My dad was a cowboy on the King ranch back in the late 1940's. He left to join the Marines and fought in the Korean War. We re-visited the ranch in about 1977. The older lady at the main house there remembered my dad, he'd backed up and crushed the tailgate of the ranch's new pick up back then She was the ranch owners wife when dad had worked/lived there. Dad worshiped that lady and had stayed in touch with her thru letters during his tour in Korea.
