- This is Iceland's first 4K 24/7 live stream showing the lava erupting from a volcanic crater near the town of Grindavik Iceland. This eruption began on March 16, 2024.
Weather permitting, a tour of the area will run every 20 minutes.
This camera is situated on the southern tip of Þorbjörn. Þorbjörn is a 243 m high volcanic mountain next to the town of Grindavík. The camera is usually pointed Northeast at the erupting volcano but may occasionally pan north or south to observe other features of the area. It is about 2km away from the erupting volcano.

Scientists/Technicians don't typically work or take samples alone. They usually work in at least pairs.

well he can be used as scale to the size of the lava field and the cone height....he/she looks tiny there....
After watching for a bit, I tend to think that the person is a researcher getting samples and/or measurements. Orange safety gear and I think a safety helmet would be expected IMO. Sometimes research can be risky - although walking on rather recent lava would be something I wouldn't want to do (even with special boots).

There were 2 to the left of him/her & one for maybe 4 secs to the right of the person. Shown very briefly. I thought I was the only one that saw them.

What I would give to see rhe video that person is probably filming up very close and be able to hear the lava sound it emits..those are the million dollar videos to me

Sometimes these near-death tourists try to cook sausages on the hot lava....but I dare them to try to fry an egg without a pan there. The egg would just drip in between the porous rocks!!!

Too many risk takers around there! Constant issues with people like this. I've seen rescues happen and vehicles stuck on lava, like show some respect and grow up. This is 'Active', so stay away and let it be until we all know it's okay to tour the area.

I see no one... I increased to 1440 and zoomed in ... I thought that person was an open lava flow. If they didn't have orange on I would have seen them immediately.
