annoying to see all of these american car fans going, "oh its just a 45k golf!!!! so ugly!!!!" this car is the exact opposite of those things. this car has great style, is cheap, and very luxurious. sorry if its not good enough for those driving around in solid gold lambo's...
Micah, your reviews rock. Funny and informative. Also I like how you keep it real, you're not the typical snobby snarky reviewer. Keep up the good work homeslice.
Another great review, out of all the reviewers on YT, you are the best. Funny, informative, great close ups, and driving footages, what else can we ask for?
Modern Culture you can daily drive it! I use mines for work, school, and go out a lot & no problems. Audi is super reliable, I even got mines certified pre owned with 37,000 miles on it for a great price!
Chris Sanchez if you don’t mind me asking, how old are you? And how do you manage to pay for it? I’m looking at certified used too but I make my money from delivering food so I’m not sure if I could afford it and put miles on the car. Also what year and type is it? Did you buy it fully or finance it ?
Modern Culture I’m 22 with a full time job. I got mines for $25,000 , it’s a black Audi A3 2016 Premium Plus Quattro Sedan with more upgrades. Excellent condition. I’m financing it, I put a $5000 down payment and my monthly payments are $400 with dealership warranty.
A thoroughly beautiful car. Another prospective option to consider: the 2015 VW Golf GTI (5-Door), (especially a GTI enhanced with the Performance Pack), which is based on the very same MQB platform as the A3.
I agree with the comment "just stay in the front." not much space in the rear for passengers, but was surprised at the driver space. Driving it today as a loaner. Suspension and engine power is nice, but still its lacking comfortability in my opinion. The retro air vents are nice.
I'm the right size for this car. I'll wait for the S3, thank you. My S4 is a little too big, this seems just right. They can't please us all. Good review.
I'm sorry, but NO. I owned a 2.0 R-Line turbo Beetle before this car. VW has nothing on Audi. I got in my A3 for a test drive and the top end Beetle was gone in a second. It was not even a question. I would never opt for a VW over an A3.
Only an e-tron version of the hatchback? C'mon Audi! I hope to see a RS3 sport back on our shores in the future. Oh please! And I'm sorry, but bringing in another sedan into your line up here? Spice the variety up a little. RS3 or TTRS.. Haven't yet decided which ones my future dream car. Probably the RS3 considering price.. :D
Personally, I feel the 2 series shouldn't be considered because it's two doors, and I'm not even going to acknowledge the Acura and that other car. In between this and the CLA, the CLA is the winner. The Audi just looks too... common. The CLA is different, but at the same time clearly a Mercedes-Benz. I will say this, at least the rear of the A3 has some differences from the other models. I get A4's and A6's confused all the time.
Test drive the CLA and check out the crappy interior... then you will see. I don't think CLA is much different from C class by the way, but it does look more dramatic than A3.
The basic does not come with bi-xenon headlights and sunroof. This is the progressive edition, you are testing out ! Also, the CLA is garbage conpared to this !
They're pulling a Subaru, lol. I'm not a hatch guy personally but I can see the appeal. In the Subie I think it works, in the Audi not so much. But again that's a personal aesthetic difference, storage capacity aside.
Baldy Grey The thing is, the A3 has always been a hatch/sportback. This new A3 sedan is just trying to Americanize their line-up. If I wanted something American, I would have bought an American car.
Well the WRX often switched between hatch and sedan but gravitated towards hatch more often than not. In Europe hatches are more common than in NA, but personally I don't require the extra space so I just don't like the aesthetics of a hatch. But being a sedan it does tend to compete with the A4 a whole lot more now. It is a great price point however.
... there is a hatch. There’s both a TDi and e-Tron hatch. The traditional gasoline-powered hatch has been phased out, but if you’re looking for a hatch w/ a gasoline power train, then the Golf is a darn solid bet, considering its platform is the basis for the A3’s, just minus Quattro/4Motion.
All these comments recommending VW made me post this comment. Volkswagen has the most problematic cars according to consumer surveys. also I once owned 4 VWs that proves this fact. If I could turn back time I should have listened to consumereports. Also Im aware buyers mid 20's, just now exploring German cars will not take this advice and will have to learn the hard way. But its not all bad news. According to consumer reports AUDI's reliability has improved the most year after year. Now considered among Japanese automaters in top tier in reliability.
Fugue State Used, however, it is difficult to find Audis at the prices of Nissans. However, the cars I'm looking at would be for my aunt as her current one is a 2002 model, and we're thinking about not getting the A3 or Altima-instead, a Hyundai Sonata.
Nice car with great interior features. However im not impressed with the style. A cla 250 has way more hp than the basic a3 170 vs 208. That's a big difference. And the cla looks very identical to the nearly $70,000 cls.
always find the BMW and Mercs a better choice, everytime i consider an Audi the look of it puts me off and when test driving i cant get away from the fact its just a VW trying to be too much like BMW. I wish theyd come up with their own / better style.
