped by with my work crew. Some of the worst food and service I've ever had! There is waaaayyyy better than this out there that's for sure!

Great story! Love drum; to me it's better than redfish if it's slot.

Oh my Gosh!!! I wish it wasn't so far away! You haven't had REAL SEAFOOD until you go to King's Inn. I have the secret recipe for the homemade tarter sauce. But I will keep it a SECRET always!! It will go to the grave with me because I still have so much respect for the Old Lady who used to own & run this amazing restaurant. Remove your hat as you walk in the door...she wouldn't tolerate that!!

I was born in Kingsville in 74 and lived there until I was 12. My dad would take our family to King's Inn at least every month often on Saturday nights with other families. I think I was about 7 the first time I went there. Just piles of food^^ I still have cravings for fried clams and oysters, my childhood faves. I also loved that vinegarette on that simple avocado salad.

Was one of our favorite places to go .....Till.....one evening it was a little busy we were waiting for quit a while and they seated a few parties that arrived after us as I was inquiring what was the reason for this, the lady in this video that is sitting at the register in the Black and White blouse, walked up and very rudely said "If you don't like it you can take your Damn Family somewhere else"....an older couple that was standing next to me asked her if she was serious and she said they could leave also....

I love the food but they have something against Hispanics, at least it feels that way. It’s like our dollar is worthless. I’m not the only one that has felt this way either. Multiple people I know that are Hispanics all feel unwelcomed there. Hopefully that has changed since the last time I was there 5-6 years ago. I miss the food but not the treatment.

There is a name error here. The well known South Texas gentleman/spokesman is William Henry Bynum (aka Hank or Henry Bynum) and his lovely wife of 57 years seated beside him is Joyce. The only Randy in the video is Randy Ware, the hard working owner.
The food is very fresh, simply prepared and delicious. It is served family style, i.e. big honkin' plates full in the middle of the table. Service is always with a smile. The ambiance - fun and very South Texas casual.

It's closer to Ricardo or Riviera, bro. I can tell you're not from around these parts.

Not as great as I was told it would be; very slow service, dirty, and expensive. The food is just okay, heavily saturated in oil. I was not impressed. The atmosphere is like they don't want to invest in improvements and the bathrooms are gross. The staff appear to hate their jobs. The place is in desperate need of a deep cleaning and renovations! Flies are a problem here! There were 7 dead flies on the bench in the dirty waiting area. Then I had to constantly swat away 2 flies. I had the avocado salad, fried shrimp, hushpuppies and onion rings. The avocado salad was cut-up lettuce, thick tomato slices, and avocado on top with a bunch of lemon juice! Not sure what all the hype is about. When my salad came, I also got a side of what appeared to be some type of potato salad, but realized it's their version of a style different tarter sauce. The fried shrimp is ok but not worth me driving 2 hours. NOTE: None of the "fresh fish" comes from Baffin Bay, so says the staff.

An interesting place, and nice people, but I'm sorry.....that water was scary and nasty AF! Being from Hawaii, maybe I'm spoiled on crystal clear, blue water, but there's no way I'd get near that nasty water, or eat anything that came out of it.

Talk about overrated, if you like mediocre seafood and mashed potato style tartar sauce this the place for you! Rockport has waaaay better seafood!
