    Thank you for sharing! I plan on using I75 from Florida to Ohio. The thumbnail of your video with snow was the main reason I clicked. As we plan on traveling for New Years

    Liked the time lapse as the train was moving, your station ratings and explanations, that high end, sophisticated music you played-never heard before- beautiful; panning the camera to show some of the areas around the stations for context and to see what places we haven't seen look like and showing us a line others wouldn't bother with.

    We always drive because I have 6 children and airline tickets can get very expensive for a party of 8. But ... we are driving from south Florida to Kentucky during spring break and this breakdown of expenses is very informative. However, we always rent a large SUV for road trips so we are probably breaking even at the end of the day. I much prefer the leisure and "control" of a trip by vehicle with so many variables (kids, lol). I'll check out that book as we are driving I-75 straight through Georgia and Tennessee. Thank you for sharing your experience.

    This was a very informative video! We are considering driving to Fort Myers with our two kids (3 and 7) from Sarnia. Flights alone for us would be almost $2000. Looks like driving really is more cost effective. Definitely going to get the book. Thanks so much for sharing!

      Longtime trucker here and unless we were delivering inside the perimeter we had to take i285 or get ticket.

    a new no speed limit, super freeway should be built running parallel to I75 from michigan all the way to florida....there would be entrance ramps onto it from I75 then you pay like 15 dollars and you can go as fast as you want,then it would exit onto I75 to get off on exits...like 2 lanes wide and each state charges tolls when you enter the state.

    • @thetravellingtoques

    When driving in Georgia with Canadian plates, DO NOT exceed the speed limit by even 1 MPH. It has been open season on them for revenue generation since at LEAST the late 80's!

    • @thetravellingtoques
      @thetravellingtoques  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thetravellingtoques They're more than happy to drop a U$ 400.00 ticket on you knowing it will cost you more than that in traveling and hotel to fight it!

    • @michaelp.7848
      @michaelp.7848 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Georgia, it is my belief, is not very strict with many if not most drivers exceeding the speed limit by 10 to 20 miles per hour. That my experience driving to Florida the last two winters. I use Waze to avoid any problems. The various Southern states that people drive through to get to Florida don’t exploit the motorists as much as they could under the circumstances. You experience may be different from mine.

    • @willp.8120
      @willp.8120 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's primarily a south Georgia thing. Turner County is especially noteworthy of setting speed traps.

    We are looking to make this trip mid-April. With regards to the snow you encountered, were the roads still clear/dry? Trying to decide if we should leave the snow tires on or not.

    • @thetravellingtoques
      @thetravellingtoques  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We haven't driven in April, but from what we've read, we think the roads should be passable, but you never know. We are mostly basing this on the fact that we've heard April is when most of the snowbirds drive home from Florida, and most don't have snow tires on.
      We just drove last month and lucked out, no snow the entire way, also mostly no delays until an accident closer to Florida.
      Hopefully, we don't have a freak storm, but worst case if there is when you're driving, you stop and wait it out. Maybe wait until closer to your trip to decide. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching. Enjoy your trip.

    I have a question about the tolls. In most toll roads license plate video option is available. How much did you save in tolls using the Uni Pass?

    • @thetravellingtoques
      @thetravellingtoques  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question, I think you are referring to Toll-By-plate. What I have heard is that they charge an administration fee of $2.50 plus the higher toll amounts. It looks like if you use the Uni-pass or Sun pass in Florida the toll rates are 25% less.
      Also you need to be careful you don’t accidentally use a sun pass lane without a pass in Florida as they will charge a daily violation charge of $25. I’m not sure of the charges in the other states.

    How do I set up this toll thing? unipass .. or sunpass.. which one do I need to get thru michigan down to orlando?

    • @thetravellingtoques
      @thetravellingtoques  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We used uni-pass which we bought through Amazon. The setup instructions included with it were very easy, and online. It explains where to register and deposit the money. Unipass works in more States so you can keep using it in the future for other trips or side trips. It worked for us at the border and then we didn’t have any more tolls through Michigan. It also works for peach pass tolls through Georgia.

    • @thetravellingtoques
      @thetravellingtoques  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you, we are glad you enjoyed it. When using the zip code you take your own postal code say M2M 5R7 and just use the numbers in it with 00 at the end. So this would be 25700. This is the get around when using your credit card at the gas stations in the US as well.

      So, we wore a mask (sometimes) based on the information back then.