I agree, I think the CLA looks slightly better, but I do feel like the A3 is the better overall car. Better interior, more comes standard, more torque and HP, all wheel driver and faster in the 2.0TFSI...
Saul Bachiller-Smith I said the 2.0 .. which has the quattro, and the 220HP engine with higher torque than the CLA...and yes, the CLA only has 208.. I test drove both, and A3 is hands down better, with the much better interior vs the plastic-y cheap cla interior. and almost a full second faster 0-60 speed. CLA can be cheaper if u get the base model, but most likely CLA will end up being around 33-36, which is easily A3 with the 2.0.
Fussinated Audi doesn't just copy/paste VWs or Skodas. Sure, they share technology, but it stops there. Audi is way above VW and Skoda. They are the facts.
Fussinated Maybe if you actually did some research, you wouldn't sound so ignorant. It does share the MQB chassis & engines from the MK7 Golf, but that is different from the current generation Jetta. While the current Jetta uses the new 1.8, the GLI uses the old 2.0. Different suspension tuning and gear ratios will make the Audi drive different than the Golf.
Fussinated Why are you so adamant on your so-called "facts"? So Lamborghini, Porsche, Bentley, Bugatti and Audi are all unreliable trash cause they are part of Volkswagen Group? Lol. You're funny. Do a little research before spewing out all this crap. I'd take an Audi over a BMW or Mercedes any day. They're more technologically advanced and look a hell of a lot nicer.
Liked the review but not the car. Merc and Audi offer under $30K cars for the up and coming Jones chasers but the options list is where your back and wallet are broken. Damn shame to not even include a backup camera on that oddly placed screen/tablet (another German auto fad I hate - but Mazda obviously likes it) in the base.
That's true but my point wasn't necessarily the "need" for the b/u camera, just the fact that it's become so common (even standard) on less expensive non-luxury brands that's it's shameful they'll give you a multi-purpose screen but not include its full functionality (at a cost they will though).
I don't think many people are cross-shopping Buicks and Audis. I would, and maybe you too, but that's not the norm. I'm a fan of Buick. Less so now that they're made in China, but still a little. They definitely don't deserve the bad rep they have.
+BlueLizard87 Absolute rubbish, there are better option on the market, than this overpriced car. At this price you can get an Acura ILX 2016. It comes with all the bells and whistles, and is nice to look at. Much better bang for the buck.
crazyjack000 when you compare this to other sedans in its class like bmw, mercedes, and lexus, the A3 is the cheapest and in my opinion the best looking, you can also get one pre-owned for much less. $29,000 is good for an audi.
Hmm, you can get a base A4 for about 2 grand more than a base A3 so why would you really want a FWD 30,000 dollar car ? For the extra 2 grand you are getting a lot with the A4. Also the CLA looks better and has a lot better fuel economy. But I would still get an A4.
Base a4 around 34 grand with a CVT! and you can get a a3 with 2.0 (around 220 horses) Quattro and a very smooth transmission for 34 grand. A4 only gives you more space no sunroof (1000dollar option) and ive hward the a4 burn oil alot? Idk i like the a4 too but a3 is a bargain compared to it.plus, current a4 is 5 yr old platform (new a4 to be released next year) I would say get the a3 better equipment for base price of a4.
A4 is not really that bigger than the A3. They nearly identical in size on the lot. A4s are currently old at 2014 with no news on a 2015 or refresh made, while the A3 is 2015 and getting loaded with a whole bunch of options that will cost a fortune to try to equipped to the current A4.
annoying to see all of these american car fans going, "oh its just a 45k golf!!!! so ugly!!!!" this car is the exact opposite of those things. this car has great style, is cheap, and very luxurious. sorry if its not good enough for those driving around in solid gold lambo's...
Just got one for 13k with 47k miles… from an older family friend… best thing ever
this car rocks....i have the quattro loaded and it feels amazing
Micah, your reviews rock. Funny and informative. Also I like how you keep it real, you're not the typical snobby snarky reviewer. Keep up the good work homeslice.
This host is like the American Matt Watson, which is a good thing. Nice review!
Omar El Shazli my thoughts
BLOWS the CLA out of the water.
I have a 2016 A3 and it came standard with a back up camera with front and rear parking senors.
This was made in 2014😂😂
UYC Andrew that is more of a statement. Not really comparing the two years.
It was federally mandated for the US in 2016
Raymond Adams how is it holding up? Cost of repairs?
love the energy u guys get into ur videos....makes it less boring :)
Another great review, out of all the reviewers on YT, you are the best. Funny, informative, great close ups, and driving footages, what else can we ask for?
How is the reliability of this car? I was looking at getting a 2016 a3 with under 50k miles and cost to maintain!? Lmk!!!
Dylan Hoffman it’s very reliable, I’ve been having mines for over a year and nothing has went wrong! It’s a fun car to drive.
@@chrissanchez3745 Can you daily drive it or does that damage it?
Modern Culture you can daily drive it! I use mines for work, school, and go out a lot & no problems. Audi is super reliable, I even got mines certified pre owned with 37,000 miles on it for a great price!

