Complete Brilliance! This song was actually a finger to their record company as the company wanted them to do shorter more radio friendly songs. This was their answer and album was a huge success and the record company never bothered them again. Rush assumed control.

That was amazing in 1976. The vinyl record cover folded open, and the story (lyrics and text for the dialog entries) were artistically displayed inside. The case/cover was a beautiful design, the music is passionate and flawless, and it's something that will be listened to for as long as humans listen to music.

Rush had undeniable greatness and rock god presence.
Of all the many bands I've seen, I liked their shows the best. The crowd was always electric. It felt magical. I've only seen 3 other groups that could have that kind of effect on an entire stadium full.

Here's the basic story behind 2112. Their management wanted them to do radio friendly songs. This was a protest. They said we're not doing this for you.
We're doing it for us. So they made the first half of the record all one song (kinda) and gave them the finger and created this MASTERPIECE😎 This is the story of that battle.
Neil Peart wrote all of the lyrics to Rush music. We lost our GOAT. He's playing for GOD now.😇 That was the last time I cried (Sorry Christine. When Stevie goes I'm going to lose it) 😭
I'm jealous because you have the cool earphones like I had with my old turntable in the day. Now all I have is my little computer speaker. This version is cool with graphics telling the story, in the 1976 we were hit with both barrels with this, and only our imagination.
    " Listen to my music".
    "Hear what it can do".
"Tere's something here as strong as life".
"I know it will reach you."
Thank you so much for making this GOAT enjoyable again.😎

It’s beyond me someone can be into music in general, especially rock, and not have heard heard Rush before they were 15 years old. Almost 50 years, countless hits, sooo many albums and world wide tours and the most dedicated fan base I know of. What rock must one be under to be oblivious of Rush. Even if they don’t appeal to someone, I cannot imagine no exposure to them unless there is no radio and electricity in your town.

Rush's 2112 is a Rock Opera on par with the likes of Pink Floyd's The Wall, The Who's Tommy and Styx's Kilroy Was Here among countless others. The Progressive Rock and Fusion movement of the '60s & '70s (and beyond) may have a niche following, but its greatness led the way for Progressive / Symphonic Metal and bands like Tool & Nightwish. This graphic-novel styled video really contributes nicely to realizing the narrative of the lyrics.

Was fortunate enough to see this performed live in Hollywood, FL in '77 when RUSH was the warm-up band for Bob Seger. Almost no one knew who they were. Three encores later, I would imagine Seger was just a little pissed. Seeing 3 guys put out that much sound was incredible. Hooked for life.

"Attention all planets of the Solar Federation!"
    7 words repeated 3 times = 21
    "We have assumed control!"
    4 words repeated 3 times = 12
And here's another Easter egg: 2112 is 9:12 PM in 24 hour format, and 9-12 (September 12) was Neil's birthday. For another epic masterpiece, I recommend the comic book videos for Cygnus X-1, which begin with the closing track on A Farewell To Kings, and then continue into the opening track on their subsequent album Hemispheres, adding up to 30 minutes that will completely blow your mind! Cheers from Canada! 🇨🇦

    - SCI-FI ROCK OPERA! (Hence all the sections: scenes.).
    - Actually, an allegory about the "evil" music industry RUSH was contending w/ at the time.
    - In fact, their label told them for there next album they needed to make something more "commercial" than their last... "2112" was their middle finger response! - And became an epic opus, AND commercial success. So, take that "Priests of Syrinx"! :D

    🔥🔥🔥 Rush's masterpiece! 🔥🔥🔥
There are live videos from the "2112" tour of this song and also on the '76 live album "All the World's a Stage" . I believe the song is shortened and not as tight, but is still worthy of a watch/listen.
There're later videos of 2112 live too, but imo Geddy's vocals are sub-par after the mid '80's, early '90's. After then he started staying away from the high notes and the banshee screams❤.
Now a days he doesn't sing with his chest voice anymore, only with his head voice😕 To me, it makes him sound really nasal and unnatural. He has also lost much of his high range 😞

Don’t cry tears of sadness because it’s over. Cry tears of joy that it happened.

At the end of the 2112 you keep saying " where do I start ,where do I start !?"
Ill tell ya, start from the beginning and listen to it again. You will find things you missed 1st time around.

Greatest band of all time. But this video is embarrassingly bad. The song itself is just fine.

You don’t need to sit thru 20 minutes. Watch 2112 in Rio. It plays the only part worth playing. Rush fans HATE it because it’s too heavy for them. Low T.
