The first thing you might notice about the new A3 is that the body style is a sedan which is different from the hatchback (5-door) model that was previously sold here in the U.S. Audi figures that the market for a 4-door car is much larger than a hatchback. At first look, a $30k entry-level luxury car may seem like a tough sell, but the 2015 Audi A3 has a bunch of great upsides that make it a surprising choice.
The 2015 Audi A3 comes in 2 different trim levels: the FWD 1.8 which starts at $29,900, and the Quattro 2.0 which starts at $32,900. The model tested here has the legendary 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 220 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy comes in at 24 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway.
The car drive very well, the sport mode actually keeps the revs. The new A3 is actually about the same size as the older Audi A4 was. This is indeed a compact luxury sedan. The car looks great and fits right into the rest of the line-up.

Have you driven it? Its pretty lame. 1 series and A3 are really much better.
i didnt drive it yet. i sat in it and its very comfortable for me, im 6'3'', and from what im hearing from reviewers CLA drives very well, 1 issue (if you can call it that) people say its too stiff, but if ill get smaller 17" wheels it should be OK... dont like the 1series, but i'll give the A3 another look. but i'll still most likely will go with a merc just love the way it looks.
Please do eat the depreciation for us thanks.

imp alor in time that's beyond more . to each their own. but ps back to topic, CLA isn't bad. All 90% of ppl care about is the badge anyway and there's nothing wrong with that. Merc is a commodity now days.
If you stage 1 chiptune this car you'll get about 310hp with 450nm of torque. That's a little more then an S3 stock has so if you want power but don't want to spend the money for S3, buy this one and chip it ;)

The 2.0 Turbo w/ quattro AWD was surprisingly fun! I thought it would be a cheap Audi, but instead the A3 was simply a small Audi.
How does this going to compare to a 2015 WRX CVT? Similar price. Obviously, the A3 will be nicer inside but the WRX has a little more power.
This is miles ahead of the CLA250 and the "driver's car" for sure. An APR tune and that Quattro system will make this a very fun car, however, the new Golf R should be a beast out of the box and about the same price...
Have you guys ever tough about talking about power train specifications in this Audi?
That 2.0 Quattro is a unique option to US, with the VW Golf GTI engine, S-tronic, AND Quattro....Sooo that shoud make it freaking fun car to drive...
I have the A3 2014 Hatchback model here in Norway and its such a great car. Your review of the sedan was excellent and with some good detailed knowledge. I did not know the character recognition was line based, but it makes sense considering how well it works. Is the MMI system in the 2015 sedan still Tegra-3 based?
I'm confused, is the A3 considered a compact or subcompact car? I've always thought of subcompact cars as the chevrolet sonic, ford fiesta or something like that, the A3 is larger than them, isn't it?
I keep hearing that the 2.0 engine is notorious for burning oil. How true is this? What about the 1.8 engine? Is that any better?

At first i was skeptical of the presenter due to his unruly facial hair, but i soon realized this guy really knows what he's talking about.
that's not a 2.0 if the exhausts are all on one side, the car shown later in the video with s-line is a 2.0, but the footage seems to be from elsewhere ...
What about the suspension? Does it tend towards stiffness or does it tend towards that luxury floaty feel?

Im getting my first car in march and my dad said a 30k car is a good one..Should i get the base model a3 or buy a used 2014 audi a4 for around 27-30k?
yea thanks i decided a few days ago i would get a used A4 because it is better and has a better interior. the A3 is somewhat small to me now