Got mine for a year now and absolutely love it!
Still loving it? I’m interested in this year and model, but not sure being that it’s a bit older

still hesitating, Audi A3 or BMW 228 ?
A3
CLA
kopolojoyono 228i
i liked instantly when he started showing and naming other cars in the same..yeah nice video
gonna buy this in 1 month
How was it ?
Thanks for reviewing A3 sedan. I guess this is perhaps the 1st review by a major American car reviewer.
RIP TDI A3. You will be missed for a long time.
great car review!
Did the US get the hatchback in 2016 or did we just get the sedan
very good review man ..well done i real enjoyed it keep doing the good work you are doing ...
2:14 I died from laughter at that part 😂
Love your reviews man keep uploading them. btw, is Audi bringing the Q3 to the US
One of the best reviews ever on this car! Thanks!
I wish they had a 2 door hatchback version
Michael Dooby They do > www.audi.ro/files/ro/modelle/bilder/hintergruende/1680/1650.jpg
+Monster of Luckiness Bummer. Well it's just a Golf anyway. Can you have that as a 2 door? Then just slap on four rings on the grille :p
They actually do! Its everywhere outside the USA 🙄 LOL
which car do you prefer the audi a3 or the Mercedes cla?
The S-Line Quattro 2.0T (higher trim level) is definitely the better choice the pulls are so smooth 🔥🔥
THANK YOU for pronouncing ”diesel” like you're supposed to! So refreshing to hear that from an American :)
This new A3 did very well in IIHS crash test. The current A4 did poor in small overlap frontal crash test.
The ILX is supposed to get a big update after the NSX debuts.
How reliable it is?
I looked the interior of this car.The screen resolution is very low:( Great review..
What did u guys use on those floating scenes???
Where did you get that shirt ?!?! I want one !. Can't wait for the S3
A golf molded into a sedan with Audi badge, really disappointed that they replaced the A3 HB for this.
Is 87 gas ok for the a3? It says 87 to 91
Love ur reviews
Nice car all around , had the chance to see the new S3 in daytona gray the other day , that color really suits Audis.
KBB, Audi A3 or VW GTI?
I want one!! But I think the S3 would be fun drive.
Filmed around LBC! Love it.
which colour is this?
Front:infiniti
Rear:Lexsus
Audi stop copying, make something your own.
This used to be the size of the A4. car manfs have to make new smaller cars since every new one gets bigger!
Bigger cars are safer
Great review! When will wee see the e-tron sportback?
Funny you wearing that shirt while reviewing an automatic car lol
Love this car as my daily driver!!
I'm the right size for this car. I'll wait for the S3, thank you. My S4 is a little too big, this seems just right. They can't please us all. Good review.
its really hard to choose in between audi a3 sedan and cla250
Not really because the Audi is a much better car. More things for your money and better interior materials.
***** AND ITS CHEAPER BY $5!!!!
Between these cars I would get the Audi but I would never get the Audi over the Bmw m235i ;)
Fussinated Lol.
Fussinated I have a new GTI and it drives excellent! This AUDI is just in a different league and for under $30,000 it would be worth it!
Go for VW in this price range like a GLI, GTI, CC (share A3's engine) or save up for higher level car in Audi's lineup, like an S4.
I'm sorry, but NO. I owned a 2.0 R-Line turbo Beetle before this car. VW has nothing on Audi. I got in my A3 for a test drive and the top end Beetle was gone in a second. It was not even a question. I would never opt for a VW over an A3.

sat in one of these today. If you are over 6 ft this car is not an option
I'm 6'1, and i had no issues at all with it.
kids in Africa could've ate that car.

kevinmsft Funny you said that, many people claim the A3 has a "cheapo" interior.
Mike Ennamorato It's interior is leather, CLA is not.
I was talking purely about design, but alright.
Leather doesn't make it a nice interior. Build quality and design do, and the A3 seems to be failing in that area.
The Best 2015 Audi A3 Review (Y)
Love your T-shirt, Micah! Where did you get that? :D
so the new Audi a3 looks like the 2005 audi a4, and the new audi a4 looks like older audi a6 and it countinous
The basic does not come with bi-xenon headlights and sunroof. This is the progressive edition, you are testing out !
Also, the CLA is garbage conpared to this !
Or a fully loaded VW GLI, a few less features but performance on par or better.
good choice and a loaded GLI got more features.
all these shots look like this was filmed entirely in long beach, ca
I miss the hatchback :(
Hatchback is the way to go!
If they had left us a hatch, I'd probably have one of those right now...
hazindu I agree, Audi's failure to bring the hatchback version of the A3 caused me to buy a Golf GTI instead. No regrets though! : )
They're pulling a Subaru, lol. I'm not a hatch guy personally but I can see the appeal. In the Subie I think it works, in the Audi not so much. But again that's a personal aesthetic difference, storage capacity aside.

How much would this cost to insure vs say? a golf 1.8 SEL?
Call your insurance company.

MrTororosso1 They're fine if you rigorously follow the maintenance schedule. They're don't have high tolerances like economy Japanese cars.
Is this car or an upper-trim Nissan Altima better?
this car.
Fugue State Used, however, it is difficult to find Audis at the prices of Nissans.

I feel like I am looking at a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SE/SEL 1.8T, not to start anything just stating.
Doesn't look like a Jetta. It's not even built on the same platform. Yes, they share the same base engine, but that's about it...
davisflyer It's actually built on a GTi basic platform, same engine and such.
Yes, the GTI (MQB) platform, completely different from Jetta.
nice car, nice r3view
LAW OF PHYSICS: All Audi vehicles should be in black.
While true, this model looks better in red...
Ca Lonny now that i think of it, you're right
Ca Lonny
Ca Lonny I've got one in red Lol Though I agree that in general all Audi's look better in black ...
Something about the red that makes the lines stand out in some of the models. Is that a a4 you got there?
SAME GAS MPG AS A JEEP 2014 GRAND CHEROKEE
Im the upcomer dipping my toes guy ! hahaha i cant wait 8 more days babyy. im gonna make a video about it too :)
Love the shirt😂😂
Audi A3 SEDAN!? That's just wrong. A3 Sportback is the one and only A3 you should buy
yess MICAH
Nice car with great interior features. However im not impressed with the style. A cla 250 has way more hp than the basic a3 170 vs 208. That's a big difference. And the cla looks very identical to the nearly $70,000 cls.
Nice car 🔥🔥🔥
So basically its a spruced up Jetta.
pwoo124 no. Its an awd luxury car dumbass
Jetta is a spruced up VW Polo.
COOL SO GREAT CAR BRO
nice t-shirt btw!
always find the BMW and Mercs a better choice, everytime i consider an Audi the look of it puts me off and when test driving i cant get away from the fact its just a VW trying to be too much like BMW. I wish theyd come up with their own / better style.
Audi is its own brand. Vw just owns it like fiat owns Ferrari
and Ford owns Aston Martin, but I guess a Vanquish is just a fancy Mustang according to this logic
Nice looking car
reminds me of the old A4
LOL at 2:40 mark . Nice mashing of controls. Pro Tip !
They should have kept the a3 a hatch.
i like it !
Audi A3 or Lexus ES 350 ?
get the lexus
And you can proudly drive a car with the ugliest front grille since the Edsel.
The Edsel looked pretty nice imo
a sub-compact german executive car or a midsize japanese luxury car?
I'd get the IS200 which is a size inbetween both cars.
I have the poor mans Volkswagen Jetta shares similar features
Wow. Sure isn't very economical with those mpg figures.
Those MPG is considered good in US
The mpg is great considering the rest of the cars in competition.
Art S US MPG and UK MPG are based on different gallon sizes
The Merc to me appears better looking.
I agree, I think the CLA looks slightly better, but I do feel like the A3 is the better overall car. Better interior, more comes standard, more torque and HP, all wheel driver and faster in the 2.0TFSI...
